Over Again

We had just finished a small helping of ice cream. And, by small helping of ice cream, I mean three scoops in a waffle cone. My stomach ached.

"Hey, it's getting dark, when does the carnival close for the night?" I asked Niall. He looked at his watch.

"About 10:30, 10:45, maybe." I nodded, then saw a couple little girls looking at us.

I whispered to Niall, "Hey, I think you've got some fans over there." I subtly pointed to the girls, who looked like twelve or thirteen, but one looked like seven or eight. Niall looked at them, and they averted their eyes, trying not to make eye contact. We walked over to them.

"Hi," Niall said. All of the girl's eyes widened.

"Hey," the said shyly.

"What's your names?" He asked. A girl with blonde and blue tipped hair said she was named Caly. Then a black haired girl said she was Giana.

"And that's the youngest of the trio," Caly said. "She doesn't talk much, but she loves you guys just the same. India, say hi."

The girl looked at her feet and waved.

"Well hello to you girls. I'm afraid it's just me and my friend here," Niall said pointing his finger to me.

"Can we have a picture with you," Giana asked as she pulled out a silver phone. Niall nodded, and I stepped out of the way. Giana handed the phone to me, asking if I woul take the picture.

After I snapped the pic, they handed the phone to Niall, coming over to me.

"What?" I asked.

"We want a picture with you," I heard India's small voice say. The girls gasped, but nodded.

"Why me? I'm not famous or anything."

"You're friends with Niall. So you're ours friend too," Giana said, and smiled up at me. I shrugged, then smiled for the picture.

"Are you two boyfriend girlfriend," India asked. I looked at Niall, who seemed both startled and embarrassed by the question. I bet my expression matched his.

"No, no no," I said quickly. "I'm just visiting him on vacation."

Caly put her hands on her hips. "Yeah, okay."

"Girls!" We heard a man calling.

"That's our dad, we've gotta go," Giana said. "Bye, Niall, bye, Gracie." Caly grabbed India's hand, while all of them waved at us and ran to their father.

I looked at Niall, an he was blushing shyly at the ground.
