Steal Her Heart

Introduction

Moldy take-out cartons and crust ridden pizza boxes were stacked neatly in the corner of the room where an abundance of beer bottles and alcohol containers rose high from the depths of a huge trashcan.

It was most definitely a sign of how long they had resided to live in the boarded up, nearly condemned apartment.

Around the small room written plans and blueprints scattered the table, leaking down onto the blood-stained floor. A story to the widest imagination playing out in the minds that could only fathom the thoughts.

In truth, the characters responsible for its rich history were still seated at the table, quarter past one in the morning.

The youngest pointed at a door on the blueprint.

"We go in the front, I'll head to the teller and you three guard the exits to make sure no one tries getting cute. We go in, we get the cash and leave. Simple as that. No screwups, no hesitations. If a customer attempts to leave, you shoot. Understand?" His jaded green eyes looking from the blueprint up to the faces of each individual man, realizing there was only the four of them.

He threw his arm down onto the table and sighed.

"We've outlined every possible situation. Kill the guards if they interfere. Take a hostage if it all goes South and then kill them after we're in the clear. I believe our time in London is closing to its end and I can't afford to lose another one of us, yeah?" He rephrased, staring at the oldest.

The man returned the understanding with a nod.

"Alright, H. We have your back mate. Don't stress." He assured, smacking the other two in their heads. They had yet to say anything, knowing how uneasy they already were of upsetting Harry.

"Yeah, we understand Harry. Were ready," The second oldest assured, looking to the third oldest. "Right Irish?"

The third guy nodded, turning to the oldest.

"Ya, ready." He replied, his bright blue eyes gleaming with excitement. "Can we stop off for breakfast first though? No use holding up a place on an empty stomach." He said as an afterthought.

"Shut up, Niall." The second oldest hissed, shaking his head.

Niall's eyes fell, the spark slowly dying.

"Sorry, Liam. I was just kidding – okay, I wasn't completely taking the piss. I mean, who in their right mind skips breakfast to rob a bank?" Niall asked, turning to the oldest.

He had a grin on his face, but he was wise to reply nothing to the obvious retort.

"Us. Now go to bed Niall or we'll never get there on time. Bank opens at eight sharps. Everyone needs to be dressed, pressed and ready by half passed zero-seven hundred." Harry nodded to the eldest of the gang. "Louis, you will be in charge of getting everyone up."

Louis smiled more.

"Goody, seven thirty in the morning and it's nearly fuck all in the morning – hope my inner motivation can crawl its arse out of bed by then." Louis replied, nodding to everyone and heading into the next room where four mattresses were set on the floor.

That's all that was in the room and since no other lights but the one dim bulb above them was turned on, it wouldn't take Louis much time to drift off.

"You will, because you know what will happen if you don't." Harry called with warning, setting his sites on Niall, he was standing beside Liam to see if there was anything else the young leader might require.

A glare slowly morphed onto his face.

"Bed." He gestured easily to the other room, standing up and stretching his long frame tiredly, heading to get a final beer from the fridge in the opposite corner of where the rubbish bin was.

Liam cleared his throat and followed Louis' lead, his footsteps echoing muffled by the splintering wood on the floor from old age.

Niall decided that he'd much prefer not to piss Harry off, after all – mad Harry was a really bad combination.

He walked to the threshold of the other room, almost crossing into the abyss of darkness.

"Niall?" Harry called, catching the slightly older lad's attention.

Niall turned back questioningly.

"Yeah mate?" He returned, noticing Harry did look a bit concerned.

"Focused. I need you to get focused, yeah?" Harry spoke sternly, his brows furrowing with the forlorn expression in his green orbs.

Niall saw the look and knew that he had very little faith in the Irish bloke, but it was something else. Something other than this job was bothering him.

"I'll be ready, H. You can always count on me." He tried to reassure.

Harry's lips twisted into a soft smile, his dimples hidden beneath the ingenue action.

"I trust you. Goodnight, Niall." Harry bid, turning to look outside the crack of the boarded window.

Niall saluted and finally went to his mattress to settle in.

Harry turned from the window, sipping his beer with a worried feeling settling in his stomach. He always worried until the job was over, however, this feeling was different. Something was warning him not to go and if he was smart he'd listen to that intuition.

Unfortunately, greed always seemed to get the better of him and had he known then what he knows now, Harry knew he would be in a lot less trouble for it.

With a final groan, he finally put the beer down and headed to bed, pushing away the uneasiness. It was just nerves, he was positive.

Fate is a fickle thing though. It gives us what we need, just not always what we want and if Harry Styles knew what the next day would bring, he never would have gone out to pull that job.
