Running scared

"What do I need to do?" I look at Perrie.
"Well first we need to find Luke. Since you can read minds it could be much easier to track him down"
"Whoa" Ed said as his phone started ringing.
"What?" Perrie and I turned to him. He shows us the screen. Harry.
"Shit.. put him on speaker phone" Perrie said eyeing me
"Hi Hazz" Ed answered
"Please please tell me Lizzie isn't with you" Harry's husky voice fills the car.
"Um…" Ed was looking at us.
"I told you she is off limits to these operations" Harry's voice got deeper
"Calm down Styles, I only joined the ride" I take the phone out of Ed's hand
"Liz you listen to me, get on a train back here" He ordered me
"NO way, I'm staying" I tell him
"No- no you're not- you have no experience with things like this yet and as it is Company X is on this kid's radar so I don't want you anywhere near them" I could hear by his voice he was angry.
"I've got to go Styles, talk to you later" I hang up the phone and hand it back to Ed.
"What should we do?" Perrie asked him
"Maybe he's right? Maybe it was a bad idea bringing her" He answered
"Wow no! I want to be here, I can help" I say holding up my hands
"But if something happens to you" Ed starts
"What can happen? We find Luke and take him with us. It will go fast, we'll be back before Harry knows it" I smile
"I bet you he's on his way here now" Perrie said quietly
"Harry? He would make the 4 hour journey just because I'm not willing to go back?" I'm skeptical of this.
"You don't know Harry" Ed says looking at Perrie
"Listen I'm here already so why don't you use me?"
"Fine let's get going then, get this over with" Perrie says opening the car door.

We've been walking up and down the walkway for hours, but there was no sign of Luke.
"Are you sure this is the place?" I asked Ed
"Liam said he was here last, and he should still be here today" Perrie joined us.
"Wait!" I quiet them, I am picking up on something.
'That lady looks like she should have a bunch of cash' I look to my far left, and that's when I see him "Over there- the boy with the hat on" I say.
"How are we going to approach him without him running off?" Perrie wondered
"We have bigger problems" Ed said pointing to the right. Two men in suits were striding Luke's way. I recognize the face of the taller man- That is the man Ed took his memory away in Manchester.
"I can't be seen by him" Perrie lowered her head, pulling the hood of her jumper over.
"We need to get to Luke fast" Ed looked at me
"Let me" I walk away from them swiftly not leaving them time to debate. I am watching Luke from the corner of my eye not wanting to scare him. I need to come up with a way to approach him fast before it's too late.
"Luke" I smile at him when I'm about four paces away. I open my arms to him, pulling him close in a hug. I kiss his cheek, as if we are best of friends, leaving my cheek touching his, I whisper in his ear "Listen carefully, you see the two blokes behind me in suits? They are after you, we need to get out of here now" I pull away and smile at him
"Who are you?" His eye are flickering from me to the suits and back again.
"I promise you I will tell you everything, I'm here to help, let's go" I take his hands and we start walking fast taking the first turn we have.
"Get us out of here now" I tell him
"How?" He is in shock not sure what is going on
"Word on the street is you can teleport, did you ever take someone with you?"
"No" He shook his head looking over my shoulder
"Well now is the time to try something new love" I say.
He takes my hands in his. At that moment the two suited blokes turn the corner, they both have guns pointed at us.
"Don't do anything stupid son" One said
"I'm not your son" Luke hissed at him. There was a big bang that made me shut my eyes. I felt as if the earth was taken from under my feet and replaced with wind, then I hit the ground hard and roll over, my bad foot not able to hold the weight of the impact.
"You did it" I look up at him. He is standing over me, a haunted look in his eyes.
"Who the hell are you? And who were those people?" He said in a scared voice.
"Calm down mate" I get to my feet. I am wobbly, landing funny on my hurt leg.
'Calm down? The fuck she is telling me to calm down- I'm out of here'
"No wait don't leave!" I answer his thought
"What?" His eyes went wide
"I reacted just like you when I found out there were more like me" I held up my hand to him, to let him know I'm not looking to hurt him.
'More like her? What is going on?'
"Yes there are more people like us" I say to him
'IS she reading my mind??' his eyes go even wider.
"Yes, I am.." I drop my hands to my sides "Listen Luke, there are bad people hunting us down- they are here to look for you. I can take you to a safe place"
"Who are those people?" He asked me
"They belong to this company called Company X, come with me and I'll tell you all about it" I raise my hand for him to take, but he just stood there looking at me.
'How do I know she can be trusted?'
"You don't, you can stay here and get caught or trust me that I'm speaking the truth"
'Liz where are you?' I hear Perrie's thought.
"Perrie I'm here" I yell out "I have two friends here that are just like us" I explain to Luke. Perrie and Ed come into view "We have to get out of here" She is looking over her shoulder.
"Luke, these are Ed and Perrie, they will take us to a safe place where we can tell you all about us and Company X" I search his face for any resistance. I can tell he is confused and scared but it seems as if he is willing to join us.
"Ok let's go" Ed says and turns to lead the way back to the car. We look out at the street to make sure the coast is clear.
