Happy?
Samantha's POV:
You know that time when the sky is gray and dark, and the rain pours down, and you have that horrible feeling in your stomach? Like you want to cry, or shout, and just let everything out? Today, I felt like that.
I should have known to follow my gut. It told me something bad would happen, but I just ignored the feeling because I thought that everyday was bad for me.
But apparently, today was worse.
After 'getting to know Niall', he took me out to the park. I remember that's the first place I went on a date with Niall. First sign.
The second sign was the gray skies, the clouds a blanket covering the sun.
The third sign was that everything was eerily quiet. No one was at the park except for us. The birds weren't even here.
We leaned against the willow tree standing, its twisted branches gnarled and knotted. In my stomach, I felt that feeling when you're holding a scream or a sob back.
Small rain drops started dropping. I shivered inside my jacket, thinking that this date went terribly wrong.
And it took a turn for the worst.
Niall knelt down on the ground on one knee. My eyes widened, and I prayed that it wouldn't happen. Oh, please--
"Samantha Greyfield, you are the love of my life. I love it when I hold you, when you cook the most delicious lunches, when your smile lights up the whole room, and how you care for everyone. If I kept going on about the wonderful aspects of you, then we'd never leave this park." Niall took out a small, velvet box. He opened the box, and there lay a ring encrusted with diamond laying on a plump cushion. "Will you marry me?"
That was supposed to be the happiest time of my life.
It was the worst.
No, scratch that. The worst time of my life would be when I told Louis I didn't love him, but inside, I knew I was lying to him, and to myself.
I plastered on smile on my face, and said, "Yes! Yes, Niall!"
It felt wrong when he slipped the ring on my finger. It felt abnormal.
But that wasn't the worst part of my day. The worst part was when we were at the dining table, and Niall proudly announced, "Samantha and I are getting married!"
I stood up and smiled at everyone, acting like I actually wanted to. But it was my mission to mend Niall's heart.
But my certainty faded away when I saw Louis' broken heart written on his face.
