Before You Found Me
Hospital Harry
“He WHAT?!”
“He kissed me on my forehead.”
"He's in love with you!”
“Um, Arela, I've only met him TWICE. I mean, it was so romantic at the time; but now that I look back on it, it seems crazy!”
Arela gave me an 'ARE YOU NUTS?!' look. “Um, it's STILL totally romantic! You have to go out with him.”
“Um, Arela, in case you haven't noticed, I'M STILL IN A HOSPITAL ROOM. Kind of hard to go out for dinner when you can't leave the third floor without a nurse to wheel you around.”
Arela inched closer. “Well, it never hurts to try.” A smile, quick and bright, flashed like lightning across her face.
I drew her into a side hug. “Oh, how I love you.”
A knock on the door. “Can I come in?”
Arela raised her eyebrows at me and turned to the figure in the doorway. “Harry! What a surprise. We were just talking about you.”
“Oh, really? I suppose I walked in on some girly gossip?”
Arela giggled, and I snorted. “Are those jazz hands?” I asked incredulously.
“No, these are girly gossip hands. I thought you girly gossipers would recognize girly gossip hands. What kind of gossiping girlies are you?”
Arela and I giggled. “Um, I'm pretty sure we have no clue what you just said,” I told Harry.
“No clue,” Arela agreed. “But I just remembered I, uhhh, have to go make food! For my mom. Um, yeah, seeyoutomorrowAdira!” Are those even words? I chuckled to myself. And in a flash, Arela was out the door, leaving me alone with the very British and very handsome Harry.
“I told you I'd be back.”
“And you made good on your word.”
Harry stepped up to me, his sneakers making silly squeaking noises on the linoleum. “May I sit?” he said, gesturing to a spot on the bed next to me.
I scooted my butt over, trying to make a little more room for him than Arela had left. “Sure. Make yourself at home.”
“Home sweet hospital.”
“Something like that.” I leaned back a little, my eyes shut, the bright hospital lights playing on my lids. For a moment, the world was so colorful—the reds dancing with purple and blue hues, orange burning in the back of my mind, light spots of yellow and green morphing and transforming into deep navies and midnight hues. It was always a shock to my system when I opened my eyes to look once more and saw a world so stark and bare and white and colorless. Would it be so terrible to be blind so long as I were always surrounded by the colors?
“Off in your own world again, Mystery Girl?”
I turned to Harry, remembering he was there beside me, and smiled. “Hmm, yeah. Sorry, I'm just a little tired.”
“What were you thinking of?”
He looked genuinely curious, his eyebrows making small waves about his forehead. “I was thinking of color, of light—but mostly of color. It's so fantastic that you can close your eyes and there's a world so strikingly vivid and beautiful, so full of movement and change and art. And anytime you wish to be in that world again, all you need is to close your eyes and turn your face to the light...” I trailed off.
“That's beautiful. Quite poetic.”
A slight smile lifted the corner of my lips. “It's how I feel. What I was thinking.” I angled myself closer to Harry. “And what are you thinking?”
“Well, it's no secret, really.” Harry's breath tickled the soft hair on my neck as he whispered in my ear, “I'm thinking how beautiful you are.”
He's so close! I chuckled nervously. “Oh, yes. Bruises and all! I'm told I'm quite a catch.”
Harry looked in my eyes, a question on his face. “Why the sarcasm? You don't agree?”
I looked down, at the wall to the right, across the floor, back at Harry and shrugged. “I suppose I'm average.”
Harry tugged a tuft of hair framing my face and grinned, lighting up the hospital room. “You, love, are anything but average.”
I inhaled and couldn't. Breath. Out. My whole body tensed and tingled. There is a gorgeous man not six inches from your face. Adira...you have no clue what to do. I just sat there for what seemed an eternity but must have only been a few seconds then shuddered, breaking the spell. “Gosh, it's a little chilly in here.” I stood, looking around the room. “Need a blanket?”
Harry gripped my forearm, standing. He paused a second, seeming like he realized he'd acted without thinking, then released me. “I'll get it.”
I sat, breathing finally. Suddenly I was wrapped in warmth. He placed the blanket around me. That's so sweet. Who does that? “If you're not feeling well, I can go...”
“No, wait. I, um-”
My eyes opened wide as I was cut off by a pair of full lips...on mine. “Uh?! Hnnn...” My arms fell to Harry's shoulders, my hands fingering his thick curls as our kiss deepened. Oh, wowwowwowwowwow. The kiss ended all too soon. Breathlessly I whispered, “...Hi.”
Harry chuckled merrily, his thumbs caressing my cheekbones. “Hello.”
Notes
Hey, guys!
I'm really tired, so I haven't proofread, but I'll do it tomorrow! I hope this was a little better, even though I wrote a lot of it before my revamp (and the rest of it while I was dog tired.) Aaaaand, I totally stole the line "home sweet hospital" from the name of a chapter by icedragon456. Her story is Face Down, and it's fantastic! She's also going to be writing a new story called Cat and Mouse, so you should look into that one, too! She's great about being action packed and fast-moving, so GO AND READ IT! :D And I'm crazy tired, so I'm going to bed now. Night!

Hey, guys!
I apologize for being gone so long. I've had crazy school stuff going on, all kinds of weird family crap, and then my computer freaked out on me. I have a new computer now, which is great except for the fact that all the work I had done on future chapters is still on the other computer, and I can't get to it right now. Sooo... Until I can get my original computer fixed, I'm going to start a new story. Not sure exactly what it'll be yet, but I'll be uploading it soon. :)
Have a good night, Lovies!
