Four Years Married

What Do You Want To Do Today

We walked in a line up to the front of the school. It was a long, one story, brick building. The name in white painted metal lettering on the side. Several windows letting you see the small classroom within. Small circular tables sat in around with matching small wooden chairs. You could see stacks of crayon boxes in the middle. Harry must have noticed this as well as he had already scooped her up in his arms to give her the same view we had.

"You see that?" He pointed. "That's your class room."

"Will I get to sit where ever I want?"

"I'm not sure you're going to have to wait until class starts."

There were some kids out on the playground playing on the swings and climbing on the slides, but most stood with their parents.

A woman walked out, she was young, very young, must have been straight out of college. She called out to the surrounding people.

"Hello! I'm Ms. Chad, your children's teacher for the year. Now, it's not normally like this, class would usually start by now, but since it's the first day I thought I'd invite you all in, parents and children to the room so you all can see what's going on." She gave us a broad smile before telling us to follow her inside.

The room was bigger on the inside. A wrack for the kids' ruck sacks and coats. She told us of each of the places. There was an area for play and some computers for some new online program to help the kids read. And crayons, so many crayons.

I paid close attention to how Hazel reacted to it all. She seemed more then thrilled. I hope she liked school, so that she would work hard. I wanted her to be smart, she was already reading so I had high hopes for her. I also wanted her to have friends. I imagined her playing with the other kids at the play kitchen off in the corner. Or with the blocks with someone building something.

After the kids were given their seats, Hazel had been placed at a table with a small blonde girl and two dark haired boys.

"Everyday we'll sit and I'll read them a story, and then we'll start learning the alphabet." Ms. Chad told the room. But still my eyes were on Hazel. I was proud she already knew the alphabet. "Then they would have play time and then they'll start learning number things." She continued to tell us about a normal day in the preschool class.

The whole time we stood with the other parents, I heard whispers. And every time I look towards the noise, the people would stop talking instantly and look away. I came to the conclusion they weren't talking about me necessarily, though it felt like it, they were talking about Harry. Contrary to what everyone thought One Direction were still going strong. Still doing albums and touring. The commotion about them had kind of settled, but they still contained a hefty fan base. People that grew up along side them still thought they were great. They parents in the room some older, some younger, obviously knew who he was. And it obviously was taking a load of attention off Ms. Chad who still was talking.

Harry wasn't phased by it. He had lived around people calling his name for so much of his life that now, unless you were talking to him directly he wouldn't turn his head to follow his name. He told me once that it was because it could drive you mad if you paid attention to everyone.
We were dismissed ten minutes later so that the kids could get to know each other without the pressure of their parents being in the room. Or at least that's what Ms. Chad said. Harry now had Teddy's carriage in one hand and in mine in his other. I glanced back through the window at Hazel. But I didn't get a chance to look long as I was pulled under Harry's arm and back to the car.

Teddy stayed awake and silent for the whole morning. Though he liked to stay awake at night, he stayed unfussy during the day, which made no sense to anyone i told. But I wasn't going to complain.

"You ate my muffin." I told Harry as we passed yet another restaurant.

"I'm sorry I didn't think you were going to ate it."

"I would have, but you swiped it too quick."

"Would you like me to stop?" I smiled broadly at him.

"Yes please! That sandwich shop please, near the house?"

"Course my dear."

Harry tapped on the steering wheel while I looked back at Teddy, his smile was also wide. He had a toy in his mouth that he was drooling over carelessly.

"I can't believe she at school."

"I know, but she'll be home soon enough. And it's only a few hours a day." I responded to each of his comforting statements in my head. "And it's not like we can withhold her from learning, one she's really excited to go to school and two it's illegal. I laughed.

"We can't be felons." I continued to laugh. "And thanks. You always know what to say." He smiled back st me and took my hand holding it tight. We got my sandwich and he drove Ted and I back to the house.

"I'll be home to pick you and Ted up so we can go get Hazel in a few hours." He leaned out, and I leaned forward. He kissed me.

"If you're still busy in the studio then I can get her."

"No, I'll be there to get her. I really want to hear about her day and stuff." I kissed him again.

"All right, have a good day, let Zayn and Perrie know I can watch Lily if they need tomorrow."
He nodded.

"I love you, have a good day, and if you get too sad play with Teddy. Or you can call Mum." I
nodded.

"I love you too, and don't be to upset either." Then Teddy started to figit and cry so I lifted him up to Harry's level. He kissed Teddy on the head and then I brought him inside. Inside I took Teddy out of his carriage to hold him and watch Harry pull away.

Teddy let out a scream and he kicked his legs so I let him lay on his tummy on the floor. I grabbed my food and sat down with him, using the coffee table as a back rest. When Teddy still wasn't happy I went to his bucket of toys that used to be Hazels and got out quite a few. Content with his selection he poked a prodded at each of them. Losing interest and finding a different only to loose interest in that one and pick up the one from before. Unlike Hazel, Teddy would play with each and everyone of the toys we laid out in front of him. Hazel to this day still would play with a little stuffed bear.

