Chapter Eight
“Morning!” I said cheerfully as Harry stumbled into my kitchen early the next day.
“Are you always this happy hung-over?” Harry asked as he slumped down into one of the dining chairs, his head resting in his hands.
“Here, drink these.” I said as I gave him a cup of coffee and a bottle of water.
“Thanks.” He replied. “About last night…” he started.
“What about it?” I asked as I came to sit beside him.
“Don’t you remember what happened at the club last night?” He asked, refusing to make eye contact with me.
“Oh, that.” I replied. “It was nothing, it’s not like you have feelings for me or anything. Don’t worry about it.” Harry finally looked up at me but without saying a word.
“Grace…” He began.
“No, Harry. Don’t say it.” I told him as I stood up from my chair.
“I think I’m falling for you.” Harry whispered. “I know I shouldn’t be because you’re with James and I’m with Pippa… oh god, Pippa.” He said as if he was just remembering the girl he was lying in bed with only a few moments ago – my best friend. “I can’t stop thinking about you all the time.” Harry continued on. “I really-” I interrupted him before he could finish his little speech.
“Harry. You’re with my best friend and I’m with yours! You can’t tell me this and expect me to admit that I’m also falling for you because I can’t do that.” I raged on.
“Gracey...” he said. He was the only one to ever call me Gracey.
“Harry, we were drunk last-night. It meant nothing… god, nothing actually even happened between us!”
“I know you don’t feel that way. You certainly didn’t last night!”
“NOTHING HAPPENED BETWEEN US!” I screamed a little too loudly. “What’s your problem Harry? Seriously, even if something did happen, it would mean absolutely nothing to me.” I lied to him harshly. “Just, leave me alone, ok?”
“What’s happening out here? What’s all the yelling for?” Brooke mumbled as she walked slowly out of her room. Her eyes were shut and she was running her hands through her tangled hair indicating we had woken her up. She obviously hadn’t heard the beginning of our conversation.
“It’s nothing, don’t worry B.” I assured her as I walked quickly to her side.
“I have to go.” Harry said, standing up from his spot at the kitchen table. His coffee and water left untouched.
“No, you should stay.” I said, looking at the ground. “I was just leaving anyway.” I told him as I slipped some shoes on, grabbed my bag, keys and coat before slamming the front door behind me as I left in a huff.
“Seriously Harry, what happened between you two?” I heard Brooke ask from behind the door.
“Nothing. Grace was just overacting.” Harry replied.
“Oh… ok.” Brooke replied. “Well I’m going back to bed. Are you coming?”

“Grace?” James said as he answered the door once I got to his house. “When I said come early, I didn’t mean while I was still asleep.”
“I’m sorry.” I apologized. “I had a fight with Harry back at my house and I didn’t know where to go.”
“Come in then.” James said, holding the door open for me. “You are always welcome here.” He told me. He pulled my waist in closer towards him and gave me a kiss on my forehead. As we walked into his kitchen, James pulled off my coat and placed on the back of one of the chairs. “Nice pajamas by the way.” He whispered into my ear. I looked down and realized I still had my grey shorts and white night shirt that I had been wearing this morning. (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=92274799).
“I forgot to get changed.” I explained embarrassingly.
“Are you staying here the whole day?”
“Depends on what you want.” I replied.
“Well, I want to spend the day with my gorgeous girlfriend watching movies and eating ice-cream, among other fun things we can do alone.” He winked.
“Sound’s exciting.” I smiled, snuggling into my cute boyfriend.
