Who can you trust?

Chapter 6

I stood there motionless, “Why would you want to talk?”
He shrugged and placed an arm up against the wall, “I saw how upset you got. Mind if I come in?”
I looked around to see who had sent him, but I couldn’t find anyone, “Who sent you up here?” I questioned him.
He looked at me, “No one. I came up myself.”
Eventually, I agreed to let him in. I watched as he took a seat in a chair furthest from my bed. Harry looked up at me and motioned for me to sit on the bed. He obviously knew the term ‘personal space’, so I took advantage of that fact, and went over to sit down.
The room was silent for a few minutes. Harry seemed to be stumbling to find the right words to tell me, or I could have been the one stumbling. Either way, I didn’t want to say something to sound like a total retard. I had already made a huge fool of myself at the dinner table over a silly fight that I could have prevented. I didn’t know why relationships was such a touchy subject for me. They just were, and there was nothing I could say, nor do to explain that to make an outsider understand. At least, that’s what I thought.
Harry cleared the silence, “Are you okay?”
I shrugged as I looked down, “I’m alright. I just don’t like to talk about my private life to strangers.”
“I can understand that. I’m the same way.” Harry stated.
I looked up at him, “For some reason, I don’t buy that.”
He looked at me confused for a moment, but seemed to understand a few moments later, “I guess you’re one of those people who believes just because someone is famous, it means that they like talking about social lives?”
“That isn’t what I meant.” I objected, almost getting defensive.
Harry raised his hands up slightly. “I’m not trying to insult you.”
I calmed myself a little bit, “Go on.”
Harry let out a small sigh and began to talk to me again, “I understand how you feel. Whenever you just want to be left alone, that’s it. You don’t want to talk about anything, do anything, or even consider anything. However, when you want to talk to someone, it’s almost as if they don’t understand how your mind works, and it makes you so frustrated and angry. Am I right?”
My eyes widened in disbelief. There was no way a total stranger could possibly understand just exactly how another stranger felt. It was an impossibility to see a new person in your life tell you your life in a nutshell. It just couldn’t be. I looked at him for a minute with my eyes wide open. He looked back at me and smiled as if he knew what I was thinking.
“I know, shocked.” He responded to my silence.
“How the fuck did you do that?” I interrogated him.
Harry scooted to the end of his chair, “I told you already. I know how you feel, and I understand how upset this entire night has made you.”
“Wow, just wow.” was all that I could say.
Harry stood up and moved a bit closer to me, “I really do feel sorry for you. I shouldn’t have been so silent at the dinner table.”
“I don’t see how you could have been any help. I don’t even know you.” I said
“I could have still done something to stop the fight.” He said.
I laughed to myself, “No, you couldn’t have.”
“What makes you think that?” He asked me.
“First of all, Cierra will pick a fight regardless.” I said.
“Go on.” He replied.
“Second, she knows my weak points. If she wants to, she’ll call me out. It’s over now though, so I’m going to move on.” I shrugged.
Harry got up and walked over to me, holding out his hand, “Come with me.”
I looked at him, “No.”
“Just come with me.”
“I said no. I don’t even fucking know you.”
He groaned, “My name is Harry. I’m nineteen. I’m in a band. I may have a bad boy reputation and look, but deep down I’m just a fucking cupcake as some of my fans like to call me. I have a weird love for cats, and I’m probably the most awkward of all of the boys.”
I found myself laughed again, “What if I still say no?”
He grabbed my hand, “I say come the fuck on so we can go for a walk and get to know each other.”
“Damn, someone’s feisty.” I said.
He smirked, “Not feisty, I just don’t take no for an answer. Especially when it comes to get to knowing a new person.”