I was transported back in time. Harry had just come back home from a short time in America. He hated ro be away, but he had to go. So it was just Hazel and I, and his mum, who had come to stay to not only keep me company, but also help me understand how to be a mum myself. She was in the kitchen making tea for Harry while we laid on the floor with our three month old daughter, Harry had stopped on the way home at the toy store and he bought a load of toys for her, and a couple packages of diapers. The toys weren't all the necessary, we had gotten loads from the baby shower before her birth, but the diapers came in perfect timing, I was already planning my next trip to get some.

Hazel had loved those toys, and Harry loved watching her play with them. Grabbing them and holding them. She would just stare at them, especially the ones that lit up or made noise. Unlike Hazel, Teddy was slightly afraid of the ones that made noise suddenly. And sure enough that was the one that Teddy was planing with. It rang and dinged, scaring him and putting him in tears. I hadn't noticed it had gone off until I heard his screams.

"It's all right little dude." I bounced him gently in my arms as I stood. Talking him down from his fear. I tapped the off button of the toy that sat on the floor at my feet. "See, it's over now. Shshshshhhhh" I tried. "Whats the matter little guy?" With the pad of my thumb I wiped away the tears he had started to shed. "Only two more hours and your sister will be home, what do you want to do now?" He watched me speak waiting for me to make our next move. I looked down at him thinking. "What can we do, that we don't get to do when dad and sis are home?"

"baba" He said. Or tried to say. He'd only just begun saying this a for a few days, and Harry and I came to conclusion it meant he wanted his bottle. We weren't sure if this was more of his baby talk or if he was really trying to speak with us.

I went to the kitchen to warm up some milk. His eyes lit up when I brought it out of the microwave. He reached for it while I tested it on my skin. It was fine so I carried him to the couch. I turned the TV on and sat feeding him. Soon enough the milk had made him tired, his mouth had stopped sucking and he had stopped trying to hold the bottle for himself. I reached setting it on the coffee table before moving so I was on my back and Ted was laying ontop of me. The volume on the TV was already down so it didn't take long for me to also fall asleep.

~~~~
"Mummy!" I woke to Hazel running through the house yelling my name. I jolted awake when I didn't feel Teddy's warmth or pressure still on top of me.
"Hazel? You're home already? Where's dad and Ted?" I called back out. Hazel ran up to me holding a piece of paint covered paper. I knelt down to her level. "Did you make this?" She nodded and smiled big. "Did you have a good day princess?"
"It was loads of fun and I met a girl named Suzane and she's really nice and she sits at my table!" I hugged her.
"I'm so happy you had a good day? Now, where is daddy and Ted?" I was still freaked out that I didn't know where Teddy was.
"Dad said he was going to put Ted in his crib." I scooped Hazel up and carried her with me.
"Harry?" I questioned while walking up to Ted's room.
"I'm in Teddy's room." He muttered, barely above a whisper.
He was staring down at him, but came and joined Hazel and I in the door way when he saw we were there. He gently pulled the door half way closed as we walked back down the hallway to the kitchen.
"How long have you guys been home?"
"Just got home and I thought you might like to nap with out the four month old figiting on top of you." He looked in the fridge as I set Hazel on top of the counter.
"Have you got to go back?" Hazel asked Harry.
"Back where darling?"
"The work?" She crinkled her eyebrows in concern.
"No, not today." I looked at him surprised. Hazel's eyes lit up with excitement and she jumped off the counter and into to Harry's arms. He had to drop his bottle of water to catch her, but he caught her.
"Let's go play then, please!!!" She asked.
"What about mummy? Can mummy come play, she'd been stuck in the house all day." Harry asked glancing over at me.
"Course Mum can come!" She tugged at my shirt and pulled be hind her and Harry.
"Let me just go grab the baby monitor real quick." I kissed her nose and dashed away quickly.
The sun was warm on my skin when I walked outside to our back garden. Harry was on all fours while Hazel tried to get on his back. I swooped in, lifting her up high above my head.
"Oh no! Looks like you magic is kicking in again!" I called pretending to fly her around the yard.
"Not again!" Hazel sound flustered. "I was just about to take a quest on my horse to see the king!"
"Maybe if you concentrate you make the magic take you back to your horse." I suggested.
"Are you concentrating?"
"I am!" She laughed. Harry stood in front of her grabbing her leg and hold them to his waist while she looked her arms around his neck. HE galloped across the yard, both of them laughing loudly.
"Where to Princess?" He spoke trying to sound like a horse, I think, but it just sounded like he had a really bad cough.
We played until Harry complained of being hungry. Hazel mimcked him while he held his tummy and pouting out his bottom lip. I laughed and pulled out my phone quickly. I quickly snapped a picture and sent it out to twitter- looks like it's time to feed the little ones. Walking back inside I noticed Harry had sent out a tweet. It was a picture of Ted and asleep on the couch. Nap time apprently, wish I could join them, but I've got to go to Hazel from her first day at school. #mydarlings.I smile to myself as I began making dinner for us.
