Pity For A Millionaire
She chucked her bag under the table in the lecture room. Even with that little scuffle outside she was still pretty early and one of the first people in the hall. Sophie took a seat at the back, nothing new there, and got her laptop out. She stared at the blank word document open in front of her, ready to take notes from the lecture, when someone sat on the seat by her. Odd. Usually people would get the message that Sophie-Mae wanted to be left alone and would sit as far away from her as possible, like she would eat them alive if they came too close. But the truth is, Sophie-Mae Channing was one of the nicest people in the whole University, if you gave her a chance and got to know her, you would see that she was kind, thoughtful, funny, and that she had a good brain on her too, and some fire, which was proved earlier. But no one ever gave her a chance, so she never got the chance to prove this to people.
She glanced up at the boy, quickly, but slowly enough so she could take him all in. He was wearing a greenish coloured beanie, which had a few chestnut curls poking out of it and he was wearing a pair of ray bans. Even more odd. The lecture room was inside for one, and it was dark, secondly. There was no need for sunglasses surely.
He soon removed them and that was when she discovered who he was, and why he was wearing the sunglasses indoors. But the latter is not why you think he would. It was the Harry Styles. The Harry Styles who's career had started off so well, but his personal life began to go down hill, ever so slightly so no one would really pay much attention and would even joke about his nights out on the prowl in the city's hottest clubs. It was only when it had gone too far that people realised the mess he was in was serious.
Sophie-Mae remembered hearing about his nights in the gutters of London and remembered the feelings she felt at that moment. Pity, sadness at the loss of his beautiful personality, anger that no one was helping him. A mixture really. Anyway back to why he was wearing them, to conceal his identity, maybe, but she looked at the few people in this room and soon realised this was not the sort of crowd that would recognise him, and even if they did recognise him from their younger sisters posters, they wouldn't even take a second look. The real reason was hidden in and around his eyes. The prominent dark circles under his eyes were so bad that she had the urge to go into her bag and start applying the concealer she had hidden in there somewhere to them. His eyes themselves though, would be harder to hide, They were bloodshot, a build up of not eating, sleeping and heavy drinking was all hidden, or not hidden, in his eyes.
''Take a picture it will last longer.'' She realised she had been staring and was snapped out of her daydream by a smirking Harry Styles. Sophie-Mae decided to keep her trap shut for once and just sunk into the back of her chair.
This would be one of the longest lecture's of Sophie-Mae Channing's life.
