Chapter Two: The Aftermath

Sam’s POV:

The trees all blurred together as Louis did his usual speeding to school. I was always surprised that his truck didn’t break down, because the loud thumping and roaring scared the hell out of me.

I peeked over at him, it was nice to see him back to his usual style; blue jean jacket with the collar popped in the back, dark blue skinny jeans hugged his hips as he wore his muddy worn down boots underneath, his midnight shadow emerging across his face made him look very cow boyish.

His eyes flicked to mine, “Whatcha lookin’ at?” he winked.

Smiling, I turned my gaze back outside, “Just thinking you look a lot better than last night.”

His soft chuckle rumbled through the truck, “I was thinking the opposite about you, you looked so much better last night.”

“Hey! Jerk!” I slapped his leg.

He threw his hands up in defense, “Just joking, just joking.”

“You better be.” I mumbled a smile on my face.

“So…”

I turned back to him, “Yeah?”

“I saw you walking away really fast last night from a room that Harry emerged from?”

My jaw dropped a little, it was something I didn’t quite want to explain to a guy best friend, you know? “Oh, really?” was all I found myself saying.

“Yeah…” he returned back, not furthering the conversation which I internally thanked him for.

Complete silence was the track of choice we chose for the rest of the ride to school. We rolled right in without uttering a single word to each other. Louis navigated his roaring truck to his designated parking spot. I watched as we passed Malory Hill, she stuck her long legs out of her white jeep, short mini skirt to match her slutty attitude, as her blonde hair cascaded down her thin shoulders. I hated her and her damn perfect body. I specifically didn’t like her today as she chatted up the oncoming Harry styles.

She gently placed her hand on his shoulder as he laughed at some dumb joke she probably made, the twinge of jealousy hit me like a semi truck, his eyes flicked up as I turned away quickly. I had to remind myself not to indulge in anymore dreamy Styles thoughts, I did end it, as I recalled last night.

Harry got off the bed, zipping his pants back up, as I turned towards the door, “This was nice. Have a good life, bye.” And I ran out of there before his persuasive voice could change my final decision.

Yeah, we were definitely over.

“Earth to Sam?”

I shot my head up, “Yeah?” I slurred out quickly, making Louis raise a brow at me.

“You going to get out or you going to stare out the window all day?”

I searched around realizing Louis had already parked his truck, the roaring no longer there, he stood leaning against his door, head poking into the truck, giving me these cute confused puppy dog eyes, “Yeah. Sorry, was thinking if I had brought all my homework today.”

He raised both brows at that this time, “Samantha Whitestock, straight A student, may have forgot her homework?” he spun his head back and forth, “Is the world ending right now? Am I dead?” he placed his hand on his chest, jaw dropped in fake shock.

“Shut up!” I threw one of his soda cans that he left in the truck at him, “Let’s go already.”

“After you, miss straight A’s with one A minus.” He locked the doors, smirking at me, as we headed towards the doors of school. We walked past Malory and Harry, as she still had her hand on his shoulder. He watched as Louis and I walked by, me trying to ignore him as much as possible.

“Hi Sammy.” Malory waved in our direction, the hint of teasing seethed through her slutty teeth, “Hi Louis.” She purred at him.

I rolled my eyes at that, so typical, so annoying, “Hey.” Louis replied and kept walking with me. I smiled to myself, thanking him that he didn’t stop to talk with her or her devilish angel companion.

“Three more minutes before you are all tardy! Get to class everyone!” Mr. Shwarser barked out at the front of the doors, as everyone milled around his massive walrus figure. It always made me wonder how someone could get hired to be a physical education teacher with that enormous figure; he always made me feel uncomfortable. Rumors were he got that job so he could watch all the girls run around sweaty in their gym shorts. I shivered at the thought as we passed him.

“We better hurry before walrus pounces.” Louis checked his watch, it was our usual conversation before bell, and no one wanted the walrus on you.

“Yes!” I picked up my pace as we both headed to our math classes.

“See you later.” Louis smiled as he opened his class door and disappeared.

I settled quietly into my seat, rummaging through my bag for my book and papers, when a ring of a text message rang out near and a burst of laughter soon after.

I peeked up to see that it was James Poppy, school nerd, had his phone up in his face, as if he couldn’t already see with his glasses. A goofy grin spreading on his face, he turned to me, stifling a laugh, as he quickly turned away from our eyes meeting.

Okay? That was definitely weird.

