Psychic or Psycho?

Jace's POV

I gently removed my lips from Niall's, my eyes still closed. I smile and open my eyes. Niall is there, just looking shocked.

"Niall," I say, waving my hand over his eyes. He snaps back to reality, emotionless.

"So...."

"So.." I look back at the Institute. So this is where I'm going to be living. Great. "Niall, we should probably enroll me at the Institute," I say awkwardly.

"What? Oh, yeah," he says and starts to clean up the mess we've made from the picnic.

When we finish, we walk back to the Institute in an eerie silence, which I don't like. When we are back at the screen door, a stop him.

"And Niall?"

"Yeah, Jace?"

I kiss his cheek, slipping my hand into his.

"Thank you," I say when I pull away. This time he blushes and says your welcome. He sets the picnic basket down on the table, still holding my hand.

Niall brings me down through a hallway. He knocks on a door and waits.

"Come in," says a female voice. Niall opens the door and lets go of my hand, walking in before me. I shyly follow him, looking at the woman. She has small spectacles and a grey suit on.

"Ms.Elbern, Jace here would like to stay here with us," Niall says, stepping aside so she could look at me. I try to hide my eyes with my bangs, looking down at my feet.

"Of course she can stay. I've always wanted a girl, but I've only gotten boys. Figures," she chuckles. "Why?"

"Family problems," I whisper just loud enough for her to hear it.

"Okay, that's fine. Niall, show her to the girl's chambers," she said and went back to working on her computer.

Niall took my hand again and closed the door behind him. He stopped me, holding my shoulder with either of his hands.

"You don't need to hide your eyes. They're..... Beautiful."

"But the people at school-"

"But nothing. You are going to take pride in your eyes and your gift. Got it?" I nodded.

He led me down another hallway and let me pick any of the rooms, since I was the only girl in the wing. Or the Institute.

"Thanks, Niall. For everything," I said, hugging him before I shut the door to my new room.
