The Games (DISCONTINUED)
Chapter 5
Rachel's POV:
I woke up sighing. Today was training where they would see what we excel at. I pushed myself out of bed and got dressed into our training outfits that Lucy made us wear so we wouldn't get hurt. I ran downstairs because I had slept in and was late for breakfast. I sat down in between Cynthia Tailor from District 4 and Rose Murphy from District 3.
We chatted lightly about the games and training but they were no fun compared to Jana, Sydney, Victoria and Alana. Last night after we were done gossiping we raided Lucy's closet and put a tarantula in there. We found it in Pamela Rock from District 5's room. Lucy had been really rude to us especially Victoria and I. The girls wanted to help us get back at her. They had taken a video this morning of her screaming when I was sleeping and I played it on Jana's phone where she left it for me to see with a note that said 'Good morning Sleepyhead! Here's the video of Lucy screaming. Hope you laugh. XX The girls' I had defiantly laughed.
"Rachel! It's time to go the training centre!" I looked up to see Victoria slapping my arm.
She blushed and told me to stop daydreaming. We had been best friends since forever. I was older than her by 9 months but that didn't stop us from being besties. We had stayed together until we moved apart to live in different Districts. We still texted but we didn't see each other much anymore. I was so happy to have her here with me and I know she is happy that I'm here as well.
I ran after her realizing that Lucy was glaring at me.
'Stuck in her daydream. Been this way since eighteen. But lately her face seems. Slowly sinking wasting." I hummed. Victoria and I had gotten great singing voices in the past couple years. I know that Victoria wanted to become a singer and/or author when she was older. I hadn't figured out what I was going to be yet, all I knew was that I'd marry Harry and I'd wing it from there. I walked to the Jeep where Victoria and the rest of the main girls were waiting for me.
"What took you so long girlfriend!?" Jana screamed and Victoria, Sydney and I cracked up.
"Was it that damn boy Harry again? Ya know you shouldn't be seeing him! He's a bad bad boy!" Jana continued on imitating my dad. It was spot on. I was chuckling until we got there.

I ran straight to the wrestling rink and got game on. I was facing a girl named Julia Sanders from District 1. She was easy to beat, I could flip her over with one finger.
She left and in came Diana Peterson a little bit of a challenge but I beat her anyways. I called the next and last person up, Jessie Baggata. She was from my District and was one tough chica. I was up for a challenge. I started wrestling her and I was about to lose when I sprang up with a burst of energy and knocked her down and won barely. We started laughing and she knocked me down when I least expected it and she yelled out to everyone within 5 miles "VICTORY!!!". I sighed and got up.
I walked over to the knives throwing station and started to throw while chatting with Jana. She had been to poison-identifying before. We started talking about strategies for the games and at the same time came up with being alliances with the other girls! We laughed and started aiming again. I was having so much fun that I didn't even notice Lucy glaring daggers into my back as I chatted and laughed.
Sydney POV:
I was at the fishing station waiting for my fish onto my bait. It was harder than I expected but I was really good at it. I finished up a while later and walked over to Alana who was in the disguise section learning how to make someone look like a tree trunk. I poked her from behind and she spun around blushing slightly.
"Hi Alana. How's the art going?" I asked.
"It's not art Sydney. It could save your life someday. Probably in the Games. I assume you haven't heard about the plan that Jana and Rachel came up with? They wanted the 5 of us to work together in the games. Are you in?" Alana smiled.
"Okay. So what else are you practising?" I asked politely.
"Well I was going to go over to the knots station in 20 minutes but I think I'm done here. Bye!" She walked off smiling at me.
I was bored so I decided to go over to the weight lifting section where I saw Victoria. She was lifting 50 pound ones. I whistled and walked over to her. She grinned and said hi. I started picking up some 5 pound weights and my body sagged. Victoria laughed and I chuckled along.
She was amazing at weights whereas I couldn't even pick up 5 pounds. I'm tiny, only 80 pounds and 5ft4. People call me elf girl sometimes but I shrugged it off. She was putting down her weights and said goodbye and that she was going over to the axes station. I said bye and left the weight lifting station because clearly it was not for me. I ran over to the hand to hand combat station where I faced a couple girls and won. I was having so much fun in the centre. The 5 of us had been to all the stations and found our top 4 best ones.
Alana: Knots, Camouflage, Tridents and Slingshots.
Jana: Knife Throwing, Swords, Edible Plants and Setting Snares
Rachel: Wrestling, Fire Making, Archery and Spears
Sydney: Edible Insects, Ropes, Shelters and Fishing
Victoria: Hammock Making, Axes, Hand to Hand Combat and Weight Lifting.

Bystander POV:
It was the day of the evaluation. They had done their first choices, Rachel wrestling, Alana camouflage, Jana knife throwing, Sydney fishing and Victoria hand to hand combat. We had done our bests and were waiting on our evaluation on the screen. We had been waiting and the screen finally became lit up. Rachel and Sydney squealed and Victoria squeezed her hands together. The score was out of 20.
"First Up Alana Huntolly from District 4 with a score of 16 out of 20." Alana smiled and cheered.
"Next Up Rachel Snow from District 2 with a score of 20 out of 20." Rachel screamed and grinned.
"Next Is Victoria Snow from District 1 with a score of 20 out of 20." Victoria started jumping around crying with excitement.
"Next is Jana Woreton from District 3 with a score of 19 out of 20." Jana whooped and clapped her hands.
"Last but not least Sydney Zallian with a score of 17 out of 20." Sydney smiled and jumped around.
The girls were all happy with their scores. This was the end of the yet another day in the Capitol...
