Adding Characters & "Characters Needed"
Adding Characters
To add characters to your story, go to MY STORIES (again not my stories, but the button). Next to chapters is a button that reads CHARACTERS; click that button. Then, click ADD CHARACTER. Fill out all of the required fields and click submit.
I don't recommend using this if you aren't posting pictures and short descriptions of the characters. I find it quite annoying when he character list is just names. Also, can you all stop using tumblr girls or famous people/models as your characters. It lowers self-esteem, so instead of adding pictures and short descriptions, try to describe them in the story.
Don't use "orbs" for eyes. Don't use "locks" or "mops" for hair. I know that you can all be more descriptive than that.
"Characters Needed"
Can people just stop doing these fucking things? You want characters? Use your fucking imagination! If you aren't creative enough to come up with your own characters, you shouldn't be writing a story. This goes to the people who want to be these characters, too. Are you that fucking desperate or people to write a shitty story in your name? Instead of asking people to be your characters, create your own. Instead of asking people to write a story with you in it, write yourself. To get you started, I'll tell you how I usually create my characters.
For names, I usually use a name that means something to me. My first main character had my kindergarten best friend's name; another one of my characters has the name of my character in my 6th grade play (second lead role, thank you very much. I would've been first, but apparently I'm not innocent enough... I was a rebel character). If you can't think of any names you want to use, do what I do for side characters: use the Random Name Generator. [Link]
Characteristics, what traits you give your character, I usually like to base off of myself. This includes: hair, eye color, personality... You can make these based off of you, or make them the complete opposite. Even better? Make up whatever you want for them. No one is telling you how to make your characters, so why should you have people tell you what the characteristics are.
Characters are whatever you want to make of them. Don't be basic. Create a style for them. It's not just clothing; it's the way you make your character talk and act. Do whatever the hell you want with your characters. Be original. Don't ask people if they want to be in your story.
Revision Note (6/17/14): I wrote this when I was slightly younger and naive, so excuse the first paragraph a little. If you do want to have other people as characters in your story, please use the forums section of this website instead of making "stories" because it is still rather annoying to see all of the stories page filled with "Characters Needed" stories.
