"The muscular system is responsible for the movement of the human body. Attached to the bones of the skeletal system are about 700 named muscles... and hold on class it appears to be that I am boring someone to sleep over here. Excuse me, Miss Jessica..." My professor nagged while walking over to my desk just as I was dozing off.
"I'm sorry that this isn't some interesting topic like: coffee or boys, but I would appreciate it if you'd do a little less sleeping and a little more paying attention. Just because you scored high on the last exam doesn't give you immunity for the next."
"Yes, professor. I apologise."
The thing was I had to wake up early to study for an exam I was having today in my french class, and since I chose to be ignorant and go to that frat party last night, I didn't sleep for shit. So, now here I am half awake, half asleep, and struggling to pay attention to anything coming out of my professor's mouth. God please give me strength.
Class went on for the next hour until we were finally dismissed, and I had to get back to my dorm to get ready for work. I sped walked from the lecture hall I was in, over to my dorm where I ran into Liz, who I hadn't seen since last night.
"Hey, Jess... listen, about last night-"
"Uh, its okay. I'm sorry about the way I acted... it was shitty of me to leave you there, and again I'm really sorry."
"No, no, it's totally okay. And I'm sorry for dragging you to a party that you clearly didn't wanna go too... friends again?" Liz asked.
"Friends." I smiled walking over to give her a hug, it seems like no matter how much Liz and I argue we still end up friends in the end which is great, because she's like the only friend I have here.
"So, how did you get home last night?"
"I walked back to save money... you?"
"Actually, Nolan gave me a ride this morning. Weeee uhhh, hooked up last night... PLEASE don't be mad!"
"How could I be mad if I'm not even attracted to him?" I laughed.
"Well, I dunno. But, I know how much you hate him... sooooo I figured you'd be upset that I hooked up with him."
"Girl, I can't control you, and frankly I don't want too. Do what you want. Hook up with whoever you want, it really doesn't effect me."
"Anyways, I'd love to hear how everything played out after I left, but I gotta get ready for-"
"Work. Yeah I know. I'll just tell you later!" She squealed jumping around.
"Alright you guys, you have almost all of today to rehearse for tomorrow's performance at the Grand Amphitheater so please take things seriously, we really don't have as much time to joke around, especially since we have to be in LA by Friday night." Our manager Richard lectured while we were on our way back to the university to practice for tomorrow night and check out the spot for the "first" time.
"Hey, uh, Luke."
"What's up Cal?"
"Do you remember that girl from last night?"
"First of all keep your voice down or we'll get in trouble, and second the one that almost caught us? Yeah, why?"
"No major reason. I was just wondering if you think we'll see her again when we go back to campus..."
"Dude, please tell me you aren't crushing on some random girl that you could barely see, and don't even know!"
"I'm not crushing. I was just wondering."
"Well, in my opinion from the way she replied to Ash last night, she kinda sounded like a bitch, so I doubt you want anything to do with that."
"Yeah, you're right. Thanks Luke..." Maybe Luke's right. I shouldn't be into someone I don't even know, and it's not like I'll ever see her again, so I guess it just doesn't matter.
"Alright guys we're here! Let's check it out." We all got out of the car and walked over to the venue while Richard unlocked the side entrance door for us to walk in. Luke really did have it right last night, it really was way better on the inside.
"Alright so we're going to take a tour right now with the president of the associated students..."
Could it be her?
"Name is Nolan, and he should be here any minute. He'll be showing us some of the features of the Amphitheater and informing us on some of the history as well."
"Richard with all due respect, we aren't uni students here... so don't ya think we should just skip the history and move on to the fun stuff?" Mike asked.
"Listen we signed a contract with the school, so this is mandatory." Before anyone could argue some guy walked in and introduced himself to us.
"Hello and welcome to San Diego, my name is Nolan and I am the president of the associated students here. Today I will be showing you guys around the Amphitheater and telling you a little bit about the history of how our Amphitheater got to be so Grand." He chuckled, God what a terrible pun.
"This guys so annoying." Mike whispered, as we began the little tour of the Amphitheater which was expected to be extremely uneventful.
"Aaaand that concludes the tour, thank you all for listening and enjoy your stay here!" The guy said wrapping up his boring and long tour.
"Thank you uhhh..."
"Nolan. Nolan Funk."
"Yes! Nolan, thanks again!" Richard said, shaking his hand before they guy exited the Amphitheater. "Okay, guys take five and then we'll go down to the stage and begin rehearsals." The boys and I walked over to some seats on the side and sat down and began waiting until we were summoned again.
"Alright guys, this is Cory and he will be giving you some do's and don'ts while on stage."
"Hi Cory." We all greeted at the same time.
"Hey guys. Nice to meet all of you. So, I'm just going to jump right in, and let you know to be extremely careful when walking around on stage, as you can all see we have alotta cords and obstacles that you all can trip on. Now, I realise that you guys are probably used to jumping, and walking around while performing, but you have to kinda get used to the plan we set up for each of you. For example, Luke you're going to be up front over here." He pointed to a square up front and urged Luke to walk over. "Calum you'll be over here on the right side, Michael you'll be on the left, and Ashton we have the podium up there for you and your drums." We all walked over to our squares as he pointed to our spots, and began practicing how we'll be moving around being careful not to go over our lines.
"This is so stupid. Like, how are we suppose to jam out and have fun knowing that any wrong move could hurt us? What if one of us were to get hurt?! We could easily sue!" Mike asked sounding upset and frustrated.
"I know it sounds stupid, but you guys signed a contract, and in that contract it states that if anyone were to get hurt it would legally not be our fault since we informed you all about the cords and wires, and provided square spaces for you to move around."
"The fans are totally going to think something's wrong with us. I can see it now." Ashton added.
"Ashton's right. Richard we need to talk, like right now!" Luke demanded.
"Alright Alright, Cory I gotta talk to the boys. Everyone circle up over here." Richard waved for us to come over to him to discuss the ridiculous rules this place had for us. We all nodded and began walking off stage, I began to run over when I tripped on a cord that I hadn't seen and fell off stage, landing badly on my leg. Fuck me right?
