Apocalyptic Love

Lia’s POV

My face hit the seat in front of me cutting my head near my hairline. The car slammed to a stop. The sound of screaming and crying filled my ears. I glanced up and Kylie was on the floor crying. She seemed unharmed otherwise. Niall was also next to me on the floor. He seemed okay, just a little shaken up. I glance up and Harry was breathing heavily. He seemed fine, as well as Louis. Liam quickly picked up Kylie and began soothing her.

“What the hell happened?” Liam asked angrily.

“There was a deer.” Harry said simply. The whole entire world falls to pieces, and we nearly die because of a deer?

“It was going really fast. That must mean they’re near.” Louis said.

“Is everyone okay?” Harry said. We all nodded. He glanced up at me in the mirror.

“Lia, you’re bleeding!” Harry said. Everyone looked at me, including Ian who cupped my hand in his chin and spun my head around.

“Do you guys have anything I can use to help her out a bit?” Ian asked.

“I’m fine Ian.” I whined.

“No you’re not.”

“Ian, I’ve bled before!”

“You’re so stubborn!”

“No I’m not, you are!” I glanced around and everyone was staring at my brother’s and I’s conflict. Once I looked at them they all quickly looked away.

“Yeah, we have a first aid kit in the back.” Louis said, eager to help. He opened the door, and got it from the trunk. He then handed it to Ian and we started driving again.

Ian then picked me up and sat me, facing him, on his lap. He help me chin and wiped my cut with an antibiotic wipe. I can’t believe that the whole world ended, I made it this far, and I’m being treated like a child over a tiny cut. I sat with my arms crossed over my chest. I flinched when he applied some sort of creamy thing. He put his hand on my back and rubbed circles.

He soon applied some sort of bonding strips and he was done. The cut was pretty long so a took a good fifteen minutes. He then wrapped his arms around me and held me tight. I put my head in his shoulder and he stroked the top of my head. He then planted a soft kiss right on the top of my head. He held me tight.

“I love you sis.” He whispered in my ear.

“I love you too.” I whispered back. I could see Harry glance up at us through the mirror and a smile played at the end of his lips. He looked back at the road , but his smile stuck. Thank gosh he looked back at the road, we didn’t need another close call today.

I looked over at Liam and Kylie. Kylie had now calmed down and was sleeping on Liam’s shoulder. Liam was stroking her hair and had one hand wrapped around her. He seemed to be holding her a little tighter than before. Liam glanced up at me and smiled. I never really noticed how beautiful of a smile he had.

I again put my head against Ian’s shoulders and closed my eyes. This time it was impossible to sleep. I looked up at Ian and he seemed to be having the same problem. Not that it’s unusual for me. I always have trouble sleeping. Especially after what happened to my parents.

“So, what’s your favorite movie?” Harry asked out of the blue. I was kind of taken aback. That was a very unusual question. I mean no one these days asks questions like that. Well, let’s just say not a lot is normal nowadays.

“I like either Titanic or the Avengers.” I said.

He looked surprised. “I absolutely love Titanic!” He yelled.

“How many times have you seen it?”

“Nineteen.”

“Twenty three!” I said. “Ha!”

He shook his head and me and laughed.

“Favorite song?” He asked.

“Ho Hey by The Lumineers.” I said with a smile on my face.

“Good choice. Favorite color?”

“Orange.”

“Favorite food?”

“I haven’t had them in a long, long time but chocolate covered almonds.”

Harry laughed. “Interesting. Favorite animal?”

”Giraffe.” Harry laughed even harder this time.

“Quite the imagination you’ve got there!” He said in between gasps of air.

“Oh shut it!” I yelled. That made him laugh even harder. By now we were both bent over in laughter.

“Harry keep your eyes on the road!” Liam whisper-yelled, still holding Kylie tightly in his arms. I think that if Liam ever had the chance he would be a great father. I really hope that one day, he will get the chance. Harry quickly shot his eyes back towards the road but was still chuckling.

“How about your birthday?” He asked.

“October fourth.”

“So yesterday.” He said.

“You still keep track of dates?” I asked, surprised.

“Yeah, every single one of them.”

“Wow, I’m impressed. I’m more worried about surviving the day than keeping track of the day.”

He just shrugged. “Happy belated birthday!” He said happily. A rosy red blush creeped on the top of my cheeks. What are you doing Lia?! Stop that!

“Thanks. I said. “That means I’m sixteen.”

“It was your sweet sixteen!” Harry said excitedly. I just shrugged, trying not to make a big deal out of the whole thing. Louis mumbled something in his sleep, then awoke.

“Harry mate, have you seen anything?” Louis said in morning voice.

“Nope, not for miles.”

“Damn it!” He said angrily. He sat there for a while with a thinking look on his face. “Harry, I think it’s time we moved on.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean I think it’s time we left Missouri and see if there’s anyone out there. Anyone who has a group, a town even! Or even a cure!” He said.

“Louis, I don’t know.” Harry said skeptically.

“Think about it! We could be living happily! Not worrying about whether or not we’re going to live to see tomorrow! We wouldn’t be constantly moving! Kylie could have a normal life and not remember any of this! She’ll be normal! We’ll all be normal!” Louis emphasized.

“We’ll have to talk to the guys about it. See what they think.” Harry said. I don’t think they realized I had been listening to their conversation this entire time until I chimed in.

“I think that’s a wonderful idea Louis.” I said plainly. Harry and Louis both spun around and looked at me. Harry quickly turned back around realizing that he was driving.

“Thank you Lia.” Louis said.

“You are one hundred percent welcome Louis.” I said.

“Guys, I think we need to take a rest stop. Kylie is getting antsy from sitting so long.” Liam said suddenly.

Alright, we’ll stop in a couple of minutes. As soon as we find somewhere safe enough. Harry said. And with that I leaned back and thought, we might as well never stop. Nowhere on this earth is ever going to be safe again.
