10 Days

Chapter 1

~1~

College dropout. Laid off cashier. 20-year-old gay loser. That pretty much described me when I met that boy. And we had 10 days together.

I thought about all the bad decisions I made, all the fights I had with my parents, all the bad hands that life dealt me on that 26-hour plane ride to Sydney.

I’m sick of college, I said. I don’t know what I want to do with my life, I said. You have to do something, my parents said back. You’ve only been in college a year, they said. I know, I said, but wouldn’t it work if I took a year off to save up money? I have a job. One year, they said, then you’re out of the house if you’re not going back to college. The store is closing, my boss said. The last day is July 31. I’m no longer a cashier, I thought.

My sister, my perfect sister, getting married. Some Australian outback or whatever she met while studying abroad. She’s getting married to some guy, Ashton Irwin or whatever.

Apparently he’s rich and famous. I dunno. Actually, yes I do. I’m totally 5SOS trash and I can’t believe my sister is marrying one of them and that I’m going to be related to fucking ASHTON IRIWN.

The wedding’s in August, Kari, my sister said. Can you come, Mom and Dad, she asked, it’s going to be in Sydney. Can I come with, Mom and Dad, I asked? You have no job and no education, Mom and Dad said. If you enroll in college for the fall, you can come with, they said.

So, here I am, on a plane from Midwest to Sydney, thinking about how I ended up here, basically bribed to college with a trip. It’s not all bad, I have my laptop, my phone, and thank the Lord Jesus Christ in heaven for airplane wifi.

“Who’s that, Aiden?” Mom asked me when my phone dinged. Even though I was 20, she always wanted to know who was texting me.

“It’s Kari.” I responded.

“Oh, what does your sister have to say?” Mom asked.

“She says that Ashton wants to talk to me.” I said. “She asked if he could skype me.”

I put in my earbuds that had a microphone on them and turned on Skype on my computer. An incoming call came in and I answered it.

I had never spoken to him before, but I was now talking to Ashton Irwin, my future brother-in-law.

Notes

I HOPE Y'ALL LIKE MY NEW STORY!

This fanfic is based off an essay story I wrote my first semester of college and the essay requirement was 3 pages, mine was 14, but I got a full page of praise from the professor for the story structure.
