Something Great

I sit back down in the booth and watch Jake go outside. He’s moving all over the place making it hard for me to read his lips or expression. I take some of his fries and go refill my drink when Jake comes back in.

“Well that was easy.” He hands my phone back and shakes his head.

“Really, he believed you? What did he say?”

“No. He didn’t believe me. He just laughed at me and told me to join the Comedy Central road tour? Whatever that means?”

“So there is no hope. I knew it, why did I even try.” I shrug and sit back down, taking a gulp of my soda.

“But before he said that, I gave him all your info and told him the story of how you meet him. He kinda believed me until I forgot his name, was it Lance? I don’t know then he laughed at me.”

“Lance? Oh my god like I said there’s no hope.” I get my phone and wallet “Can you take me home now Jake, I suddenly don’t feel good.”

We leave the joint and step out into the Phoenix heat. The car ride home was awkward and silent. Thoughts racing about the conversation with Liam’s management, I wonder if Jake even tried. He pulls into the parking lot and I see Maya is already home.

“Okay thanks for the ride and stuff. See you later!” I jump out of the car and run to the sidewalk. Jake leaves the driveway and I slowdown making my way inside. I open the door and see Maya in the kitchen cooking up a storm.

We say hi and I go to my room and to take a nap. An hour later I get up to a table full of good food.

“Wow. What’s the occasion?” I say taking a piece of the tortilla

“I have a guest coming over at 2. You can stay and eat with us if you want.”

“Oh so this food isn’t for me? That’s okay I’ll just go out and party it up.”

“You crazy!” she laughs at me “So any news about the baby daddy?”

“Eww don’t say it like that!” I hit her on the arm as I walk into the kitchen “And no, he didn’t catch the bait. Or his manager didn’t.” I take an apple and bottled water.

“Well I heard if you really want to get their attention you gotta take it to the social media.” Waiting for my response and not getting one she rolls her eyes at me “You know Facebook, Twitter, InstaGram, hell maybe even Tumblr!”

“Sure.” I smile at her and walk towards my room.

“Please tell me you heard of them! At least get a Facebook! KIA!” she yells but I don’t listen.

Closing the door behind me I look around my room to find a basket full of laundry, a bed packed with clothes, and a desk full of papers. Papers’ with everything Liam, thanks to Maya who practically gave me a whole book of information on him. Sitting down I scrounge through what I can find about his residence or his concert schedules.

“Wow looks like they are taking some time off? Maybe now I can reach him somehow.” I fire up the laptop and start my social networking when I hear the doorbell.

“Hi so glad you can make it. Hope you like enchiladas!” Maya says to her mystery guest.

“Enchiladas? No fair! Maybe I can sneak by and take a piece? No Kianna! You need to get this done.” Talking to myself I rub my temples as this whole operation asks for an email address. “Email! Great I need that too!”

45 minutes later I have signed up for a Twitter, InstaGram, Tumbr, and the dreadful Facebook. “Job well done, hmm I deserve a snack.”

I get up and quietly open my door and hear no one, giving me the go ahead to enter the kitchen. “Oh yes! Thanks Maya.” The counter is full of delicious Mexican food, my favorite. I take my plate full of food back to my room when I hear the front door open.

“Yeah that trail is very beautiful when the sunsets.” Maya says to her date.

“Ah!” I run to my room and put my plate on the desk when I hear her laughing.

“Kia we have some snowcones! You want the red or blue one?”

Chewing and swallowing my mouth full of rice I head to the dining room. “Blue duh!” I say smiling when I see her date I almost choke up the rice.

“Hi Kia.”

“Hi. Kyle. Long time no see.”

“Oh wow you two know each other, that’s awesome.”

“Yeah Maya that’s Kyle. You know the one I told you about.”

“Wow you’re pregnant? How far along are you?”

“Almost 7 months, Maya guess what? I just signed up for all those stupid websites you told me about.” Ignoring him and taking my snow cone out of the freezer.

“Yay now we can really get some work done.”

“Yeah and I’ll be doing that now. Bye Kyle it was nice seeing you again.” Without a reply I turn and exit to my room just in time to hear a BING from the computer. Looking at the screen it seems I got a notification on Facebook.

“Who is L.J.? Hmm let’s find out.” I click on the link and BOOM!
