Deviprya

Chapter Three

Amynta

Harry took me back to his home, and I now sat on his kitchen counter as he tended to the cut on my forehead. He had picked me up, and in a flash I was faced with a tall house. It was three stories in size, and was built with old red bricks. It was your typical 1800's mansion in upstate New York, with its own flare to it.

"You still have neglected to answer my question." I reminded the boy. His pink lips turned upright revealing soft indentions on his cheeks. Christ this man was beautiful. Tan skin with drawings etched on it, kind green eyes, tall in figure, with toned muscles flexing as he moved.

"Well Amy I am what is called a Deviprya." He replied, still leaving me with questions.

"And what might that be?" I asked him. Harry picked me up from the counter, and placed me on the floor. He gestured for me to follow him, and I did. We walked out back, and I saw a large rose garden. The fall had started to wilt the flowers, but they were all the same beautiful. We sat on a bench in front of a stone fountain, that had a mermaid spewing water from her lips.

"Let me start by telling you how Deviprya came to be. Aphrodite, the maker of all emotions, had never been to our realm until she heard false rumors of her coming from ancient Greece. She was horrified to learn that she was being called a goddess, and that the humans believed there were others like her." Harry began, and I stared at him with wonder.

"If she isn't a goddess than what is she?" I asked him not fully understanding this part of his story.

"She's an idea. When the first man loved the first woman, and the first woman loved the first child, Aphrodite was became a part of the universe. Out of love she made all the positive emotions happiness, joy, even humor." Harry told me, another smile pulling at the corner of his lips. His green eyes searching mine for a reaction.

"Who made all of the negative emotions?" I asked him.

"After the first child was born a volcano erupted, and Aphrodite was so fearful for the humans on earth that she made something she hadn't intended to. She made fear, hate, anger, and all the other negative emotions. I digress, when Aphrodite arrived in ancient Greece she saw war, and brutality like she never could have imagined. This terrified her so she she took the hearts of the purest souls on earth, and hid them in chest so they couldn't be tainted." Harry explained to me. I took the chest out of my bag, and he nodded to me.

"Once their hearts were hidden away, they could only love their family and others like them. Aphrodite decided to give them a job, and with this job came powers and sacrifices. They would have the ability to warp human emotions for the better. They could feel everything humans felt, and hear every thought they had. She gave them unimaginable strength and speed, and in return she asked that they teach humans to love again." Harry continued, but seemed to sense my displeasure with his story.

"That doesn't seem hardly right. She takes away their hearts and their feelings, and expects them to fix the entire world. That's not fair." I told him, and he laughed.

"Well it surely isn't easy my love, but the Aphrodite gave them something in return for their sacrifice." He told me, and placed his hand on top of mine. He raised my hand up to his lips, and placed a soft kiss on it. My stomach did back flips, and I was sure that blood had began to rise in my cheeks.

"We could have our hearts back after our mates found them. Aphrodite made someone from Deviprya bloodline special for each one of is, who would jumpstart our hearts so we could love again. They would find our the chest our mothers made, and then they would come find us." Harry told me a nervous smile dancing across his lips. Mate? Is he saying that were destined to be together? As charming as this creature seemed, I could still hear Tasha in the back of my head telling me this was insane. True or not, it was too much.

"You doubt me Amynta, it's okay I understand. Tell me you don't feel it too? Deep down inside of you this all feels right does it not?" Harry asked me lightly. I looked back to the fountain thinking about his question. I remembered the love I had for my little thump, and the thought that it was mine alone. That little thump was apart of this man. Upon hearing his voice in the street, I felt a relief I had never felt before. I felt whole and comfortable.

"Do you believe that story you just told me?" I asked him, now neglecting his own question. I knew what I was feeling, but my inner Tasha reminded me to keep up my guard.

"I'm not quite sure if I'm being honest. I believe in love, I know this. I also believe that we can't choose who we love it, chooses us. Whether that be fate, Aphrodite, or both." Harry replied, and I nodded. I appreciated his honesty.

"Well Mate or not," I began, jumping off the bench playfully. His green orb were shining back up at me.

"I'm not just going to be with you. Fate or not." I continued and he chuckled at me.

"I want to know you first." I concluded. Harry gave me a cheeky smile, and stood up. I felt his large hand cup my face, his rough palm giving rise to goosebumps on my flesh.

"Only if I can get to know you as well my love." Harry insisted, admiration coating the tone of his voice. I nodded, and pulled myself to him again. I enjoyed hugging him, something about have his arms engulf me made me feel at peace.

"Would you... would you like to meet my pack? They are very excited that you are here. I can feel the enthusiasm radiating from the house." Harry asked me, almost appearing nervous. I nodded to him, and he seemed quite pleased with my agreement.

