When you Smile
Liam: Phoenix Alana O'Reily
“What I understand out of all of this is why we have never met this Phoenix and it’s been two years.” I let out a sigh, “Seriously mate. When can we meet this American girl who has stolen your heart?” I sighed and stared at Louis dumbfounded.
I didn’t respond, “moving on. How what that date with Abbie, Harold?” He had been talking to this bird for a few weeks now, was it real I wasn’t sure, all I knew was that her dad’s very high in the chain for some record company.
“It was… interesting.” He messed his face up in some weird way. “Ha, yeah when he finally made it.” Harry’s eyes widened as he looked to Louis.
“And that’s suppose to mean… what exactly?” Niall muffled as he shoved a cheeseburger in his mouth. “It means Harold found himself another lady friend. He knocked her eggs and fruit all over the floor!”
Louis’ voice boomed through out the dining area of my apartment. “Oh, please tell more.” Zayn grinned, “I’m intrigued.” Harry was now the color of a tomato,
“I don’t want to talk about it.” He hid his face and the subject was changed. We sat around talking about random shit; each had a beer and enjoyed each other’s company.
It I told you I didn’t love these lads I would be lying to you and myself. How we were brought together was unexpected, but it happened and we have fate to thank for that.
Zayn was in the middle of giving Niall the biggest noogie of his life when a knock came to the door unexpectedly. “Oi, Haz, Lou! One of you go get that for me would you.”
The two boys raced each other to the door, as I looked upon the 4 of them it was like a zoo in here.
I had slipped into the kitchen to put away the dirty dishes from lunch deciding I would wash them later tonight on my down time. “Alright, we haven’t decided on our plans for tonight. Anyone?” I called out as I stepped into the living room with a dish towel in my hand.
It was then I was caught off guard by a beautiful lady with vibrant red hair, “Phee? What are you doing here?” The boys had already stopped what they were doing to watch the scene before them unravel.
“OI! So this is the bird you can’t stop running your mouth about, get it mate!” I shot a glare in the direction of the voice and took her hand. “Come now, we’ll go somewhere more private, yeah?”
She nodded her head as I let go of her hand and she followed behind. “Liam, I’m sorry about earlier.” We had reached the destination of my kitchen. I gave a half smile,
“It’s quite alright, no need to apologise.” I watched as she set her bag on the counter and her painted pink lips fall. “No it’s not. I talked to Lorelei, declining the spread. She pretty much called me an idiot and that you didn’t have to do much convincing.”
I watched her let out a chuckle, her teal heels clicked against the tile as she continued forward. She took my hands. “You have been nothing but amazing to me since I first started here two years ago.
And you’re right, it’s not fair that I have been giving you mixed signals and it’s been bugging me all first half of my day.” She looked down at our hands and then back up to me.
“I’m ready to give you one signal like you deserve.” I raised my eyebrows scared, but gave a small smile. “Okay?”
“Liam, I want to try us out. I want there to be a you and me.” My small smile became a smirk, “Well I don’t know. After you rejected me I kind of found someone else…” Her face fell and she began to turn away but I grabbed her by the waist and then took her face into my hands.
“I’m kidding,” She shook her head and looked down at her feet. “I deserved that.” Phee let out a little mumble, “Then I guess there’s only one thing left.” She looked up at me, “Phoenix Alana O’Reily. Will you do me the honor of being my girlfriend?”
I watched her frown turn upside down and her lips met mine. “Well, I’m going to take that as a yes.” I grinned and cheers came from around the corner.
Lou was the first one to pop in, “Welcome to the family deary. My name is Louis Tomlinson.” He stuck out his hand and she took it, “it’s my pleasure.”
“That thing over there is named Zayn, blondie is Niall, Curly top is Harry, and of course you know Liam.”
“It really is a pleasure meeting all of you finally, but my break is now over.” She turned to me, “I’m having dinner tonight with the girls but if your offer stands for tomorrow we can do that?”
I nodded my head and walked her to the door. “Of course it does. Bye baby.” I watched as her eyes lit up, “I like the sound of that.” I kissed the top of her head and sent her on her way.
The patter of the lads’ feet came in ear shot, let the teasing and kissy noises begin
