From This Moment On

Once we got back outside of the clinic, I hear my phone start to go off. Someone was calling me; I had a feeling I knew who it was. I pull it out in a swift motion and swipe my finger over the answer button without catching a glimpse of the caller ID.

“Hello?” I say in to the phone.

“Sam?!” I was quite surprised to hear Gemma on the other line. I pull my phone away from my ear to get a look at the caller ID to find she was on the other line. I smile a bit to myself as I press my phone against my ear once more. It’s been quite a long time since I last heard from her.

“Gemma! How are you, babe? I’ve missed you! What’s going on?” I say into the receiver, the smile on my face never ceasing.

“Been great, Sam! How about you, love? Oh gosh, I miss you too! How’s married life with Harold? How’s the pregnancy going?” she asks a bit loudly into the speaker. I practically have to peel the phone away from my ear it was so loud.

“The married life is great! Stronger as ever, Gemma! It’s going good, I actually just got out of an appointment, went really well!” I exclaim as my mom and I get into Harry’s Range Rover. I take a seat in the front passenger seat while my mom gets in the driver’s seat. I safely secure my seatbelt in place before my mom turned on the car.

“That’s great, love. I’m curious, but would you like to come meet me and my Mum for lunch? We’re in London and wanted to visit you and Harry for a bit. Really want to see you since we haven’t seen you in quite a while.” She says and I hear some shuffling on her end of the line.

“Yes, I’d love to – I’m with my mom right now, we could come meet you!” I tell her with a smile I knew very well she couldn’t see.

“That’s great! We just got done doing a little shopping for someone… Does Landon’s sound alright? We just pulled in actually,” she asks with a laugh. I let out a laugh because I had a feeling I knew what she was buying, a gift for mine and Harry’s baby most likely.

“Yeah, sounds good! My mom and I will meet you over there. See you soon Gemma!” I exclaim before we say goodbye and end the call. Landon’s is a great place with really good burgers and drinks. Harry and I go there sometimes when either of us are busy working. It’s a great place to hang out; the boys and the girls come along with us on occasion too, which is great fun.

“Was that Gemma? I’d love to meet up with her and Anne! Been wanting to catch up, glad we can because Skype isn’t as good as being in person,” she replies looking at me as she came to a stop at a light.

“Sure was! We’re meeting them at Landon’s, it isn’t too far from here I don’t think,” I say as I look out the window at the buildings. I pull up the maps application on my iPhone and type in ‘Landon’s Bar & Grill’. I read off the directions to my mom from the current spot we were at. It was a good five minutes away, we weren’t too far away from it.

Close to five minutes later, we arrive at Landon’s. We find a parking spot near the front, which was quite surprising, and grab our bags before getting out and locking up the car. I put my purse strap over my shoulder as my mom and I walk in through the doors that led inside the restaurant. It smelled so good, I was hungry.

As we stand there, my mom and I begin to look around for Gemma and Anne, because she had said they had just arrived. I soon notice a pair of arms waving toward me. My face turns up into a wide smile as I notice Gemma waving. My mom and I begin to make our way over to where Gemma was with Anne close by.

“Sam!” Gemma exclaims with a wide smile on her face as she gets up and begins to walk over to me. I tried my best to hurry toward her but was slower due to how big I was since I found out I was expecting. She pulls me into a hug once I make my way over to her. I smile and tighten my arms around her best I could, thanks to my growing belly.

“How are you, lovely? I’ve missed my sister in law!” she exclaims as we part from the hug.

“Been alright, this pregnancy’s been wearing me out,” I respond with a small laugh. “I’ve missed you, too, Gemma,” I tell her. She smiles and laughs at my remark. Gemma and I go over to where my mom and Anne were talking and laughing about some nonsense.

“Samantha, dear, how’ve you been, love? You’re glowing,” Anne smiles at me as she comes forward and pulls me into a hug. I smile and hug her back.

“I’ve been good, just exhausted from work and the pregnancy,” I reply with a smile as we part from the hug. “How are you doing, Anne?” I question her as we all each take a seat at the table Anne and Gemma were at. My mom and I were seated across from where Anne and Gemma were.

My mom and I each get something to drink. After a few minutes, we receive our drinks, a glass of water for me, and iced tea for my mom. We end up ordering something to eat; I decide to share something with my mom since I wasn’t too hungry from eating earlier before my appointment. After we order, my phone begins to go off.

