Save My Love

"You know a guy named Harry?" Sammi asked that day at lunch, picking at some kind of leftovers.

"Yeah, why?"

"He told me to tell you to stop by. Who is he?"

"Some waiter. I have no idea why but his name keep coming up in my conversations. He only knows me because he was our waiter on my date with Niall. It's starting to creep me out."

"Oh. He seemed nice," she shrugged, taking a bite of her food.

"Who seemed nice?" Liam asked, sliding in the seat next to Sammi, kissing her cheek.

"That waiter from the restaurant. But not as nice as you," she assured him, giving him a quick kiss back on the lips.

"Are you two official, then?"

"You could say that," she giggled. I watched as Liam gazed down on her, even when she wasn't looking.

"You two are so cute, it's disgusting," I joked.

Sammi introduced me to her current sweetheart, happy that we were finally meeting. We chatted a bit before the bell rang, and I knew right then that it wouldn't be our last lunch as a trio. Not that I minded, he was actually pretty cool.

I quickly ran over the plan I had devised in my classes since lunch. I needed to tell this Harry guy I wasn't interested in whatever he kept bugging me for. Short and sweet, then I'd be out of there.

My phone buzzed, signaling it was time for me to stop plotting.

"Hello?"

"Hey, it's Niall. What's up?"

"Nothing really. Just leaving school. Why?"

"I was wondering if you wanted to hang out tonight? I miss you."

"I would, but I have to study for some stuff tomorrow."

"I could quiz you over it if you want? Unless you prefer to do it alone."

"Well, no. I guess that'll be cool. You can head over now if you want, I'll be there soon. I gotta make a stop on the way home."

"Alright! See you then."

It was funny, I thought, how the few moments he wasn't on my mind, he managed to do something about it. I hated to admit I liked him as much as I did, bit how could I not? He was a huge mix of gentlemanly, adorable, and charming all at the same time. I'd never come by someone like him before.

I soon pulled up beside the restaurant, going over everything I needed to say before hopping out and shutting the door behind me. Just get in, get it over with, and get out before he grabs your wrist again.

I was barely halfway up the sidewalk when he walked out the doors, as if on cue. I felt nervous, but that didn't stop me from calling out.

"Hey, we need to talk," I said, causing his head to jerk up from looking down.

"Well, fancy seeing you here," he smirked, walking up just a bit too close for my liking.

"I don't know who you are, but stop trying to contact me, it's weird."

"Weird to get a cute girl's attention? I don't think I was too bad," he shrugged, pulling out a cigarette and a lighter from his coat pocket.

"Didn't you notice that I was with a guy the night you first met me?"

"Were you? I wasn't really paying attention to anyone else."

"Stop that!" I said, annoyed with his lines.

"Stop what?"

"Avoiding the point. I want you to quit telling people about me. It's seriously creepy."

"Whatever you say, dear," he grinned, blowing a small puff of smoke in my direction.

"That's disgusting."

"Quite relaxing, actually. Want?" he offered.

"No."

He chuckled at this, dropping the thing to the ground and pinching the tip between his heel and the pavement.

"So, you're not even gonna give me a chance?"

"I'm not interested."

"Don't be so quick to judge, sweetheart," he eyed me, letting his fingers graze my face a bit before turning back and walking through the door. I shivered, hurrying back to my vehicle.

What a creep.

"What's the capital of Cuba?"

"Um... Santiago?"

"Nope. That's Chile."

"I don't know!"

"It's Habana."

I groaned, letting my head fall back on my pillows. Niall had been quizzing me over pretty simply geography, and I just didn't care.

"Don't stress out, you'll get 'em down soon," he smiled tossing the papers down on a nearby table.

"I'm sure I could if I tried. I just don't want to."

"Well that's no way to act about your grades," he lightly scolded, sitting down beside me. Normally I'd roll my eyes at a comment like that, but for once, I actually felt a bit ashamed.

"I know. I'm just so sick of it all. I'd rather be doing anything else."

"I felt the same way. Gotta push through it though. It's worth it," he assured me.

"Oh yeah?" I asked, turning my head towards his. He was closer than I'd assumed, our noses almost touching.

"Oh yeah," he chuckled for a bit. Then he stopped. And stared. And leaned in. Then I did too.

Then his phone rang.

He jumped a little, yanking the device out of his pocket and checking the caller. He sighed, suddenly looking more stressed than I'd ever seen him, and sat up.

"You can take the call if you want, don't worry about it."

"No, it's not that. I actually have to go."

"Oh. Alright. Well see you later, then."

"I'll text you as soon as I can! Promise!" he said, grabbing his coat and hurrying out. I noticed a card of some sort fell out of his pocket, but by the time I picked it up and followed him, he'd already ran out the front door. Curiosity got the best of me, so I took a peek at it.

I felt my eyebrows raise in confusion, my mind not making any sense of the card. It clearly belonged to him, but what on earth did it mean?

I set it down on my nightstand before responding to my mother's call for dinner, notgiving it a second thought.
