Fix Me

Chapter 3

Harry's POV

"Alright lads, let's move out."

I follow Zayn out of the house while the others trail behind. Everyone is here right now, which never happens. We're meeting at the abandoned field at the edge of the city.

Then we fight.

As much as I love to beat the shit out of people, this is so pointless. It's not going to solve anything. These guys are just going to get pissed and make even more trouble for Zayn.

Oh well, that isn't my problem. All I have to worry about is winning so I can get the fuck out of here.

Then I can find her.

My heart skips a beat when I think about Lana. I'm still just as in love with her as I was when I left Holmes Chapel two years ago. I can't get her out of my head, not that I tried very hard. I haven't so much as laid a finger on a girl since I left. I don't want to do anything to make her think that I've changed, that I don't love her anymore.

Well, other than the fact that I peaced the fuck out without a word. She probably isn't going to forgive me very easily for that one.

But she can't still be mad, right? It was a long time ago. She's probably moved on by now. Wait, no I don't want that!

Unless someone else makes her happy...

No, no one can make her happy like I can. She's mine. Only mine.

"Harry, mate, get you're head in it," Liam says, patting my back a few times. I shake my head and put my energy into getting ready for the fight. We all pile into our cars and drive to the field in succession. Liam, Zayn and I drive together.

"Did you tell him yet?" I ask Zayn, who's sitting in the passenger seat. Liam is driving.

"No."

"Don't you think you should? If we win I'm not even coming back to the house, Zayn. My shit is in the car, I'm getting out of here."

"What are you talking about?" Liam asks, looking at me quickly before he looks back at the road.

"Zayn said I could leave," I say simply. Zayn's jaw tightens at my words and Liam looks surprised.

"Oh. Good to know."

"But we have to win. So fight for your fucking life," I joke, patting Liam's arm. This is the first time I've smiled in a while.

I really hate it here.

When we get to the field everyone piles out of the cars. There's probably about 60 of us. Weird, I didn't think we had numbers like that. This new gang definitely doesn't have as many as we do, so this shouldn't be very hard. Plus, the agreement was no weapons. Makes for a fair fight.

Well, as fair as it can be. Really they don't stand a chance.

We all stand around for a while, most of the guys smoking and dicking around, getting pumped up. I lean against the car, standing in a group with the higher ranking guys.

"Harry, pay attention," Max snaps, snapping his fingers in front of my face. I could rip his throat out.

"Fuck off, Max," I spit, smacking his hand away. Liam steps between us and pushes Max out of the circle to give him a little talking to. Liam. Always the peacekeeper.

I don't know why we always talk strategy before these fights, it never works. As soon as a punch is thrown all hell breaks loose; everyone just goes ape shit and starts beating the shit out of each other. It's ridiculous, but oh well.

The other group shows up and I'm surprised to see that they're numbers are pretty even with ours. Oh well, they all look scrawny as shit. Most of them must still be in high school. Pathetic.

We all walk over and meet in the middle. Zayn has a staredown with the other leader before one of his guys lunges forward and knocks over one of our smaller guys.

Here we go.

I stare beating the shit out of them, taking two at a time mostly. They're all really small and they are shit at fighting. I get a few punches to the face and some claw marks on my back, but nothing too bad. This is the weakest fight I've ever seen. One guy even pulled my hair. What do they think this is? A bitch fight? What kind of guy pulls hair?

After about a half hour they start running back to their cars, meaning they've given up. That was quick.

And a little too easy.

Oh well, that's not my problem. When they've all left all the guys start celebrating, high-fiving each other and jumping on each other's backs. No one is too beaten up. That was pathetic, really. Why would that guy even try to fight us with guys like that? Does he have a death wish?

"I'm leaving," I shout to Liam, making myself heard above the noise. We exchange an awkward hug and he nods as I turn to get my shit out of the car. Zayn stops me.

"Harry, are you really just going to leave?"

"Yup, I am. Goodbye Zayn. Don't come near me ever again, got it?"

"You can't do anything to me, Harry. I'll do whatever the fuck I want," he spits. As he turns and walks away I stop him.

"Unless you want me telling the police about your little drug operation, I would stay away."

He turns on his heels to glare at me. He looks pissed. "What the fuck did you just say to me?"

"You heard me. Come near me, Lana, or anyone I care about again and I go to the police."

"You don't have proof."

"Whether I do or not is irrelevant. One anonymous tip and they'll be on your asses for the next five years, paying attention to everything you do. But just so you know, I do have proof."

"You would go to jail, too, you realize that?"

"No, I never sold anything, remember?"

His eyes go darker as he realizes that he can't touch me. Ever again. I smirk at him and give him a small wave. "Goodbye Zayn. Enjoy your sad, pathetic life."

To my surprise, he doesn't yell or try to stop me. He just watches as I get my duffle bag out of the car and walk away. Gemma still lives in the city, so I decide to go there for tonight. I won't be able to get to Holmes Chapel tonight anymore, it's too late. Is that even where Lana is? I don't know, but I have to find out. I get a cab while I'm walking and he drives me the rest of the way to her flat. That old guy she told me about at Christmas two years ago? Yeah, she's living with him.

