Chapter 38
Harry’s POV:
Sitting through school made he want to put daggers through my eyes. I could feel my blood boiling. I wanted to get this over with, but I had to wait the whole week. The whole week of lying to Gabby, the whole week looking at a dead man walking. I couldn’t take it.
“Dude.” Liam was snapping his fingers in front of my face.
I swatted him away, “Cut the shit, Liam. That’s so annoying.”
He chuckled a little, “You have to focus on something else.”
“Easier said then done.”
“I know, but it will be over soon.”
He was right, everything could be over soon. My life could be taken away from me from the minute I kill Quinton. I could be arrested, I could die in a gang fight. It would be worth it, if I could kill Quinton. I would make Gabby feel safe forever.
“Harry. Seriously. Stop thinking about it.” Louis was sitting next to me.
“Boys.” My history teacher called at us, “Please, stop talking.”
“Sorry.” I called out.
Niall looked at me funny. “You don’t usually let teachers tell us what we can and cant do.”
“Today is different.” I looked down at my notebook.
“It doesn’t have to be.” Zayn pointed out.
“I don’t need one of your dumb inspirational quotes today.” I shot him a dirty look.
He looked to the front of the room. I felt bad.
“Don’t be a dick, Harry.” Liam warned me.
“Sorry, Zayn. I’m just on edge.”
“We all are.” Zayn called back at me.
Fair enough, I wasn’t the only one who was risking everything. My best friends were too, I was losing that thought. I only think about myself all the time. Gabby makes me want to be a better person. She makes me want to be someone knew. I want to leave this life behind. Maybe I could. I wish I could. I just cant.
Gabby’s POV:
The bell rang and I got out of my seat.
“Where’s your next class?” I asked Josh.
He shrugged, “Don’t know. I have math.”
He handed me his schedule D203. I knew where the was, it was going there now too.
“I have this class next too.” I smiled at him. “We could go together.”
“Great.” He took his schedule back and stuffed it into one of his folders.
“Do you think Harry would mind us being together?” He asked as we walked through the hallway.
I rolled my eyes, “I don’t care what Harry thinks.”
“Oh…” Josh got quiet. “I thought you two were like together. He was all over you at the restaurant…”
“Yeah, I mean I thought we were something, but I don’t know what to think anymore actually.” This morning came back into my thoughts. He was so cold. It was like he did a complete 180 from where he was a couple of days ago.
“What do you mean?” Josh pulled me out of my own thoughts.
“I mean we were something, we have- well I guess had something. I don’t know.”
“What don’t you know? If you like him, show him.” Josh smiled at me.
“Why cant I just tell him?” I laughed, even though nothing was funny.
“Because, showing and telling are two different things.” He pointed out. “You can say you love someone, but they wont believe you unless you show them.”
I smiled, “You’re right.”
He threw his arm around my shoulder, “Of course I am.”
I could feel my face getting red, I had to face my head to the ground. I couldn’t let Josh see me like this, so embarrassed, so vulnerable. I could feel eyes on us. I just wish that set of eyes didn’t belong to Harry.
