Beating Heart

Jasper's P.O.V

Jolynn sings her own little fishing song while I watch the water move. My dad isn't home from work yet, so I don't know what Zayn's mom told dad.

"Sissy, can I meet your boyfriend?" Jo asks. That question just came out of nowhere.

"Yeah, sure. We're having him over for dinner tonight, anyway." I say, skipping a flat stone three times on the water.

"Yes!" She shouts as she reels in a small blue gill. She tries to take it off the hook.

"Here let me do this." I say, grabbing the wet fish and pulling the hook out of his mouth. "We can have this one for a little snack today or tomorrow. Maybe if you catch more we can make a meal out of them."

"Yeah!" She says, grabbing another worms and putting it on the hook. I help her cast it out.

"Hey, Jasper!" I hear Zayn's nice voice calling for me.

"Zayn!" I say, running to him. He twirls me around and places a kiss on my cheek.

"Is this the little Jolynn?" Zayn asks her. She nods, shyly. I laugh.

"Yeah, she was just fishing." I say as she casts into the water.

"I see." Zayn smiles.

"Yeah," I smile back at him.

"Catch anything, Jo?" I hear my dad call from behind us.

"Yeah!" She laughs.

"Good evening, Mr. Ward." Zayn says.

"Call me David." Dad says. Wow, he's in a good mood. What's going on?
