How It Used to Be
Chapter II
Ajla was jolted awake by the sound of a faint beeping in her sleep. Shit she thought to herself. She wasn’t able to get up; only to realize that Harry was still on top of her. Ajla struggled to push him off of her, but it was no use. So she had to lay there, doing nothing. As Harry’s breathing became more at pace, he fluttered his eyes open and his hot morning breath whispered in her ear, “Good morning beautiful, what do you want to do today?” he asked her as his fingers were intertwined with Ajla’s blonde hair.
“Well babe, I have a brunch with Jasmine today,” she answered as she reached to the side table of their bed to check the time on her phone.
Harry didn’t respond. He stopped playing with Ajla’s hair and got up from the bed, walking in a circle around their room; twiddling his fingers. Then he took a deep breath and sighed. Harry had an angry expression on his face, his eyes dark. He managed to smile as he looked down at her from standing.
“Okay babe. Have fun” He replied in his raspy voice, kissing her hand with wet lips; which sent tingles down her spine.
Ajla grabbed her hand bag and keys and went out the door. She felt the slow, cool wind flowing her hair behind her as she was walking on the sidewalk. Young men came along the path by the time she got into town, their eyes quickly glancing up and down her body as she walked by. Ajla noticed whenever her and Harry walked in public together, he always had his strong grip around her waist tightly, to show Ajla was his.
The door chimed with bells as she walked into the coffee shop. In the far back of the restaurant, Jasmine sat at a table for two, looking down at her watch as every few seconds she flipped her brown locks behind her shoulder, constantly on her phone. Finally she looked up and waved at Ajla, motioning for her to come to their table.
Jasmine smiled as she was helping Ajla with her coat, getting her settled.
They haven’t seen each other for a while, due to the drama they had in the past.
*****FLASHBACK******
The bass of the music was so loud, thumping against the walls of Ajla’s head; she rubbed her forefingers along her temples and went to sit down next to Jasmine at the bar. As Jasmine was laughing with the man sitting next to her, he bellowed, “Aye ya think you can get me and the lady another drink?”. She started laughing then she turned to find Ajla sitting next to her, as Ajla could smell the alcohol coming from her breath, and she made a reeking face.
Jasmine lightly punched Ajla on the side, she was clearly drunk already, saying to her with her words slurring so Ajla barely understood her, “Oh c’mon. Go hook up or something, go fuck in the bathroom, for all I care!” then she started laughing as she leaned her head into the guy’s shoulder she was with.
She tried to remind Jasmine that she and Austin broke up only yesterday, due to her accusing of him sleeping with another girl in the dorm. Ajla rolled her eyes as she was tired of being the third wheel, and went to the bathroom to reapply her makeup. Before she reached for the handle of the bathroom, a guy forcefully pulled her into his chest, and spun Ajla around to face her.
“Hey babe. Remember me?” She felt the hot raspy voice mumble into her hear. Ajla’s knees went weak as she recognized the voice.
She looked up at him, in shock, “Austin?” she squeaked.
