Truly, Madly, Deeply
Chapter Two
*Two weeks later*
I woke up to the alarm clock blasting music “And that’s what makes you beautiful!” I opened my eyes, blinking constantly, “And that was One Direction with What Makes You Beautiful!” I hit the snooze button and got up. I wrapped my towel around my body and headed down the hall to the bath room. ‘Shower time’ I thought.
I was just passing my parents room, when I heard a giggle. ‘That’s not mom’s laugh’ I shook my head and continued toward the bathroom, turned the shower tap on and waited for it to get warm. “Alexandra?” I heard a soft knock and a creak.
“Yeah?” I stood in the shower waiting awkwardly.
“Are your things packed?” Dad asked sternly. I nodded, not really processing what I was doing. “Are they?” he asked again, now annoyed.
“Yes dad they are!” I shouted. I heard the door close. 'Whatever' I thought and continued my shower; the last one I was going to have in my own home.
---
“Hurry up Alex! You don’t want to miss the flight” My dad grabbed my hand and began fast walking and pulled me along behind him.
“Let go!” I snatched my hand back, I out grew that holding hand with parent phrase. Riley was walking beside me rolling one of my suitcases behind her, I had another and dad was carrying two bags. “What did you pack in these Alex? They're so heavy” Dad complained
“Essentials, just like you said” I smiled,
“Okay bud” Dad sarcastically said
We got to the check in; “Hi did we miss-” Dad began, but I zoned out of the conversation and looked around the airport.
‘Cute guys were everywhere, why am I wearing sweats and some random band shirt?” Oh my gosh, that one just smiled at me.’ I smiled back and turned around quickly,
“Okay Alex, everything is setup. I want you to be careful and listen to your uncle.” My dad said he pulled me into an embrace, I nodded.
“Bye Aly, I’ll miss you and call you. See you in like two weeks” Riley muffled as she hugged me.
“Bye sis. Have fun here” I patted her back.
I had an hour to just mess around and do nothing. I was given $200 for airport stuff and airplane food. Dad said Uncle Simon would pay for the rest when I’m there. I went to the gate where I was supposed to wait for the hour, and sat and just chilled out to music waiting. The hour felt like a day, it took forever.
“Flight 38 to London is ready for boarding. Families with small children please line up.” The attendant spoke over the speaker.
I got up even though it was small children and their families; I wanted to stretch my legs. I finally boarded twenty minutes after the families boarded. ‘Yay, now seven more hours in this plane’ I thought.
