Afraid of Falling in Love

The Sound of Your Voice

Harry's POV

*Two Months Later*

Harry gently removed the straps off Karry from her car seat. She had done well and had been released for a week now. It was pleasure to have her by his side all time now, he thought as he placed her in her stroller. He was surprised how quickly he adjusted to fatherhood, but in desperate situations one really didn't have a choice. He took care of Karry as much as he could but when he had to leave for work he left her with his mum. He really hated having to leave her but was thankful for his mothers help. Harry wouldn't make the same mistake again, every second was now gold. Harry strolled into the hospital and stopped at the front desk to sign in, he waved to a few of the nurses he was now on first name bases on.

"She growing really fast," the nurse, Rachel walked around the desk to peer into the stroller. Harry knew she was sweet on him but he didn't pay her any mind. He was over that part of his life. It was evident no one compared to Karmina.

"Yeah, she is," Harry smiled and pushed the stroller into the elevator. They stepped of on Karmina's floor and bumped into Gabrielle in the hallway. She leaned against the wall, phone in hand.

"Goodmorning Gabrielle," Harry stopped so he was about three feet away from her. She smiled and gave Harry side by side pecks on each cheek.

"Look at the bébé," she leaned in to look at Karry. This happened very often.

"What are you doing out here?" Harry waved a hand around.

"The blonde Barbie is in there again, along with those monsters," Gabrielle rolled her eyes. Harry knew she was talking about Taylor and Karmina's parents.

"I see," Harry sighed and proceeded into the room. He saw Taylor at the bed brushing Karmina's hair as her parents sat at the benches talking amongst themselves, as if they were a lunch.

"Thanks Taylor," he smiled at her as he rolled the stroller by the bed.

"No problem," she smiled and got up to look at Karry.

"My precious granddaughter," Natasha stood to walk over to Karry.

"Don't you dare touch her!" Harry stood immediately. He pulled the stroller back so it was right beside him.

"I can if I want to I'm her grandmother," Natasha frowned, her hands on her hips.

"You have no right to touch my daughter. I can't wait for this trial to be over in a few days so I never have to see you again." Harry spat, turning the stroller so Karry was facing him.

"I don't have to put up with this," Natasha grabbed her stuff and left, David on her heels.

Harry picked Karry out of the stroller and held her as he sat on the bed beside Karmina. He grabbed her hand and placed Karry's hand in hers.

"I'm going to get some coffee, would you like some?" Taylor stood by the doorway.

"Sure," Harry gave her a small smile. He then turned to look back at Karmina. In a few days the trial would happen to see who got rights to Karmina medical needs. Harry was confident with his case, but he didn't know what the Santos family was bringing to the table. This worried him very much. He was barely hanging by a thread now, if Karmina was gone Harry didn't know how he would hold on. Karry fussed his arms a little. Harry decided to change her diaper before giving her a bottle. He quickly put her back in the stroller as he made her bottle. Her piercing cries louder now. He slowly rocked her back and forth with his foot. He had learned a few things about parenting but hadn't mastered all the tricks yet. He placed the bottle in her mouth and almost instantly she stopped crying.

Harry grinned at his baby girl, and then turned to look at Karmina. He almost dropped the bottle, when he realized she was sitting up and starring at him. A slight crease on her forehead. Harry's heart raced with happiness, he blinked multiple times to make sure he was really seeing her open eyes. He reached out to touched her with his free hand but she recoiled.

"Karmina," he said softly. "Your awake, don't worry I'm not going to hurt you. You're safe now," Harry smiled at her. She continued to stare at him seriously.

"Where am I?" She finally said very quietly.

"In the hospital," Harry picked up Karry to burp her.

"Where are my parents?" She said a little louder now. Did she hear them? Harry thought.

"They'll be back," he answered a bit confused.

"Well, what about Derek? Are you a doctor? You're dressed a little strange for a doctor," she scooted a bit to the other side of the bed. Harry stood, as his jaw dropped.

"Derek? No, it's me Harry," Harry patted Karry's back.

"You're really starting to freak me out, I don't know you." Panic was now staring to spread across her face. "Help!" She yelled.

"Karmina, calm down. You know me!" Harry slowly put Karry in her stroller. Before either of them could speak a team of doctors rushed in and shuffled Harry out of the room. There he stood in the empty hallway, his hands resting on the stroller, a very confused and stunned Harry.
