Forever and Always

“We’re going on a picnic today with Pop-Pop and Nana. Are you excited?” I asked the kids as I put a plate in front of Kayla and Ethan. Haleigh is still asleep and Colton is sitting in his high chair with a bowl of cheerios in front of him. Today the twins turn 8 months old.

“Will Aunt Gem be their?” Kayla asked me.

“Nope, just us. Before we go I have to get me a new phone. You guys finish eating while I go wake Haleigh up.” I said. I walked up the stairs and into the twins’ nursery to find Haleigh sitting up and playing with her feet giggling to herself.

“Well aren’t you a happy baby today.” I said picking her up and then cringing at the smell. For a small little girl she makes very large smells. I walked over to the changing table and changed her diaper and then carried her over to the closet with me.

“What are you going to wear today?” I asked as I looked through all her clothes. I finally decided on a dress. I sat down on the ground with her and got her dressed then carried her downstairs to the others. I sat her in her highchair.

“Ethan, mommy put your clothes on you bed. Can you bring them downstairs please?” I asked him as I wiped his mouth and hands. I helped him out of his booster seat and then we ran up the stairs.

“When you’re done go change into the dress that I put on your bed please?” I asked turning to look at Kayla.

“You got it dude.” She said. I rolled my eyes. She has been watching a lot of “Full House” re-runs. I took Colton out of his high chair and carried him into the nursery while the girls were still eating. I had to change his diaper again and then I got him dressed and walked downstairs. When I got into the living room I found Ethan trying to put his shirt on and I began to laugh.

“Need some help there bud?” I asked as I put Colton into his walker. I walked over to Ethan and pulled his shirt down and began to tickle him. He tried to squirm out of my grasp, but I held onto him.

“No mommy.” He said in between giggles. I laughed and stopped then helped him get his pants on. As I was about to put his shoes on Kayla walked past me to go up the stairs. Once his shoes were on I walked into the kitchen to get Haleigh.

“Is your tummy full now baby girl?” I asked her carrying her into the living room where the boys were. She gave me a gurgle as I sat her on the blanket that is laid out for the twins. I took Colton out of his walker and set him on the blanket next to Haleigh. I turned on the TV and Calliou was on Sprout so I left it there for the kids to watch. I walked into the kitchen and put the dishes in the dish washer and started it. When I got back in the living room Ethan was laying on the couch sucking his thumb.

“Tired bud?” I asked picking him and then putting him back on my lap as I sat back down. He cuddled into me. We’re only waiting for Kayla. Five minutes later she walked down the stairs completely dressed.

“Ok bug. Let me do your hair.” I said placing Ethan beside me, but he still cuddled into my side. Kayla sat on the ground in front of me as I did her hair. Once I was finished I turned off the TV. I picked the diaper bag up that has everything I will need in it and handed it to Kayla and then I picked the twins up.

“Ok older kiddios. Time to go.” I said leading them to the door. I let them go out the house before them and then I followed them. I opened the doors and let the climb in before I put the twins in. Once I secured the twins in their car seats I ran back to the house and closed the door. I ran back to the car and got in and buckled up.

“Let’s go get mommy a new phone.” I said taking a sip from my cup that I put in the diaper bag earlier. I backed out the driveway and began to drive to the nearest phone store. When I go there I put the twins in their stroller and then helped Ethan out.

“How may I help you today? My name is Chase by the way.” An employee said walking up to me once we were inside. Ethan hid behind my leg and Kayla just stood next to me twirling in her dress.

“I need a new phone asap.” I said smiling at him.

“I can help you with that. What kind of phone are you looking for?” He asked me.

“An Iphone 6.” I said. Harry just upgraded his phone and even though we are on separate plans it is time for my upgrade.

“Ok. Well lets walk over here.” Chase said leading me over to a row of phones. I pushed the stroller and Ethan and Kayla followed me.

“So there is gold, silver, and black. Which would you like?” He asked me. I knew Harry has the gold one so I picked Silver. While he went to actually get the phone for me I took the kids to go help me pick out phone cases. They picked out a ton!

“Here you go m’am. If you would please follow me.” Chase said. I paid for everything and then got my number, contacts, and pictures moved to this phone. When I got all the kids in the car and the windows rolled down I sent Harry a text telling him that I now have a new cell phone and then I called Anne as I was driving.

“Hello?” Anne said answering the phone.

“Hey mom. We’re on our way to the park now.” I said keeping my eyes on the road.

“Ok dear. Robin and I are leaving now. See you then.” She said. I was fortunately was at a red light so I took my phone away from my ear and pressed end. I threw it into the diaper bag and began to drive again. It was a 30 minute drive to the park and when we got there Robin and Anne were already there since they live closer.

“Nana!!!!!” Ethan yelled out the window as soon as he saw Anne. I parked the car and Anne walked over with Robin behind her. She got Ethan out and Robin got Kayla out. I got the twins out and put them in the stroller.

“How are you feeling today?” Anne asked as we walked to the open field.

“I’m okay, and you?” I asked moving my bangs out of my eyes. Before she could reply my phone began to ring. I reached into the diaper bag and took it out.

“Hello?” I asked as we continued to walk.

“Hey babe. Glad you finally got your phone.” I heard Harry say on the other end of the phone. I smiled at the sound of his voice.

“Me too. What are you guys doing today?” I asked him as we approached the perfect spot. Robin laid down the blanket with Kayla’s help.

“We have a free day today. What are you and the kiddies doing?” Harry asked as I handed Robin Colton.

“Picnic with your mom and Robin.” I said as I sat down and placed Haleigh in my lap. She grabbed onto one of my fingers and brought it into her mouth.

“Tell them I say hi.” Harry said.

“Your lovely son says hello.” I said holding my phone away from my mouth.

“Hello Harry.” Anne shouted. Ethan ran over to me and took my phone out of my hand.

“Daddy?” He asked looking at it. I held it up to his ear for him and I could tell when Harry replied to him because his smile brightened.

“Haywe with mommy.” I heard Ethan say, “Wuv you too.” He finished before handing the phone back to me.

“I’ll leave you guys to your picnic. I think the guys want to go get something to eat anyways. I love you to the moon.” He said.

“And back.” I replied making him laugh.
