Free Falling

*Addison's POV*
Even though it had been 5 months, it hurt every time I saw her in the frame beside my bed. Every morning I woke to her smiling face. That was before she got sick, before the pain, before she lost her hair. That was from before my world turned upside down. I slowly pushed my covers off of my legs exposing them to the cold chill of the winter air. I slipped on my jeans and pulled a shirt over my head. I heard a soft knock at my door. It was Evelyn. She said, “Can you braid my hair?” I patted my bed and plopped down. I braided her hair as we sat in silence. I saw her glance at mom's picture and quickly look away. None of us really talked about it much because it brought up hard memories, we just dealt with it. After I was done she scurried out my room running down the stairs. After finishing my hair I made my way downstairs to hear my brothers arguing, which wasn't new these past few months.

Landon, yelled, “Seriously Wyatt, quit it. I can't even handle you anymore. Jeez, Dad, would you do something???” My dad sat on the stool at the kitchen table running his hands through his hair. He didn't say a word. They looked at each other and then looked at me. I didn't say anything just looked back at them.

Landon said, “Well, we better get going.” We all silently followed him to the car. We dropped Evelyn off at Brookside Middle and then continued on to school. Landon swerved into a spot and we all stepped out, walking in sync as we walked towards school.

Harry's POV*

I was nervous, my first day at a new school. I walked in running a few minutes late. I hurried around the corner running into a group of kids. There was a guy a little bigger, another kid who seemed to be a little younger, and a girl. I stopped and stared without noticing. She looked up at me, her striking brown eyes glowed. What must have been seconds later a felt a small shove.

“Hey man, can you move?” said the guy looking a bit annoyed. “Can we help you.”

“Oh sorry man, I'm Harry. What are your names? I'm new so I don't really know anyone.”

“Landon, see ya around man.” He walked past me leaving the other two in the dust.

“How bout' you love?” I asked the girl. She looked around awkwardly, wondering if I was talking to her. “Yes you,” I reassured.

“Her names Addison, and I'm Wyatt. Now if you would excuse us....” said the younger boy. I had nearly forgotten about him. He pulled her arm and she looked over her shoulder and smiled as he dragged her away.
Maybe this wouldn't be such a bad year after all.
