In a Heartbeat

Crayons, Cookies, and Coloring Books

I woke up sandwiched between Liam and Niall. I felt something move near my head and I saw a sleeping Harold, then looked down at my feet and found a sleeping Louis. I looked up at where the ceiling should've been and instead saw the roof of our blanket fort.
Where's Zayn? I wondered, sitting up. I crawled over Harry to get to the other end of the blanket fort, suddenly feeling very claustrophobic. There, I found a picnic basket and a box of crayons. Why crayons? Oh, hi, Zayn!
I opened the picnic basket and the first thing I saw was a stack of coloring books. I grinned and pulled them out, ready to color, but then I saw a plate of chocolate chip cookies.
I can already tell this is going to be a good day.

"GET. UP!" I shouted at the sleeping bodies at my feet. I had been awake for over an hour now and gotten ready for the day, and they still weren't awake.

"Hmmm.... I wonder...." I ran to the elevator, out of the hotel and out onto the street, then ran back inside and retraced my steps - still running - and went back outside with my coat on. I hailed a cab and gave the driver the address of the nearest music store.

I walked into the penthouse lobby and set the instrument case down next to the blanket fort, then tore it down. I moved the chairs and stood in the middle of the tangle of limbs that is called One Direction, pursed my lips together and blew.
I sound like an elephant! I thought. Whoa. I stumbled backwards, barely missing a few arms and legs before plopping down on the floor.
"Must it always be a head rush?" I asked myself, looking around. Nobody woke up. "Okay, then. I'm sorry penthouse floor, but this must be done."
I opened the instrument case, put the mouthpiece into the mouthpiece receiver and walked back into my previous position in the tangle of man-children. I licked my lips and blew into the brass instrument like I was screaming at my sisters, just as my band teacher had told me to do before I quit. He would have been proud at the noise I made. I held a B flat for as long as I could (which wasn't very long at all) then looked down at my sleepy friends.
They hadn't woken up.
"Goddammit!" I cursed.
I held the horn back up to my lips and hit the highest note: A high C. I held it longer than I had held the previous note. Soon, I heard shouts of protest coming from near my feet, so I stopped playing.
"Good morning, sunshines! The sun is up, it is not very warm out, but we all have a big, big day ahead of us to get your asses up and get moving!" I shouted, then put the French horn back in its case and brought it back to my room, satisfied.

Notes

I love this chapter. I have another wake-up scene ready for the tour bus, so I'm probably going to skip ahead as much as possible without skipping ahead too much. I'm thinking I'll skip the middle part of the day and go to the end of the concert, then skip to the UK tour.
How does that sound? Good? Good. Because that's what's going to happen. Probably.

HEY. Your official-unofficial announcements sadden me. No promises or not, I really, really, really, really, really, really, REALLY hope you decide to eventually continue. I won't even be mad if you do a rewrite but dude, you gotta do something. I WILL DIE IF THIS STORY DOES NOT CONTINUE.

It didn't sound aggressive. I'd be pissed at me, too. I found my charger, but my phone refuses to copy and paste what I've written, which was what my original plan was to do after realizing that it wasn't written in my notebook. I haven't had time to type it all up yet, but I figure that since I have nothing else to do right now (other than watch "Supernatural" and sleep), I should probably update. I've been working on chapter ideas for the sequel, typing them on my phone as they come to me and such, thinking of ways to lead up to them. I'll admit, I suck at it. But I'm working on it! I have a secret partner in crime that's going to help with it. Hopefully.
So I'm gonna quit rambling now and actually go type the chapter.

ThAT WAS FOURTEEN DAYS AGO!!!!!!!!!! Where is your charger? I didn't mean for that to sound aggressive.

To be honest, I already have the name picked out (don't laugh at me if I already said that in the sequel announcement chapter), but that's really good. I might use that for another story I'm working on.
I'm really excited for the sequel because it's going to be kind of like a fresh start, and I have a lot of ideas that I'm super duper excited to use. There's definitely going to be a lot more drama in the sequel and I'm hoping that I might make you guys cry at least once. :)
Your tears bring me great joy.

I seriously cannot wait for the sequel :) And for a name, maybe Don't Believe All You See, but that may be a bit long. Hope you update again soon!!!
