I ran across the apartment to my bedroom making a fool of myself as a nearly stumbled over all the shoes in the hallway. I picked up the phone ringing on my bedside table and sat down on the bed.

“Hello?”

“Hiiii!” I heard two girls shouting. “It’s happening! We just ordered our tickets!”

“Really? Oh my god, this is going to be the best summer ever!” I had been waiting for this to happen all year. My two best girls from High School, Maria and Sarah, had decided that they wanted to spend the summer at my place in London. After I moved away from Norway two years ago to study at UCL, I hadn’t been able to see them as much. Maria went to university in Oslo in Norway along with working part-time in a small boutique to save up for this trip. Sarah, who still lived in our hometown, had worked her butt off all year and had only had the time to visit me in London once.

“I know, it’s going to be awesome,” Sarah said, “we arrive in only two weeks”!

I could feel the butterflies in my stomach. “That’s perfect! My flatmates will be out by then, so your rooms will be waiting for you”.

“I want the room with the double bed,” Maria almost shouted and we all laughed. “What? How is that funny?” It wasn’t hard to imagine her grin across her face.

“They all have double beds silly” I replied trying to contain my laughter. How could this be the first thing she thought about?

“oh…”

The day my flatmates, Hannah and Will, were leaving we all had a big breakfast together to celebrate before they went home for their summer break. It was a bit sad to see them go, but honestly I couldn’t be more excited. Because, this could only mean that it was time for my new guests to arrive. Their flight wasn’t until tomorrow, so that left me just enough time to do the washing and cleaning before they came and made a mess of the place.

After picking up some groceries from the local shop in Camden Town, I went to my room and put on some loud music. I started looking through my closet as we were planning on having a girl’s night out tomorrow and as usual I had nothing to wear… At least that’s what I always thought… I might be able to go by the mall before they arrived at noon tomorrow if I was quick enough, I thought to myself. I knew that I was overthinking this, but I was just so excited that they had finally made enough money to come and I wanted this to be perfect! We hadn’t set any official plans yet for our holiday together, but there was no doubt that it would be a time filled with loads of crazy memories!
