Those Eyes
Chapter Four
The song for this chapter is Breathe Me by Sia.
“Good session mate, we’ll pick up where we left off tomorrow.” The guy in the recording studio said to me.
“Thanks man. Hey, is the booth booked for the rest of the day?”
“Nope, it’s empty. You can stay if you want.”
“Thanks man. I think I will.”
“Cool, just lock the door before you leave.”
“Will do. Thanks man.”
After he left I pulled out my phone and called Nina.
She finally answered just before the voicemail picked up.
“Hello?”
“Hey Nina, it’s Harry.” Stupid! I’m so stupid, of course she knew it was me.
“Yeah?’ She asked, I could hear the slight chuckle in her voice.
“I was uh.. I was wondering if you were busy right now?”
“I’m not, I have the day off.”
“Would you like to hang out?”
“Sure, where?”
“I’ll text you the address.”
“Sounds good.”
Once she hung up I quickly texted her the address.
Forty-five minutes later and I heard her.
“Hello? Harry? Are you here?”
“I’m here.” I said walking to meet her at the front door of the recording studio.
“A recording studio?” She questioned with a confused look on her face.
“I thought you could sing for me again.” I said, pushing my hands into my pockets and shrugging my shoulders.
“That was a onetime thing, Harry.” She said with a sigh.
“Please, I really enjoyed it last time.”
She rolled her eyes at me before answering. “Fine, only because I really like singing.”
I felt a massive smile form across my face. “Sweet, go in there.” I said, pointing to the enclosed recording booth.
She dropped her back and shrugged her jacket off before entering the booth.
“Is there any particular song you’d like to sing?” I asked through the microphone in front of me.
“Breathe Me, by Sia.” She said, shyly before placing the headphones over her ears.
I found the track and set it up to play. The piano started to play softly and then once again Nina’s voice followed perfectly behind it.
“Help, I’ve done it again. I have been here many times before. Hurt myself again today. And the worst part, is there’s no one else to blame.”
Her eyes were closed again, she looked like she was in so much pain with every word she sang.
“Be my friend. Hold me, wrap me up. Unfold me, I am small and needy.”
She continued to pour her heart into the song, the song that she didn’t write herself, but she could have fooled anyone into thinking this was her own piece of work.
“Ouch, I have lost myself again. Lost myself and I am nowhere to be found, yeah I think I might break. I’ve lost myself again and I feel unsafe.”
By the time she sang the word unsafe tears flowed freely down her face. I didn’t bother stopping the music; I could tell that she needed this. She needed to let the tears flow freely. The hauntingly beautiful sound of the music still encased us.
The climax of the song came in and her voice sounded so strong despite the tears. You ever told her that she wasn’t good enough should have been shot. She had the purest voice I’ve ever heard.
She finished out the last line of the song before opening her eyes for the first time since the song started. She looked up at me and I could see a little bit of the hurt behind her eyes that she tried so hard to hide.
She let out a shaky breath before speaking. “Sorry.” She whispered a vast difference from the powerful voice I had just heard moments ago.
“No need to apologize. Is there another song you’d like to sing?”
Two hours later and Nina was tired of singing. I think I would be too if I poured everything I had into each and every song I sang.

You don't have any idea how much your feedback means to me. :) Thank you so much. It makes me happy to see that this story will stay with you. I could have been more descriptive, but I thought that it would take away from the rawness of the story. And I also wanted the readers imagination to flow with my own.
It's perfectly fine that you listened to Skyskraper, I', just happy that you listened to music at all, since it is a big part of the story.
