Face Down
Who Let the Dogs Out?
It only took about ten seconds after Harry disappeared out the back door before I followed suit. You know what they say, Aspen—Curiosity killed the cat; Satisfaction brought it back. ...Doesn't really work the same way for people, does it? I sighed. Well, I'd been hit and thrown around and knocked out before. I figured I could pretty much handle whatever could be out there. I crept through the room and around the house, and then I saw it. The creature that caused me a freakin' heart attack...
…Was the most adorable freakin' dog I'd seen in my entire life.
“You're such a good boy. Such a good boy! You're just a hungry lad, yes you are.” Harry was bent over the curly-haired pup, giving him a good rub down. Really, the dog looked a lot like Harry. Rich brown, curly fluff and deep green eyes.
I sauntered up. “Who's your twin?”
“This little monster,” Harry said, still messing with the dog, “is the source of our mysterious loud noise. Must be a hungry little lad. Turned over the garbage bin.”
I crouched down to get level with the dog. “Well, you're just a harmless little thing, aren't ya?” I let him sniff my hand so he wouldn't freak out and attack me when I pet him, and then I gave the little thing some love, too. “He doesn't have a tag, Harry.”
“Yeah, I noticed, too. Maybe the lad was abandoned.”
I looked in the dog's eyes and played with his fluffy ears. “Well, that would be a shame, now wouldn't it?” I looked back up at Harry. “We can drive around tomorrow, see if there are any lost dog fliers. And maybe he has a chip in him.”
“Maybe.”
“But right now you're all mine! Oh, yeah. Oh, yeaaah.”
“You might love that mutt more than you love me!” Harry laughed.
“Oh, never,” I said, still playing with the doggy's ears. “Now, what are we gonna call you?”
Harry and I stilled, thoughtful.”Well, he did scare the bloody hell out of us. Why not call the lad Panic?”
I burst out laughing. “That's just perfect! So appropriate.” I got up and started clapping. “Come on, Panic! Time to go inside! C'mon! C'mon, let's go inside! Good boy.” Harry came and took my hand as we led our new companion into the house and set him up for the day. Food: leftover macaroni wouldn't hurt. Water: check! Bed: some towels in the bathroom.
“Well, now that it's nearly daylight, wanna try and catch some shuteye?”
“I was already on my way,” I smiled sleepily, stretching up to my tiptoes to press my lips to his. “See you in a couple hours.”
“See you soon, love.”
And with that, I headed back to the bedroom to get some much-needed sleep. CinderAspen is ready for some beauty rest. I'm not even sure my head hit the pillow before I was out.

Notes
IT WAS A DOGGY!!! No Aaron or Meleena! (Though I figure y'all are probably dying for some kind of cool action by now. I'll make the next chapter more exciting.) I want to hear where you think the story should go. Icedragon456 and I already have an idea of what we want to happen, but what is the point of having a comments section if there is no input? This story is for you! Can't promise we'll use every idea, but I'm curious what your creative minds can come up with. Let us know!Rate, comment, subscribe--all that jazz. And don't forget to have a wonderful week, Lovies! As icedragon456 would say, LOVEYA!
