Summer Nights Romance.

Chapter VII.

MIKEY’S P.O.V.
The night wasn’t as nearly as fun as he had hoped. But he saw the state Calum was in, and he was plastered enough for the both of them. Calum had taken no strain on the advice Mikey had given him, and if anything had gone over the expected level of drunkenness. Calum was enjoying the strobe lights too much as he jumped around, clutching on tight to his beer. He looked so confident in himself in that moment, and then he stopped. Mikey followed his eyes and saw her. She was swaying to the music on her stool at the bar and her hair looked so silky and perfect, her waist looked so small. Calum obviously saw this as his time. “I’m ready,” Calum jumped up and down like a boxer ready for the round to start.“You sure?” Mikey looked into Calum’s eyes. They were glassy. “Yeah, you’re ready.” “I’m going in!”
“Okay…” Mikey inhaled, following his friend over. Evelyn looked stunning, as usual, but something Calum neglected to notice was who was by her side. Luke Hemmings. Mikey had never gotten a good vibe from Hemmings. Calum insisted though he was a good guy. To Michael though, Luke was always flirting with everyone and he had a reputation as being beyond cocky. Mikey only had a few encounters with Luke, yet every encounter he could easily testify that the ‘rumors’ were nothing but.
Suddenly Calum stopped walking. As Mikey looked over again towards the bar, Evelyn was lip locked with no one other than Luke. He was holding her cheeks delicately and massaging her tongue with his it appeared. Calum still stopped dead in his tracks. Mikey approached his friend and patted his back.
“You…okay?” Mikey said, regretting his question.
“Why…wouldn’t I be okay?” Calum’s voice cracked when the question was asked. He forced a smiled, but his eyes were cold and dark.
“Hey, why don’t we head out?” Mikey offered.
“No,” Calum’s voice was stern. “Let’s stay. Let’s have another drink?”
“We shouldn’t,” Mikey said softly, but Calum was already off to the bar. But this time, without the skip in his step.

LOUIS’ P.O.V.

His blood was boiling. His eyes were regretfully glued to Riley who was willingly swaying her hips against this random jackass. He had this goofy smile on his face to pronounce his thrills. Louis couldn’t help but roll his eyes. Some sorority girl was trying to capture his attention, but she was boring and seemed sloppy. He pushed her away and found this as his time to leave. He stormed his way home. Who was Riley to turn him down? He was the one to call the night, and she was now taking away that power? Bullshit. She doesn’t want to play this game.

DEVIN’S P.O.V.

“Where’s…” Devin began.
“Liam? He stepped out for some air,” Niall answered. Devin had just showed up and was peering through the crowds.
“Actually, I was gonna ask about my sister,” Devin finished.
“Oh,” Niall swallowed some more of his pint and then turned away from the bar to help look for the younger version of Devin, but maybe the more fun version. “Over there!” Niall suddenly pointed. She was sitting at the bar on the other side of the club.
“Thanks Ni!” she said before walking towards her sister. They made eye contact and immediately Collins’ eyes darted away and began to walk in the opposite direction. Devin tried to follow but the crowd separated her and Collins. She had been talking to Luke and a rather drunken Evelyn.
“Where’d she go, Luke?” Devin spat.
“What?” Luke yelled over the music.
“Oh, hey Devin! Come here!” Evelyn slurred.
“Evelyn, how are you this gone? We’ve been here like an hour,” Devin spluttered, growing distracted by her friend’s intoxicated state.
“She’s been pounding the drinks,” Luke said, eyeing Eve as well.
“You better not touch her,” Devin reproached.
“Whoa, Devin. Calm down,” Luke held his arms up.
“Where’d my sister go?” she repeated, getting back on track. The lights were really getting to her head and she desperately wanted a drink, but wanted to keep on eye on Collins.
“I don’t know,” Luke huffed. Suddenly another boy stood by her side.
“Looks like you need a drink,” he stated simply, leaning on the bar’s counter ever so seductively.
“I don’t need a drink,” she declined curtly, avoiding Harry’s eyes.
“It seems like you do, oh bartender!” he summoned. “One lemon drop please?” the bartender nodded and Devin’s taste buds watered when Harry handed it to her. She was surprised that Harry managed to remember her favorite drink, but she drank it graciously.
“You need to stop stressing; it’s summer,” Harry said, leading Devin to a couple empty stools at the end of the bar.
“I need shots,” she said quietly.
“Easily done, bartender!” Harry jumped at the opportunity. Devin rarely got drunk, nonetheless hammered, but this night she intended to do just that.

HARRY’S P.O.V.

She was getting tipsy already. The fun Devin was peeking through as Harry continued to order her drinks. He wasn’t about to take advantage of her, but he wanted some time with the Devin he remembered.
“You good?” Harry said when Devin began to sway in her seat to the music. The bass dropped and Devin threw her arms around. Her purse then tipped over and all of the content oozed out. Harry immediately went to help, scurrying to grab everything, when suddenly he saw what he was holding. Condoms and cigarettes. He knew that she was older now, and she wasn’t a virgin he could testify to that, but cigarettes? He remembered how against smoking she was since her dad resembled a chimney. He slowly stood and Devin’s eyes were surprisingly steady.
“I can explain.” Was all she said.
“And…? You smoke now?” Harry said.
All too soon though Liam, her beloved boyfriend showed.
“There you are! I’ve been looking for you everywhere,” Liam pecked her cheek, said slower, “you smell like alcohol. You’re reeking of it.” Devin’s eyes were still on Harry though who was holding condoms and cigarettes.
“Hey Harr… what are those?” Liam stepped forward, seeing the condoms and his eyes looked ablaze. Devin looked so helpless as she stood there and Harry knew what he had to do.
“Sorry, I’m out of line,” Harry said.
“Damn right you are,” Liam stepped forward towards Harry. Harry wanted nothing but to smash this dumbass into the ground, but he inhaled deeply for Devin’s sake. “You should put those away now.”
“I’m gonna go.”
“Yeah, good choice,” Liam growled. The whole time Harry stared at Devin, confused but he slowly backed away and left the club. His heart racing and his mind wandering.

EVELYN’S P.O.V.

“What’s wrong with her?” Evelyn wondered. Devin had just wandered away with Harry by her side. Luke just shrugged, throwing back his drink.
“She needs to calm down though,” Luke threatened, still heated over Devin’s comment about Evelyn.
“Maybe you should too,” Evelyn said in a low voice, she turned to Luke and began to play with his hair. Luke looked over and their eyes made contact like they hadn’t before. Her stomach was sparked. Sure, her vision was blurry but he looked so perfect. She held the back of his head and she slowly leaned in. Her lips against his. His tongue so sweet. His hands holding her waist as she stood and he did too.
“We should… head out…” Evelyn offered.
“Works for me,” Luke nodded, his eyes still closed from their kiss. She held his cheeks and was about to lean in for one more meeting, but instead she grabbed his hand. They ran out of the double doors, ready for the night.
