From This Moment On

Doctor's appointments & exciting news

Today, I have another doctor’s appointment to check up on the baby. I was relaxing at home a bit before I had to leave for my appointment. I also had the day off for once which was nice. I was kind of sad since Harry wasn’t here to take me. He was busy tending to a press conference with the boys so I thought I’d ask my mom who took the day off from work since I know she’d be delightful to come along.

I grab a water bottle from the fridge and take a long drink. I had just eaten some lunch, a small light salad and some fruit. It was good; I was quite surprised that it didn’t make me sick like last time. As I catch a quick glimpse of the time, I realize it was already 11:45. It was almost time to leave for my appointment, which was at 12:30.

“Mom, it’s almost noon for my appointment. Should we leave now?” I ask as I walk back into the living room to find my mom on the couch reading a magazine. She glances up and gives me a small smile in return along with a slight nod of her head.

“Yeah, I think we should,” she replies with a smile and kisses my cheek once she makes her way over to me.

I grab my purse along with my phone as I head toward the front door of the flat. My mom was following close behind. We soon get down to the lobby and head out to the parking lot where the Range Rover was parked. The lads had come to pick him up and he wanted to keep the car here since I have my appointment.

Ever since we found out about the baby, he has become more cautious of things involving me and the baby of course. His fathering instincts are slowly making its way to the surface. Just even thinking about it made me smile. He is so proud to be dad, just as much as I am to soon become a mom. Even though, we would have liked to have had things in our lives planned out before the baby, things don’t always go as planned. There are always curveballs thrown in along the way at some point.

My mom and I get in the Range Rover and are soon on our way to the doctor’s office. She was driving and I was in the front passenger seat. I feel my phone buzz in my bag. Pulling out my iPhone, I glance at the screen to see a text from Harry. I smile and let out a laugh as I begin to read his text.

He was asking me how my appointment went and told me that he was missing me. That immediately made me smile. He was too funny. I go to my messages so I could reply back.

Hi babe. You’re too funny! I’m heading to my appointment now, with my mom. I miss you too! I’ll let you know how it goes! Love you babe xo

I put my phone away after I send the text. Next time I glance up, I notice we were here at the doctor’s office. My mom parks the car in an empty parking space and turns off the car and pulls the keys out. We get out and walk in through the sliding glass doors. I go right up to the window so I could sign in. I wrote my name and put the time of my appointment and stuff down before I go over to where my mom was waiting for me in the waiting room.

My eyes began to wander around the room we were in. Waiting rooms made me nervous, especially since I am expecting myself and will soon have my own child with Harry beside me the entire way. I was kind of down since he couldn’t come with me today, but I’ll get to see him later so it won’t be so bad. I couldn’t wait to get this over with; all of the small kids that were in this room with their parents wouldn’t stop fidgeting.

“Samantha Styles?” I glance up at the sound of my name lightly tapping my mom on the shoulder. I slowly rise up out of my seat and begin to head over toward the door where a lady stood in a pair of scrubs. She smiled at me and pushed the door open a bit wider for me to walk through, my mom behind me. The dark-haired woman leads me and my mother into an available empty room.

“Your doctor will be with you in a few,” she told me with a kind smile before turning and walking out of the room. As she walked out, the door was closed softly. I was sitting in one of those uncomfortable plastic chairs, a hand on my growing stomach.

My mom and I sit and talk quietly amongst each other until the door opens. My OB/GYN, Dr. Wilson soon walks in and smiles as she notices me sitting there. She was holding a clipboard with papers on it, most likely my information.

“Hi there Samantha, how’ve you been? Ready to see how the baby’s doing?” she asks and pats the spot on the table with the wax paper over it.

“Doing good, thanks. More than ready, actually,” I say with a soft laugh as I slowly get up, holding onto my stomach and set my purse in the chair I was sitting in. I sit down onto the paper and lean back.

“Lift your shirt and we’ll get started,” she says as she takes a seat on the rolling chair and begins to mess with the ultrasound machine. I lift my shirt up to expose my growing belly as I ready myself for her to place the cold liquid on my stomach.

“It’s going to be quite cold,” she says looking at me as she moves forward to rub the cool liquid on my exposed belly.

I just nod and give her a small smile in return. She begins to rub the liquid on my stomach before slowly moving the wand over my stomach. As I look at the screen, a fuzzy image soon comes up. I smile as it comes up and begins to move. My baby, I mean our baby was on the screen. I wish Harry was here, he’s been waiting for this day.

“There’s your baby. Everything looks real good, he’s super healthy and looks like he’s been moving around in there quite a lot,” she said. I wasn’t expecting that to come out of her mouth. After a few minutes, I open my mouth to speak but only mumble some nonsense. I feel my lips curve up into a big smile as I look over at my mom who had a smile just as big on her face. A boy, Harry and I were having a boy!

“I-It’s a boy?” I question with a big smile as I look at Dr. Wilson.

She nods, “Sure is, love,” she says as she begins to wipe off the liquid from my stomach with a cloth. I pull my shirt down over my belly before I slowly sit up with the help of my mom. She was holding onto my hand and was looking at me with a smile on her face. Tears were building up in her eyes.

“Would you like a few new sonogram pictures of the baby?” Dr. Wilson asks looking at me and then at my mom.

“Yes please, would you mind if I got a few extra for a couple of my friends?” I ask, the smile never leaving my face as I looked at my doctor who was now standing in the doorway.

“I sure can, darling. Three sound alright? I’ll be right back so I can go print ‘em off, won’t take long but a few minutes,” she says before walking out, quietly shutting the door behind her as she walked out.

I nod before turning back to my mom as I tightened my grip on her hand so she could help me down. My mom helps me down from where I was sitting. I take the seat right beside my mom and set my purse in my lap. Pulling out my phone, while my mom and I wait for Doctor Wilson, I decide to check my messages. I had two text messages; one from Harry and one from Hannah.

I type my pass code into my phone before going to my messages so I could read them since they got cut off where I couldn’t read the full thing. I went to Harry’s first.

Hi there, love. Let me know how it goes. The lads and I are just chilling right now before we have to go back and talk nonsense about the album. Wish I was with you instead. Love you x

Hi baby. It went well, very well. My Mom and I are just waiting for the sonogram pictures then we’re heading out. Have some big news to tell you! I love you too. xo

After I send the text to Harry, I go to my messages list and click on my conversation with Hannah.

Hey girl! Heard from Li that you have your appt. with doc today! Hope it goes well and that you get me a sonogram pic this time, love, ‘cause you know I’ve been waiting for one. ;) miss you, lovely. Lunch date soon? xo c:

Han! You get one this time, girl ;) I miss your lovely face too, darling. Yes, definitely! <3

After I send that message, I glance up to see Doctor Wilson walk back into the room, about four or five small sonogram images in her hand.

“Here you are, Samantha. Send Harry a hello for me. Was nice seeing you again, darling,” she says and pulls me into a hug. I smile and hug her back.

“I sure will! You too!” I tell her as we part from the hug.

She hands me my new sonogram pictures. Compared to the last one, you could actually tell it was a boy, especially since the first two were quite blurry. I smile and tighten my hand around the small papers I held in my hand, phone grasped tightly in the other. My mom and I get up and make our way out of the room. I place the sonogram pictures carefully into an empty pocket in my bag where I knew they wouldn’t get destroyed.
