Something Great

I do absolutely nothing as I sit and stare at the computer screen. Hours later, it seems, I finally manage to stand up and walk backwards to my door. Still looking at the screen I open the door and yell for Maya.

“Hold on I’m putting the dishes away.” She says as she bangs pots and pans around.

I leave my door open and walk back to my desk not once taking my eyes off his face. Soon enough Maya comes in and sits on my bed.

“What’s up?” she says.

“Liam.” is all I can say as I point to the laptop.

“What? Let me see.” She takes the computer off my desk and sets it on her lap “Oh my god! It’s totally him!” she squeals and bounces around.

“It can’t be this easy can it?” I say sitting next to her, still in shock “Freaking Facebook!” I yell in disbelief.

“Girl what are you doing? Accept it!” she moves the mouse to the ‘Accept’ button when I yank the computer out of her hands.

“What? Are you kidding!” I jump off the bed and back to my desk “I don’t think its real Maya. Just today I was trying to speak to him, well not me but Jake and nothing happened. Do you really think this is him?”

“Well there’s only one way to find out.” She said smiling.

We sit in silence as I think about it. Fiddling with my hands I look at his face and back to Maya who still has a sweet smile nodding at me to push the button. Almost ten minutes later I get up to go to the bathroom. Holding my hips and arching my back to relieve some pain I let out a sigh and tell Maya the decision.

“Do it for me?” I say quietly as I walk out the door.

“Sure.”

When I come back in she is sitting on the chair and typing some things. I don’t want to bother her so I sit and lay on my bed. My little nugget is moving around and kicking me on the side. Even he or she knows what’s happening. Almost seven months and I have nothing ready for my child. No baby clothes or furniture. It’s like I’m not even pregnant. But unfortunately I am and the only thing I have to give this baby is a name. Lennon. Lennon Payne HA! Just kidding little one I think to myself as I rub my moving belly.

“Ok I got it. Here read it.” Maya says as she helps me up.

Dear Liam, I don’t know if you remember me but we met at a concert last October here in Phoenix Arizona. My dorky sister Stacey dragged me to your little concert and I almost died because of your crazy fans. I was stuck between them and the stage you guys were playing on and I had to get pulled out. I was taken back stage to recover when I met this funny cool guy and you came to check up on me. I guess we all went to a club and had breakfast at some restaurant as you told me. I don’t remember that night because I have ADHD as you might know what that means. I’m impulsive, disorganized, and have a very weak memory to say the least. I take medications to help with this issue and with it, I am careful of what I drink and eat as this might set off my symptoms. Long story short, this may come as a shock to you but something happened that night and I am almost seven months pregnant with your child.

“How is? Was it accurate?”

“Let me add one last thing.” I crack my knuckles and start typing my closing sentence.

If you believe me or not it doesn’t matter, I just thought you should know what I’m going through. Please believe me that I don’t need your help or money to raise this child. As I hover over the ‘Send’ button I hesitate for a brief second thinking about what could happen if Liam actually responded to me. I was about to abort the mission and call it a night when Maya pushed me aside and clicked the button. I was about to scream at her face when we hear a bing on the laptop. My only friend from Facebook was now online. F*ck.