I pull it out of my pocket to see a text from Harry. I type in the code so I could unlock my phone before I could read the message. I go to my messages and it takes me to mine and Harry’s conversation. He was just asking what I was up to and that he and the guys had just finished up with their press conference.

I begin to reply back to him, the smile still on my face. With your mom and Gemma, babe. Love you

As quickly as I sent the message, I received a text back from him. He sure does respond back quickly. Really? Where are you? I want to come, be there soon. Love you too

I send him the address of where we were. Once I send the message, I put my phone up. I feel a pair of eyes on me as I look up. “Was that from Harry?” Anne questions me, a smile on her face. I nod and smile at the sound of my husband’s name.

For the next few minutes or so, we all talk amongst ourselves and catch up with each other. Once the food comes, we begin to chow down. Next time I look up, I smile as I see Harry walking toward us, a smile plastered on his face. He comes forward and presses a kiss to my lips hugging me the best he could due to my growing belly. I smile as he rubs my ever so growing belly and whispers something to it as he leans down.

I let out a slight chuckle as he stands up straight. “How’s my beautiful wife? Love you,” he tells me once more before going over and embracing Gemma and Anne in a hug, kissing them both on the cheek.

“Harry! How I’ve missed you, sweetie, a lot. How’re things with the boys?” Anne asks as she hugs her son tightly.

“Still going great, Mum, I’ve missed you too,” he replies as they hug. They pull away a minute or so later. He is soon pulled into a tight embrace by Gemma.

“I’ve missed having you around, Harry. We need to stay in touch more, I miss talking to my baby brother,” she mutters as the two siblings hug. After they part from the hug, he gives my mom a hug and a kiss on the cheek before wrapping one of his arms around me, pulling me closer to him as much as he could. We take our seats back at the table, an extra seat beside me for Harry.

“Babe, how did the doctor’s go?” he asked, looking at me, a smile on his lips.

I beam as he looks at me. “Great! It went really well, Haz. Now that you’ve brought that up, I have something to tell you all,” I exclaim, a big smile on my face.

“What is it? Tell us, Sam!!” Gemma pressed, the smile never leaving her face. I reach into the front pocket of my bag to grab what I was looking for, my new sonogram pictures. Pulling them out carefully examining them to make sure they didn’t tear, I hand one of them to Harry.

“Pass that one around to show them, Harry,” I tell him as he takes the image in his hands and looks at it with curious eyes. His eyes become a bit wide with excitement as he stares at the image, the smile on his lips never fading.

“It looks like…i-it looks like a boy. We’re having a boy?! This is great news!” he exclaims, a wide smile on his face, his dimples coming to the surface as he looked at the sonogram picture in his hands. I just smile and nod.

“Let me see, Harry! Please?” Gemma asks, reaching out to take it from him. He hands it to her and wraps his arms around me tightly, pressing a kiss to my head. I smile and mutter an ‘I love you’ to him.

“It’s so clear, awe, I’m so happy for you and Harry, Sam! This is exciting news!” Gemma exclaims.

“I’m sure he’s going to look just like his Daddy when he grows up,” Anne says, the smile never leaving her face as she looks at the sonogram. “So very proud of you two, you’re goin’ to be great parents, can’t believe I’m going to be a grand mum soon,” Anne tells Harry and I before handing the sonogram back to me so I can put it in a safe place.

“I still can’t believe it either, but I’m incredibly happy for you two,” my mom tells Harry and I, a big smile on her face.

We all continue to chat as we finish eating. Harry steals a few bites of mine, but backs off after I warn him a few times or two. He knows, especially now since I’m eating for two, to keep his paws off my food. I’m sure he’s used to it by now, living with me – his wife – a hormonal pregnant whale who consumes everything in sight. He tells me I’m beautiful, but I didn’t think I was that good looking especially since I’m carrying so much baby weight already on my bladder.

Harry soon speaks up, all eyes on him. “I’ve been thinking since the baby will be here soon in a few months, what do you say, Sam, if we go and look at bigger homes soon?” he questions, his eyes on me as I look back at him.

Anne and my mom speak up, saying it was a good idea. I soon agreed as well, after first saying it would be too much and take too long. “Sooner the better I guess so we can get things situated for the baby,” I tell them. They all nod in agreement.

We soon finish up at the restaurant. Harry says he wanted to go home and relax from his long day having to deal with the crazy press. I agree with him, being equally as exhausted from my doctor’s appointment to being here, even though I did have fun. All I wanted was to go home and have a nice evening at home with my husband. The three of us tell Anne and Gemma that we’ll see them again soon before we are on our way back home.
