*Cat’s POV*

Hot coffee was sitting in front of me, my hand resting on the handle of the cup. I looked up from the booth, seeing Colton take a sip of his own coffee and flip through the local newspaper he had before I even met him.

“How long are you going to stare at that?” I asked, getting really agitated with this man.

Colton flipped to another page of the newspaper, looking at its contents as he began speaking. “I’ve been sent here originally to find out about an underground organization that has been roaming around London for quite some time. HQ thought I would be perfect for the job. It seemed since you were already here, they thought, hey! We could work together.”

He shut the newspaper and folding it up before tossing it to the side. He rested his elbows on the table and letting a hand lightly touch the cup of his coffee, holding it by the handle. “What does you having to find an underground organization have to do with you having to be my partner?”

He held up a finger at me, waving it some. “Ah! That is a very good question!” He brought his finger down before shrugging. “I’m not really sure, but I do remember making a comment to HQ about their next target in question: Michelle Rosalie Anderson.”

I felt my eyes light up in question. I settled into my seat, wanting to know more. “What about her?” I asked him.

“I only made the comment that if that girl was anything like her parents, she’d be making herself a part of that organization. I guess they took my commentary seriously.”

I let my head fall into my hands. “It’s the CIA we’re talking about. They take everything seriously.”

“They should know me though. I’ve been known to let things slip.”

“For some reason, I can believe it…” I muttered to myself. I let my arms fall into my lap as I leaned back against the booth. “Okay, so they think Michelle is a part of this underground organization. I’m in charge of her while you are in charge of the organization.”

Colton nodded, confirming what I was trying to lay out straight. I leaned on the table toward him. “How are we going to go about this?”

The biggest grin came across the boy’s face. He lifted a finger, pointing straight at me. “You.”

“Huh?”

“Think about it. Michelle is after you. It’s obvious she was tightly connected to her parents, after their death, she wants to fulfill their legacy in killing you. So… what better way to leer her out of hiding than to throw you out there where she can see you?”

I couldn’t believe the words that were coming out of his mouth. “And what? Let her kill me?”

The crazy bastard actually had the nerve to laugh. “Oh, jeez, no. If she was smart, she’d know better than to lash out like that. I know for a fact she doesn’t want to get caught. You will leer her out, and I will take over from there. I’ll find out who she is working for, from there, we can take both her and that organization down.”

I laid back against the booth again, thinking. I stared at this man, taking him in. There was one particular question I had in mind though. “Tell me… what if she has no part in this organization you were assigned to find?”

Colton shrugged. “Everything is a theory. You just have to test it out. Either way, the CIA will be happy that another target can get crossed off their list.”

I chewed on the inside of my cheek. I remember Morgan’s words about this man being a genius. IQ of 152? That was high. If what he said would work, would it be worth it. Wait a minute, how in the hell was I supposed to make myself known. I asked him this. He just snorted like I was stupid.

“Seriously? Obviously through Louis Tomlinson.”

Well, fuck. So much for keeping him under the radar.