"Fuck the Suits are here" Perrie looks back at us
"What should we do?"Luke was looking at me for guidance.
"Luke, you think you can take with you more than one person?" I look into his eyes.
'I don't know' I read him
"Ok, Take Perrie with you, get to the car, Ed and I will meet you there" I say
"No we can't get separated" Perrie shook her head.
"We have too, we don't have too many choices" Ed said "Go with Luke we will meet you soon".
Perrie took Luke's hands in hers looking up into his eyes "I'm trusting you" She told him
"Keep each other safe" I tell them and with that they were gone.
"Wow" Ed took a step back looking at the spot Luke and Perrie just despaired from.
"Yeah amazing, let's get out of here" I pull at his arm.
I pull my hood over my head and shove hands into my pockets. Ed is following me.
'Liz walk faster they've noticed us' Ed was thinking at me. I pick up my pace, heart beating faster in my chest.
"Let's split" I tell Ed
"No" He hisses to me
"It's are best shot" I tell him and cross the road. I look back making sure Ed isn't following me. The suited men split two, one following me while the other is after Ed.
I start running, trying to expand the distance between me and Suits.
I take a right into a building, crossing the corridor to the back door and out to the open once again. I'm in the back of London, all the beauty of the streets is gone, left with the dirty garbage filling the empty space. Dark has fallen upon making everything around me look much more forgotten and stale. I hear footsteps and bend behind a big rubbish can looking for the source of the sound.
"Come out come out wherever you are" The suited man says, playing with the gun in his hand.
"If you come out and join me I promise no harm will come to you" He says
'Just one prick to your arm and we'll be off' I read him. I take a step back, knocking a piece of metal over, making a loud noise.
I pick the pole up and make a run for it. Suit's is running after me. I take a right just to find out that the ally is blocked. I'm trapped.
"Here we go" I hear the suit behind me. I turn around holding the pole up in both hands ready to strike if he comes any closer. My ears are ringing from the adrenalin filling my veins, my body going into survival mode.
"Now, now.. put that down love, we don't want anyone to get hurt do we" The man in front of me smiled
"Why don't you put your gun down, if no one should get hurt?" I ask him struggling to keep my voice under control. I can see I'm doing a bad job by the expression on his face.
"Why don't you tell me where the boy is and I'll let you go?" He smiled at me.
I can tell it's a lie, if it is up to him, I'm not getting out of here alive.
"What boy?" I play dumb
"You know who I'm talking about" He tilts his head to the side making his neck click.
"Who are you?" I ask instead
"I ask the questions" He took a step closer to me. I clench the pole in my hands harder feeling sweat form at the sides of my forehead and between my fingers. I am determent no matter my fear to fight back. If I go done I'll go down fighting.
The man as if reading my mind, puts the gun away and picks up from by his feet a pole of his own.
"If you want to fight the least I can do is give you a fair chance" He smiles
"How noble of you" I mock him.
"You have quite a mouth on you" He came closer to me "If you were my daughter you'd be punished"
"Good thing I'm not your daughter then" I strike at him. He blocks my hit with his own pole, making me stumble back.
"If you're going to fight, at least make sure you know how" he says making a move himself, the force of his blow knocking my pole out of my hands.
"Where is the boy?" He asks me again. He is now standing over me, my back against the ally wall.
'What a pretty face this one has.. Maybe I should have some fun before I get rid of her' I turn my head in disgust.
"You're scared of me- good" He chuckles touching my cheek.
"No, you just make me want to vomit" I say. Here goes nothing I think to myself and punch him in the face.
He catches my hands in his squeezing me to the wall shaking his head slightly
"That's not a way to throw a punch love- but this is"
I feel as if all the air is knocked out of me, his knuckles collide with my cheek bone sending my head back smashing into the wall. My vision goes blurry. I would have fallen to the earth if he wasn't holding me up.
"You just made me hit a girl" He was hurting my arms, his face close to mine. I do the only thing I can think of doing- I collect all the saliva I can in my mouth and shoot it in his face.
He knocks me off my feet wiping at his face "You bitch" He shouts.
I try to crawl away from him, but my head is hurting making me move in slow motion.
He gets a hold of my legs pulling me back. I cry out as he hurts my bad leg. He turns me to my back kneeling on top of me, a knee on each side of my body, holding my hands down by my head.
"Where is the boy??" He screams into my face
I try to break free of his hold but it's no use. He is bigger and stronger than me.
"Answer me damn it" He smashes my hands to the pavement, pain shooting from my wrists to my elbows.
"I don't know" I whisper in pain
"Yes you do- I saw you together" He leaned in to me, his face just an inch from mine.
"You'll never get your Company hands on him" I give him a dark look.
"You know about the company?" He leans back and let's go of one of my hands just to get to his gun. I seize the moment and scratch my nails across his fingers holding to my other wrist.
He lets go, but just to hold his gun in both hands and aim it at my face. I hold my hands by the sides of my head and squeeze my eyes close "Don't" I say
"Tell me where the boy is then" He says quietly
"I don't know we got separated"
"Then too bad for you"
I read his mind knowing this is the end, him getting ready to pull the trigger.
