Philophobia
Chapter Eighteen
"Take me home." I stammered.
"You're scared, aren't you?" He asked, now bringing a larger distance between our bodies.
My silence was enough to answer, while the pit grew at the bottom of my stomach. My eyes not leaving my shoes.
"Good. Be afraid, we all should be!" He then boomed. "If you play your cards right, Jaybird, you won't need to be scared." He whispered confidently.
"Take me home." I then repeated, my stomach now knotting together.
"Pack a bag, I'll be here before noon tomorrow morning." My eyes furrowed to a frown.
"Excuse me -" "you're excused." His sarcastic tone was only followed by a cheeky grin. Allowing his deep cut dimples to show.
"Enough acting like a child, Harry. I'm not going anywhere with you." Quickly, I released my seatbelt from the buckle. My hands then finding the door handle, after the click of the locks.
"I didn't give you an option." He sounded serious now, his voice deeper, more sure of himself.
"Looks as if I gave myself one, than." I retorted, while quickly unlocking my own door.
Once the door had slammed behind me, I felt the chill. Not the wind, not the night air. The feeling of no safety and closure. Not knowing what could happen when he wasn't around..
The sound of zippers, shuffling, and heavy breaths are what caught my attention. My eyes slowly adjusting to the growing light from outside.
I thought I was caught in a dream when I seen the dark figure in the corner of my room, throwing random clothes and belongings into a duffle bag. The mop hair growing familiar. Harry?
"What're you doing here?" My weakened voice from the morning awakening.
"Go back to sleep. It's too early, love." He whispered sweetly. Sweetly?
"No." I quickly recovered from my hazy thoughts.
"Don't be stubborn, Jaybird. Not now." He again whispered kindly. His back still faced to me.
"Come here," he then turned. Dropping the bag carefully to the ground quietly. Quickly walking towards me and wrapping his arms under me. Gently, I was lifted and was now being carried bridle style.
Oddly, I found this comforting as my head then rested against his chest, hearing the steady beat of his heart. Only a matter of seconds before my body had began to settle into a rest again.
"That's it, Jay, go to sleep." Harry's voice cooed from above me. The last thing I had heard before my eyes had shut into a dead sleep.
"Wake up. Jaybird, wake up." I felt the nudge on my arm quickly pushing me into a gasping awake.
"What?! Wait - Harry?" My brows furrowed once I noticed him, sitting in front of the wheel.
"We're here."
My eyes quickly skimmed the area outside my window. Only seeing the rain pour down against the glass, and the slight show of green noticeable from where I was sitting.
"Where is here?" I asked, now fully confused.
"No where." He smirked slight, before turning the grumble of the engine off.
