Major Event
Mel POV
Two weeks after the last event party, and everyone was home for the major event at Harry’s house. Aria had been staying with Gran and Lilli lately since Harry and Mel were trying to figure out their relationship.
As Mel prepared for entertaining the Styles’ family she realised that she hadn’t yet invited her family over to Harry’s house and it was something that she needed to address.And in the meantime, she carefully looked through her recipe collection for food she felt sure that Claire would like. She spent more of her time preparing the advance food so that she would be able to spend more time with the guests then in the kitchen.As the night rolled around, Mel only had a few things left to do, so she was looking forward to a glass of wine, and some good conversation with Harry’s family and friends.
Harry had spent most of the day in his study, working on a business issue that had kept him tied up for most of the week. Mel let him be and took Aria and Max for a walk to the park. When she came back Lucy had set the dining room and it was simple, but lovely.At 6:00, Mel heard Harry leave his study and head to his room to get ready for the evening. And she was grateful that Lucy was there to help her with Aria, and Mel realised that she needed to get ready too. After a quick shower, she dressed carefully in a brown simple length knee dress. She was looking for casual but elegant as well. Heading back down the stairs, Aria was in the lounge room playing with Max, and that would keep her from distributing Mel while she is trying to get every ready for the evening. She walked in to the kitchen where Lucy was assembling the appetisers, Mel joined in to help with the others. Everything was ready and all she needed was a decent wine to go with the meal, but she would leave that job for Harry to do.
Harry appeared in the kitchen doorway, and Mel nearly dropped the plate of food she had on her hand. He was dressed in a pair of dark jeans that fitted her perfectly, and a black sweater. He looked amazing, sexy, and gorgeous. Mel forgot to close her mouth as she stared at her husband.
Harry was staring too; Mel was normally a very pretty woman. When she was dresses in casual clothes, she was gorgeous and the brown really suit her, oh hell, it didn’t just suit her, it was like the colour was made for her because it highlights her dark hair and creamy complexion, he thought. If his aunty wasn’t due in any second from now or that Aria wasn’t in the next room, he had no doubt that he would be hard-pressed to keep his hands off her.
“Wow,” Mel breathed at last. “You look fantastic.”
“I was about to say the same to you,” Harry said quietly. “You should wear this colour more often.”
“Thank you. I hope that your aunty won’t mind.”
“Nah, she would be fine,” Harry shrugged, just as the doorbell chimed.
“I’ll get the door,” Mel offered, wiping her hands on the kitchen towel and heading for the foyer, with Aria and Max at her heels.
Claire was well-dressed as usual and she accepted Mel’s compliment. As she turned, she saw Claire eyeing Max and Aria who were staring back at her.
“Mummy, who is she?” asked Aria.
“Aria, please say hello to daddy’s aunty.”
“Hello, aunty,” replied as walked away with Max and her trail.
“Well what wrong with her, and what that walking besides her?”
“Well, I’m trying to figure that out myself, but she wouldn’t talk. And that her dog,” replied Mel. As they moved from the foyer to the lounge room, Claire commented, “The house looks different.”
“Yeah I added more colours to it,” Mel said. “Harry didn’t even notice.”
“I noticed,” came a deep voice behind her. “But I like it, so I didn’t complain.”
Mel grinned. “Well, I’m glad you like it.”
“Aunty Claire, can I offer you some wine?”
“Sound delightful,” Claire said, still looking around her with pleasure.
Harry turned to Mel. “I’ll go down to the cellar and choose a bottle. So Aria is still upset, huh?”
“Yeah she is, and it driving me crazy.”
“Yeah,” he said, but too late Mel had already seen the sigh of hurt on his face before leaving. Mel was back to the lounge as walked with Claire out in the yard, where she and Lucy had spent hours decorating.
“Mel, yeah Claire,” she said as the doorbell ring.
“I have a surprise for you but I would let you see it. So and answered the door.”
Mel was sure enough that, that was Gwen and her date. She opened the door and Gwen was standing on the stoop with her date standing next to her, but Mel couldn’t name the other two faces.
“Mel, I’d like you to meet Hayden, and Hayden this is Mel, my sister in-law and these are....” but Gwen was interrupted by Harry who walked toward the lounge room.
Harry POV
Harry was making his way to the lounge room to check up on Aria, but he was surprised when he was his mum and Robin with Gwen and with no doubt her date.Rose reaction to his parents made him realised that he had never introduced Rose to his mum or Robin.
“Mum, Robin, what a surprise, we weren’t expecting you both.”
“Well we were travelling so we decided to visit you,” said Robin as he pushed Harry into a hug.
“Well it nice to see you too, darling,” replied his mum, who pulled his into a hug and gave his a kiss. Even as an adult now his mum kisses was always a reassurance that he had his family love and he wasn’t as cold as he portrayed himself to be. He walked over to Rose side and held her by her waist line.
“Mum, Robin, this is Rose my wife,” he said. His mum walked over to Rose and pulled her into a hug with tears dripping down her eyes.
“OH, how happy I’m to see you finally,” she whispered to Rose, as Rose nodded her head. Robin walked over and pulled Rose into another hug.
“It nice to finally meet with you, daughter-in-law, Rose,” he said.
“Ok, everyone enough hugging my wife,” as he walked over toward Rose, who hide her tearing eyes into his shirt. Once Rose decided that she was fine, she lifted her and looked in to his eyes before she gave him a slight smile.
“Well, sorry that I didn’t recognised you both, But I’m happy that you are all here now. Okay I’m going to check on dinner, and like I said I’m happy that you all came here,” said Rose, as she turned to leave, but Harry held on to her hands as he linked them together. Aria walked into the lounge room with Aunty Claire who was laughing at something that Max did.
“So, Mel did you like your surprise?” asked Claire.
“Sure did and thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
“Aria,” said Rose as she kneeled down toward Ari’s level.
“Yes, mummy.”
“I want you to say hello to daddy family, okay.”
“Okay,” she said with a smiled. For the first time Harry felt happy as his family accepted Aria as his child with no questions asked.
Harry quickly walked out of the room to check the door; he opened the door and came face to face with his five best mates and their girlfriends.
“We heard that there was a party, so we decided to make our appearances,” said Louis with a smile.