I don't like it one bit. But he treats her alright, I guess. She could do worse. They live in his house now, together. Ew.

When we pull up I hand the driver some money and step out of the cab. The lights are on, so they're still awake hopefully. I knock on the door loudly a few times and wait. I hear a chain being pulled away before the door swings open.

"Harry? What are you doing here?"

"Nice to see you too, Gem."

"Oh, sorry. Come in, Come in," she waves me inside and closes the door so she can lock it again. "Is everything okay?"

"I'm going home," I tell her. She looks confused at first, then her eyes go wide when she realizes what I'm talking about.

"You're going back!" she squeals, pulling me into a tight hug. I smile and wrap my arms around her tiny frame. "That's so good, Harry. You must be so happy."

She pulls back and I shrug. "I'm so excited to see her, Gem. But I don't know if she'll want to see me."

"Of course she will."

"But what if she doesn't? What if she never forgave me? What if she's dating someone else?"

"Harry, calm down. Why don't you go find her before you start girling out."

"Sweetheart, who's there?" Great, not the old guy. He walks down in from the kitchen and sighs in relief when he sees me. "Oh, Harry. It's just you. How are you? Is that a cut on your lip?"

"Oh, just dandy. Had a little fight."

Gemma gives me a warning look before looking closer at my face. "Wait, you're actually bleeding. What happened?"

"I got in a fight," I repeat, shrugging. "It was no big deal, I'm fine."

"You're such an idiot," she says, rolling her eyes. "Do you want to stay here tonight?"

"If you don't mind. I'm just going to take the train to Holmes Chapel tomorrow."

She furrows her eyebrows. "Why would you go there?"

"That's where she lives, Gem."

"Harry, Lana moved to London. She goes to school there. Didn't you know that? Haven't you been reading any of mum's letters?"

The letters. My mother has been writing to me at least once a week for the past two years, since I changed my phone number and didn't give it to anyone that could tell Lana where I am. Basically the only person I haven't cut out of my life is my sister, and I don't even see her that much. After a few weeks I stopped opening my mum's letters; it was just two hard. I guess she thought I would want to hear about how Lana is doing and what she's up to, but I couldn't handle it. I knew it would be a long time before I got to see her again, so I just needed to try not to think about her. Easier said than done, trust me. Gemma had been delivering the letters for me. I never responded, so I don't know why my mother didn't just give up.

"No, I stopped reading them."

She gives me a look of pity before sighing and walking up the stairs. I follow and what's his name, the old one, walks behind me as well, shutting off all the lights and making sure the door is locked. Gem let's me into the spare room and gets clean sheets and towels so I can clean up. I look like hell, to be honest. I'm surprised Gemma didn't really say anything.

When I finally crawl under the covers I feel dead tired. Even still, it takes forever for me to fall asleep, and when I do my head is filled with nightmares about Lana being dead or Zayn kidnapping her.

Staying awake might be better.

After a while angry birds gets kind boring. I decide to allow myself to do something I only did every one in a while over the last two years. Open the album on my phone filled with pictures of Lana. While I'm flipping through them I can't help but wonder what she's like now. Has she changed? Does she look the same? I wonder if she's happy.

I really hope she is.

The first train out is at 7:30, so at 6:30 I get up and make some coffee. Gem comes downstairs and fills me in on a few things. We had never talked about Lana before when I saw her. I told her not to, it was too hard for me.

"I don't know very much, to be honest. After you left she didn't talk to anyone apparently. She locked herself in her room and just-"

"Gemma, please don't tell me that," I beg, pinching the bridge of my nose between my fingers. I don't want to know how horrible it was for her when I was gone. I was miserable, so I would imagine she felt the same. "I can imagine how she felt, I don't need you confirming it for me."

"Sorry. The point is when she did start talking to people again, she refused to see mum. Or me. So anything we know is through her dad or one of her friends."

"So she goes to school in London, now?"

"Yep. University of London." I smile at that. She really wanted to get in there, it was her first choice. "I'm not sure what program. I don't know where she lives, either."

"What about the rest? Do you know where her friends went?"

"I think the blonde one ended up going to Ireland, and then Louis and Ellen-"

"Eleanor."

"Sure. They both went to the same school as Lana. And Niall lives in London, but I don't think he's in school anymore."

I guess that means Brooke and Niall aren't together anymore. Louis and El must be, there's no way they would have broken up. Gemma fills me in a few other things that have happened with all of them, but nothing of major importance. If Lana wasn't speaking to them anymore, then I guess they wouldn't have a very good way of finding things out. Plus, my mum isn't a very nosy person, so she probably didn't even think of trying to.

"I should get going."

"I'll drop you off at the train stations," Gemma says, sliding a jacket on and grabbing her keys. She drives me in silence. I want to talk to her, but I can't help but think about Lana. Nothing in particular, just thinking about her. I have no idea how this is going to go. I really hope she doesn't hate me.
