Before You Found Me
Mysteries, Mysteries
The teen walked up to the counter, close enough to touch me. I could've reached out and fingered his rich brown curls...if that wouldn't have been weird. "Gosh, those chips look great," he said with the most spectacular British accent. "Could I get some of these chips, please? Uh, I mean fries? Thanks." He heard me try to stifle a chuckle at his correction and turned to smile at me. "Oh, so I'm funny then?" he asked teasing, trying to hold in his grin. A mischievous glint played in his emerald eyes. "I'm hurt, really. You got me—right here!" he said dramatically, gesturing as if I'd stabbed him in the heart.
"Oh, somehow I think you'll survive," I responded, raising my eyebrows. Arela giggled behind me.
"Only just barely!" The stranger's stomach growled. "But maybe not if I don't get some food in me."
"Lorne, get your butt out here with this man's french fries!"
Lorne pushed through the kitchen doors. "What is WITH you girls and my butt today?!"
Naturally, at that Arela and I BURST out laughing. "It's just so irresistible!" Arela called, still giggling.
"And what about my bum?!" the stranger cried.
Arela responded,"How could I tell? You're sitting on it!"
"Well, it is rather Harry."
"Ewwww, thanks!" I was dying laughing. "Like we REALLY needed to know that."
"No, you misunderstood. I'M Harry," the stranger-no-more winked.
"Ah, I see. Well, then, Mister Harry. Nice to make your acquaintance," I held out my hand and raised my eyebrows, holding in my remaining giggles.
He promptly shook it, slipping a phone in my palm with his other hand when he was through. "This," he whispered, coming in close," is where your number goes." I didn't miss the smile Harry couldn't keep from toying with his rosy lips as he looked me in the eye.
Gosh, he was delectable. I looked him up and down for good measure then entered in my digits and handed Harry back the phone. Arela and I finished off the last of the fries as he looked at the screen. "You never entered a name."
"Suppose I'll have to stay a mystery," I teased, getting up from my stool and turning towards the door. "See ya later, Lorne!" I called, then I looked over my shoulder. "See you around, Harry."
"Later, Mystery Girl," I heard him say as I pushed open the doors. A slight smirk tugged at my lips, and, for the first time in a long time, I felt wholly confident and powerful. I sincerely hoped I'd cross paths with my British Biscuit again soon.
Notes
I'm gonna admit, I wasn't totally happy with this chapter, but I haven't been really happy with any of the work I've done (including future chapters.) Does it feel a bit forced to you, too? I know you're never supposed to point out your flaws, but that's what you guys are here for! Anyway, this story is about to take a turn for the DARK. (I know the phrase is turn for the worst, but it's not the worst yet.) What started out as a pretty simple, easy story about some silly girls giggling and flirting is about to become a story of struggle and survival. I'm getting to the points which I first imagined when coming up with the story line, though I will admit little things ARE changing as I actually write it out. I can't wait for you all to hear the rest of it, even if I'm not sure it's my best work; and I sincerely hope you enjoy it (despite my negativity.)
Hope you guys have a fantastic weekend!

Hey, guys!
I apologize for being gone so long. I've had crazy school stuff going on, all kinds of weird family crap, and then my computer freaked out on me. I have a new computer now, which is great except for the fact that all the work I had done on future chapters is still on the other computer, and I can't get to it right now. Sooo... Until I can get my original computer fixed, I'm going to start a new story. Not sure exactly what it'll be yet, but I'll be uploading it soon. :)
Have a good night, Lovies!