I let the boy lead me back into his house, a hand on my back gently guiding me. When I walked back into the kitchen I saw a room full of people staring back at me. All of them had glowing green eyes like Harry's, but not nearly as bright as his.

The only woman who seemed to hold any age to her approached me. He long brunette hair cascaded down her back, and she had a smile that reminded me of Harry's own smile. The older woman pulled me away from Harry and into a hug.

"Oh you're absolutely gorgeous! Welcome to the family love!" The woman cheered happily. I hardly knew Harry, and knew even less about his family. Yet she was already including me. Even though it struck me as rather peculiar, it excited me. I hugged the woman back a small smile decorating my lips.

"Mum this is Amynta. Amy this is my mum." Harry introduced us. I smiled at the woman, admiring the resemblance she held to her son.

"I still can't understand why you don't know of our kind. Why is it that your parents failed to teach you something so important? At least one of them must be Deviprya." Another woman accused. She appeared to be the age of the rest of the group. Next to her waa a tall man with a buzz cut, and kind eyes. He tightened his grip on her waist as she spoke, almost as if he was hoping she would stop.

"That is enough Cheryl." Harry told her sternly, almost as if threatening her. I felt his hand being placed on my back, almost as if he was protecting me.

"Well my father is most definitely human, as for my mother I never had the chance to meet her, she died while giving birth to me." I told them, and the sophisticated looking woman laughed at me. I would me lying if I said I wasn't offended by it, and couldn't contain my glare.

"Dear one if your father isn't of Deviprya bloodline, then your mother must have been. Deviprya's cannot die giving birth, even in our weakest states. So either you are lying to us, or you have been lied to." The woman Cheryl concluded. My dad had always told me mum had died giving birth, but no one else would speak of her death. There was no grave for me to visit of hers.

"My love do you know why you might have been lied to?" Harry asked me, his tone comforting me. I relaxed a bit, and felt my eyebrows turn into a frown. My father had always been honest, but he was a paranoid man.

"My father has always said that the love he had for my mother was almost unnatural. Dad is quite paranoid though, it might of been his way of protecting me." I explained looking at Harry. I felt his arm slide up my back and make its way to my shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. I instinctively leaned into him, and couldn't help but to notice the smile that played on his lips from my actions.

"Has he always been like this, paranoid?" The man next to Cheryl asked.

"No my grandma says he was quite different before my mother. He use to be a university professor, but he doesn't leave the house anymore. My Nana believes my mom was a witch of sorts, and put a spell on him. I never paid that idea any mind." I told the man with kind eyes. He gave me a sympathetic smile, and a knowing nod. Cheryl seemed displeased with my answer, and his response to it.

"She sounds like a Daemonium to me." Cheryl scoffed in disgust, flicking her hair behind her shoulder. The whole room went silent, as if she had spoken a forbidden word. The uneasiness in the room sent a chill up my spine, but did not dispose of my curiosity.

"What is a Daemonium?"

Silence.

Harry

I explained to Amynta the difference between a Angelus Deviprya and a Daemonium Deviprya. Cheryl left during the conversation, deciding that her mark had already been left. I was going to have to have a word with her later. She is skeptical of Amynta, but Amy is clearly my mate.

Afterwards I introduced her to the rest of the pack, who was more welcoming than Cheryl. We were all now sitting in the living room talking. I learned quite a bit about her. I learned that she worked at an old library, that her dad was a bit of a shut in, and about her best friend Tasha who was also her roommate. She let a soft yawn escape her pink lips, and I placed my hand on hers.

"You're tired my love. Why don't you come rest in my bedroom?" I offered her. She looked over to the old grandfather clock we had next to the television, and shook her head.

"I have work at ten Harry, and it will take me hours to get back home. I should probably leave." I told me sadly. I could tell everyone was upset with her answer as well, especially Eleanor. It was apparent that Eleanor was enjoying having another woman around. I looked at the clock myself, and saw it was three in the morning.

"Where do you live darlin'?" I asked her, and her eyes lit up.

"Naples." She replied, and I smiled.

"Wine country?" Louis asked, and she nodded happily.

"My Nana owns a vineyard there." Amynta informed us, and the goofy brunette seemed impressed with my answer. While it was a bit far by car, it wouldn't take long for me to take her there. Maybe thirty minutes at the most. It only took half an hour for us to travel to Rochester, and Naples is maybe an hours drive south of there.

"I will take you there, and it will take me maybe thirty minutes. I will have your car brought to you, but for now you must rest." I insisted, but the tall beauty still seemed quite uneasy with my answer. I placed my hand on top of her, and gave her a pleading look.

"You won't let me over sleep?" She asked her voice draped with exhaustion. I shook my head, stood up, and held my hand out for her. Amynta gladly took it and allowed me to help her off the couch.