I narrowed my eyes at the back of his head, as I placed my stuff neatly on my desk; I gingerly traced the outline of the heart engraved at the end of my desk. I could never make out the letters written in the middle, but it always soothed me, someone else’s love story etched there forever, that was until the school decides to buy new desks.

The class went on without any other weird incidents, the bell rang and I was free of another day in calculus. I shoved all my notes back into my bag, tossing my backpack over my shoulders and made my way to the door.

I felt clammy hands grab onto my arm, turning to a blushing James, his glasses falling unattractively down his face, zits sprouting rapidly along his forehead, as he gave me a creepy grin, “Excuse me?” I stared down at his hand, as he quickly dropped it.

“I-I just, w-wanted…” he started giggling like a little school girl.

I glared at him, walking away without hearing the rest of what he wanted to say, I didn’t have to time for weirdness right now, “Hey!” a thump on my back made me jump.

“Shit you scared me!”

“Sorry.” Louis sheepishly smiled, “How was class?”

I stared down out my feet, the clicking of my heels calming my nerves, “Just had a weird encounter with James.”

“James Poppy?”

“Yep, that one.”

“What happened?” I could hear the curiosity in his voice.

“Some odd ass laughing went down, that’s for sure.” I nodded to myself as I shook away the thoughts.

We pushed ourselves through the crowded hall of students. Typical gossip, rumors and chit chat echoed its way through the hierarchy line of school. I had an odd feeling as we walked, as if everyone was staring at me, but every time I looked around no one met my eyes.

“You okay?” Louis leaned his head in front of me, knocking his forehead against mine, like he usually does to check if I'm sick.

“Yeah.” I whispered out.

He didn’t seem to like that answer, “Something is wrong, what’s going on?”

I saw Harry behind Louis at the end of the hall, it was like I had Harry radar on my mind, I knew where he was at all times, even though at this moment I didn’t want to. I just wanted to peacefully forget him and I ever had a thing going on between us. He appeared to be looking, and like that Louis was in the way, I didn’t quite see what was going on.

“I think I should take you home.”

I snapped up at that, “What? No, I’m okay Lou; I can’t just skip school anyways.”

He smiled sadly, “You don’t have to impress anyone Sam, you are perfect the way you are, and if you skip one class to feel better, no school is going to turn you down.” He placed his hand reassuringly on my cheek.

“You’re sweet Lou, but no is no.” I traced my hand along his and took it off my face.

“I see that Louis got first dibs.” We both turned to Niall who was smirking at us.

“What did you say?” Louis glared; he and Niall never did get along.

“I really wanted first dibs, but I was expecting the best buddy would hit it first.” He grinned at me.

“What the fuck man?” Louis stormed over to him.

Niall didn’t budge, as he let Louis grab him by the shirt, their faces inches from each other. Niall smiled sweetly at Louis, “Ask her. Ask her how good that party was.”

“What are you talking about?” it was my turn now.

Niall didn’t even turn my way; he kept poking the bear that was in front of him, “Ask her how good she made that party for someone else. Ask her why she hurriedly left that room.”

I could see Louis’s grip on Niall’s shirt loosen, as Niall’s head rolled to the side, our eyes meeting, winking at me, “What are you talking about?” I asked him again.

“It’s funny how miss straight A’s, has something so blatantly obvious placed under your nose, yet you are so high and mighty to not see what you do not want to see.” He flicked his eyes towards a cluster of lockers.

I narrowed my eyes at him, as I followed his point of line, falling across a simple paper that someone had slapped up on the lockers. My feet took me to it on its own, as I placed my hand against the picture I was seeing, fear creeping up my spine like a bad horror movie.
Louis ripped the picture from out under my hand, “What the hell is this?” He screamed at Niall.

I stood there in shock, staring at the lockers. Little pieces of white laid there jagged in four corners, where the picture should be laying. My body was numb and deaf to the screams of protest that Louis was doing for me, what I should be doing for myself.

The pointed grey ears, upon long curls of brown that spread across seductively along a furry grey outfit, loose tail laying to the side, white hands grabbing fistfuls of bed sheets, white skin glaring out with no shirt on, face cut off; but I knew, I knew clearly who those two people were that was now engrained in my mind.

Someone had taken a picture of Harry and I last night. They didn’t get our faces, but everyone knew who the wolf girl was, and exactly what she was doing. I was now placed all over school for all eyes to see, to see the slutty idea I went with, to see what I was willing to do, to view me as the schools slut.

A picture to destroy.
