“I think you should record an album.” I spoke the words before my brain had a chance to stop me.
“Okay.” She replied with a shrug.
“Okay?” I asked with confusion clear in my features.
“Yeah. Is there a problem?” She asked with an arch of her perfectly groomed brow.
“No, not at all. I just thought that it would take more to convince you.”
“I told you, singing is my passion; my first love. And besides, I felt more like myself these past two hours than I have in the last two years.”
I smiled at thought of being capable of pulling the real Nina out from the shadows of herself.
I continued to smile as I spoke. “When should we start? You name the time and I’m there.”
“How about now?”
“Now?” This girl seriously didn’t make any sense. She refused to sing in the beginning, then she gave in, then she stopped because she said she was tired of singing, and now she wants to record an album? I was getting serious whiplash trying to keep up with her ever changing mood.
“Now’s great. But you don’t have any songs prepared.”
“Yes I do.” She retorted, getting up from her spot on the stool and making her way to her bag. She pulled out a tattered old note book. “Here, my songs.” She said, shaking the book in her hand.
“Okay, get back in the booth. Sing, and then we will come up with music to match the songs.”
She took a deep breath as she got comfortable on the stool.
“Ready?” I asked.
She shook her head yes and I hit the record button.
“Now that I’m thinking sober, don’t you try to get no closer. I’m just gonna get in my car and drive, and drive. Looking in the rearview mirror everything is so much clearer. Watch me wave it all goodbye, goodbye…”
When she finished that song she effortlessly flowed into the next one. “See you calling again, I don’t wanna pick up, no oh. I’ve been laying in bed, probably thinking too much, oh oh…”
After she finished that song she flowed into song after song until she finished.
“And my armor is made of steel, you can’t get in. I’m a warrior. And you can never hurt me again. No oh, yeah yeah. You can never hurt me again.”
I couldn’t stop myself from clapping. “Amazing Nina, you have enough material here to have a full blown album.” I complimented into the microphone.
She hopped down from her perch on the stool and made her way out of the booth to stand in front of me.
“Thank you.” She said, pulling me into a hug. I was a little taken aback my her action, in the six months that I had known her, she never hugged me. I hugged her back, almost afraid to let her go.
“For what?” I asked.
She pulled away slightly to look up at me. “For making me do that.” She whispered.
“I didn’t make you do anything; you did it on your own.” I gave her a reassuring smile.
She nuzzled up against me again and took in a deep breath. I ran my fingers up and down her back, not wanting to let her go.

You don't have any idea how much your feedback means to me. :) Thank you so much. It makes me happy to see that this story will stay with you. I could have been more descriptive, but I thought that it would take away from the rawness of the story. And I also wanted the readers imagination to flow with my own.
It's perfectly fine that you listened to Skyskraper, I', just happy that you listened to music at all, since it is a big part of the story.