I led her up the wooden stairs to my bedroom. She still clutched her purse to her side, and I could hear my own heartbeat. It was a strange thing to hear, my mum hid my heart when we first came to America in the early twenties. I haven't hear it or seen the chest since then.

I opened the door to my rather plain bedroom. It had a decent sized bay window taking up most of the left wall. In the middle of the room a large king sized bed was decorated with royal purple covers. The right wall held an antique desk I had brought over from England, and a stack of notebooks full of journal entries I had written over the years. On the wall closest to the door was a dresser containing my clothes, and a wooden bookcase full of classic literature. The only thing that really stood out in the caramel colored room was a black guitar standing proud in the corner.

"Your room is quite lovely." The girl observed, and I shook my head. Being as I have lived over one hundred years you would think I would have managed to collect more things. Alas I realized with my first forty years that few things in this world are timeless, and possessions certainly had an expiration date.

"I think it is very bohemian." She added on, and I couldn't disagree with her statement.

"I think you are very bohemian." I told her, and noticed blood rise to her pale cheeks giving them a to rosey color. The pace of the young girls heart quickened for a second, but soon returned to it's normal rhythm.

"Lie down now my love, I'll wake you in a few hours." I assured her. Amynta complied, sitting down on the linens, and removing her boots. I pulled back the comforter, and she climbed under the warmth of the sheets. The girl carefully placed her bag beside the bed. I tucked my love in, and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. As I was getting up to leave I felt her small hand grab my own. She had a shy look on her face, but this didn't stop her from voicing her desires.

"Harry will you lay with me please?" The soft spoken girl asked. Instead of responding I took my own shoes off, and laid under the blankets next to her. I was shocked when she rolled over and laid her head on my chest. Her arms hugged my torso as her eyes closed. I pulled her closer to me letting my own arms wrap around her body.

I woke up at half past eight in the morning. Amynta was still glued to my body. I let out a blissful sigh, and indulged in the moment. I had been on this earth for over a century, but I had never felt as content as I do now. I placed a kiss on her forehead, and moved the hair from my eyes.

"It's time to wake up my love." I whispered into her ear. I watched the girl stir in my arms, and her lips form a small pout. Amy didn't to awaken from my words, so I moved my hand to cup cheek.

"Beautiful Amynta, wake up." I insisted my voice slightly louder than before. I combed my fingers through her brunette hair hoping to stir her. She whimpered a bit, but opened her eyes. Amynta's lips turned from a pout to a smile at the sight of me.

"You're real. I was worried I might have dreamt you up." She informed me, breaking off into a slight giggle. I hummed and shook my head, letting my lips press against her forehead yet again.

Eleanor gave Amynta some clothes to change into. A simple cocoa colored sweater and jeans that suited her demeanor. She braided her hair, and let the braid rest on her left shoulder.

Liam had made a run to get her some breakfast. He picked her up a coffee and donuts. We ate food on occasion, simply because we did enjoy the taste, but we didn't have any real need for it so it wasn't kept in the house.

Louis promised her that he would drive her car to her place of work, and we were off. She clutched me and her bag tightly, as I zoomed through the New York landscape. I stopped at the library she told me about, and she insisted I come inside.

"AMYNTA LENNAN WHERE IN THE ACTUAL FUCK YOU BEEN GIRL!?" I heard a woman scream. A tired and angry woman appeared in front of us.

"In Davy Jones locker, and I've brought him back to meet you." She replied, and I frowned my eyebrows in confusion. I wasn't quite catching on to what she was saying. The girl who I assumed was Tasha snatched my wrist up. She felt for a pulse, and her eyes went wide when she didn't find one.

"OH HELL NO, NUH UH, NOPE!" She snatched Amynta off of my arm, and pulled the girl to her. Amynta frowned, but I gave her a reassuring smile. Honestly her friend was reacting more normal to the situation than Amynta had.

"I shall leave you ladies to catch up. Goodbye my love, a pleasure to make your acquaintance Tasha." I told them, blowing Amynta a kiss. She blushed but caught it.

"FUCK OUTTA HERE UNDEAD PRINCE CHARMING!" The girl screamed, throwing an old book at me. I dodged it, and went out the door. Well. That could have gone better.

Notes

I DID IT I UPDATED! I've had so much going on lately, I'm actually moving baco north soon which has been stressful, but should help with my inspiration for the story. I really love New York as a state, there's so many different city's and towns that all have their own flare to them. Anyways I didn't edit this chapter because I really just wanted to get the update in , and it was much longer than the last two. I do hope you enjoyed it, let me know what you think so far.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO THROW OUT SUGGESTIONS THE FANTASY GENRE IS VERY STILL QUITE FOREIGN TO ME!
