Harry POV
Harry was pacing around the house. It was Friday, and it was almost noon, and yet there was no sign of Rose. He had the paperwork ready, and he had the contract that Rose had sent to his lawyer. So that was a positive sign-she had taken her time to put the contract together. But there was no contact, no calls, nothing. Was she coming?
If she didn’t, he’d sue for breach of contract, it wasn’t because of the money, he reasoned. It was the principle of it. People can’t promise things and then renege. We, Lilli anyway. Rose didn’t promise anything. He chuckled to himself.He checked his watch again. Their appointment was at 2:00. They’d need to leave his home by 1:40 to ensure that they made it there in time.Harry’s thought was interrupted by the doorbell. Harry was surprised by the relief he felt. He headed for the door. Pulling it open, he did a double take. Rose was standing there, looking completely different from the last time we met.She was dressed in a white-colored dress, with a simple tailored jacket. Her wavy hair was tamed, swept up into an elegant chignon. She wore one simple pearl and with simple pearl earrings and carried a coloured purse over one shoulder with a matching three inches heels that made her legs stretched to eternity, that shape and height of them added to Rose elegant appearance. She looked like a society woman, a lawyer, and a fashion model, all rolled into the same woman. And while he felt a wave of heat roll over him as he took in her appearance, he quickly hid his reaction, and just stepped back to let her in.



Mel POV
Mel was having a similar moment. Harry was dressed in a black suit, with a white-colored shirt and a black and white striped tie. It was a normal business suit, but his appearance was giving her heart palpitation. Good Lord, she thought, this man was sexy. Not one curly hair out of place. Mel have tried to dress more presentable for harry’s sake. But harry looked like a model from Calvin Klein men’s wear catalog. He was gorgeous. Still, Mel noted that there was no warmth in his eyes as he pulled the door wider and stood back to let her by. So she took a deep breath, and reminded her that this was a business transaction, and nothing more.
“You came.” The relief in Harry’s voice was especially surprising; given the cool way he’d looked at her when he opened the door for her.
“Of course. You really gave me no choice,” she said quietly. He smiled slightly. “True. You look lovely Rose.” She looked at him with some suspicion. Why was he being nice? “Thanks,” she finally said. “Can we get this over with please? I took a long lunch, but I’ll need to get back to work as soon as we’re done.”
He nodded. “Of course, did you have a chance to look everything over?”
“Yes. I signed everything this morning and you?”
“My lawyer gave me his approval. So we countersign everything and take the forms with us. He’ll take a quick look, make copies, and we’ll be set.”
It took less than fifteen minutes for them to deal with their paperworks, and for Mel to sign the marriage license.She joined him in his car on the ride over to the office of his lawyer, where a justice of peace would be waiting. She had expected that harry would use a driver, but she realised that this was exactly what he had told her it would be-a quiet marriage between two people. He wasn’t yet ready to announce it to the world. He helped her into the passenger seat, then moved over to the driver’s seat and got next to her.
He turned to her briefly. “Thanks you for doing this, Rose. I know it is not what you would have chosen, and I appreciate that you are honouring your sister’s commitment.’
She looked over at him, her eyes boring into his, her expression serious. “I know you do, harry. And you’re welcome,” she added with a slight smile. He looked at her for a moment, and then nodded. Starting his car, he focused on the road.
