Lie To Me

I woke up the next morning with Luke and smiled, but knew if we were caught I was done for. I got in the shower to stall going downstairs.
“Can I join?” Luke asked a few minutes later, I nodded.
I got in and kissed my shoulders.
He grabbed the soap and started lathering my back.

*11 months ago*

I woke up to Hunter getting in the shower. I jumped up and went into the bathroom.
“Can I join?”
“Please.” He smiled.
“Last night was--”
“Amazing.” He smiled, kissing me.
“Exactly.” I smiled.
“Want to have another go at it?”
“I thought you’d never ask.” I smiled, pushing him against the shower wall.

I was drying off and Hunter walked over.
“I know this may be too soon and I may ruin everything, but I think I’m falling in love with you.” he spoke.
My heart raced. I haven’t loved anyone aside from Luke my entire life. Yet, Hunter gave me butterflies. He treats me right and the only time he leaves me is for a week of work. No other woman, no lies, I am his priority.
“I think I’m falling for you too.”

*Present day*

Luke snuck out of my room after getting dressed.
“What am I doing?” I asked myself in the mirror.
I walked downstairs to the boys, Crystal, and Emma leaving.
“What’s on the agenda today?” Sarah asked.
“Sulking in misery.” I responded.
“It happened again, huh?”
“Does everyone know?”
“No, but I do. I know you almost as well as Luke himself.”
I sighed.
“How about we try to get some wedding planning done and see if you change your mind.”
“Change it?” I asked.
“You’ve made up your mind even if you won’t admit it.”
I half smiled. “I guess we could do that. Why did everyone leave?”
“Well, you ran out of food, alcohol, and they all need to change clothes eventually.” Sarah chuckled.
“Fair enough. Did you know Luke lives next door?” I asked, she looked taken back, “Yeah, me neither. That’s why we disappeared. We got in a fight that turned into.. Ya know.”
“Gotcha.” She replied.
“Hey, how are you and Ash?”
She blushed, “Amazing. I can’t believe it took so long.”
“No one can.” I laughed.
Sarah pulled every wedding catalog possible out of nowhere.
“Oh boy.”

“I can’t look at another picture.” I gasped.
“Me neither. Weddings are hard.” Sarah laughed.
My phone buzzed, so did Sarah’s.
C: Hey ladies! Luke’s place tonight? Fully stocked on booze, pizza, and brand new furniture to ruin. Bring your swimsuits!
“If you don’t want to go we can stay here.” Sarah responded.
“It’s okay. I could use the new scenery.” I smiled.
“I’ll go get ready at my place and meet you here soon?”
“Deal.” I smiled.

A few hours later Sarah was at my door.
“Damn girl. Looking good.”
“Thank you.” She beamed.
“You know you don’t have to try to get Ashton’s attention anymore, right?”
She chuckled, “I know, but I have to keep him now.”
“Fair enough.” I smiled.
My phone buzzed.
“Hunter! Hi.” I smiled at facetime.
“Where are you ladies off to?”
“Crystal is having a party.” Sarah saved me.
“Oh fun! Be responsible.”
“Always.” Sarah again saved me.
“I won’t keep you too long, I just wanted to say goodnight.”
“Night, Hunter.” I smiled, “Sleep well.”
“Don’t have too much fun without me.”
“She will.” Sarah jumped in, luckily he didn’t take her seriously.
We ended the facetime. Neither of us said I love you.
“You okay?” Sarah asked.
“He didn’t say--”
“I know.” she stopped me. “We should get over there.
I nodded and followed her out the door. We walked into Luke’s backyard where everyone was in the pool already.
“Riley! Sarah!” the boys called. “Join us!”

Luke’s P.O.V.

I watched Riley undress into her bikini and bit my lip.
“You know, when you had the lip piercing, at least it wasn’t obvious that you were checking girls out.” Mikey smirked.
“My bad.” I laughed.
“Hello Lukas.” Riley smiled.
“Hello Riley Ann.”
She let out a chuckle.
“We should talk about last night.”
“I think we shouldn’t.” I replied.
“Luke, we can’t--”
“I know, but you can’t tell me it doesn’t feel right.”
“It’s like I told you last night, I’m engaged.”
“Like I told you, I wish it was me. If we don’t talk about what happened it’s like we’re us again.”
“Luke--”
“Guys! C’mon.” Calum called.
“Yeah! The water is nice.” Emma jumped in, splashing us both.
“You want us in?” I asked, everyone nodded.
I swiftly picked Riley up and jumped in, despite her squirming.

When the night calmed down we all sat by the fire and Michael brought out his guitar.
“What would the ladies like to hear?” he asked.
“How about Want You Back?” Emma stated.
“I haven’t heard that one.” Riley responded.
“Do you live under a rock?” Cal asked.
“Apparently.” She laughed.
Ashton blushed, “Luke, Cal, and I co-wrote this about my first love. It’s about wanting that feeling she gave me, back. Now I have that.”
Sarah blushed.
“Let’s hear it then.” Riley spoke.

Riley’s P.O.V.

I looked over to Crystal since Ash said Luke co-wrote it. She nodded at me as I thought back to the comment at the concert.
They got to the second chorus and my heart broke.
“I remember the roses on your shirt when you told me this would never work you know even when I say I've moved on yeah I still dream for you no matter where I go, I'm always gonna want you back no matter how long you're gone, I'm always gonna want you back I know you know I will never get over you no matter where I go, I'm always gonna want you back.”

Luke’s P.O.V.

Riley sat in her favorite All Time Low shirt with the roses on it. She was crying uncontrollably, so was I.
“Please, Riley. Don’t--”
“I can’t do this anymore, Luke. I’m sorry. I’m done coming in second to everything and everyone.”
“We can make it work, Riley! Please!” I cried.
“This is never going to work.” she cried, walking out the door.
