The End is Approaching [PAUSED]

Ten - Humorous Pain

*Mabel’s POV*
*Two Weeks Later*

It has been two weeks since Destiny came back to school, and the most contact any of us has gotten with her was seeing her in the lunchroom with Owen. No one likes to talk about it anymore, but I’m pretty sure everyone is still bummed about the fact that she isn’t with us, I mean Niall utterly hates her guts. It’s about time someone else blows up trying to get her attention. Or at least some solid answers, because everything we know now is still rumours.

Every lunch, Owen and Destiny would be laughing about one thing or another, and no one could tell what.

“She seems to better off without us,” Elizabeth would say, and that’s all we had to live off of.

How could someone who was so close to us, leave without a word? Are we not worth it?

*Second Period*

“Have you guys seen Jeanie lately? She looks like a complete mess.” Elizabeth asks me. She, Antwon, Liam, Niall and I had the second period, English together, and our teacher had brought us down to the library so we could work on our projects. Naturally speaking, none of us was actually doing anything, other than hanging around the couch area, bringing up some random topic about Macbeth whenever Mr McDonald would walk by.

“No, why? Did something happen to her?” I ask, pretending to read my Macbeth book.

“I don’t know.” Elizabeth shrugged.

“It’s probably because of Destiny,” Niall sighed, slouching low in his seat, staring up at the ceiling.

“Not everything is her fault, Niall,” I angrily shot at him.

“It probably is, though,” Antwon pipped up, “Destiny hasn’t said a word to anyone, but Owen, and don’t you remember that whole scene Jeanie made last year with Destiny.”

“Yeah, that was hilarious.” Liam laughed, running his hand through his hair, before his laughter died down and became a frown, “Everything about last year was so amazing. How could it all change because of one person.”

“Has Jeanie tried to talk to Destiny?” I asked.

“I don’t know, I think so, but you know Destiny, probably blew her off like the rest of us.” Elizabeth sighed, “I still don’t understand why she blew us off. What did we do?”

“I don’t know,” I shrugged.

“Who gives a damn? It’s probably not even something we did. She’s just being an ass and taking things too far. Guess she gets butt-hurt too hard. It’s not our fault, so stop worrying about it.” Niall sneers.

“What did she do to you, that you hate her so much?” Liam asked him.

“She blew us all off, damaged Harry and left everyone in the dark, I don’t understand why you’re not pissed.” Niall shot back.

“Well, no use of fighting over it just gotta get over it. And besides, I heard Jeanie was going to confront her in front of everyone today.” Antwon says.

“Oh, that’d be golden. If she doesn’t ignore her.” Niall says, rolling his eyes.

Lunch time came around, and most of the group of friends have gathered at our regular lunch table. Harry, Bella, June, and Louis weren’t with us, as they disappeared off to do something.

“Baker!” Jeanie calls Destiny, as Destiny walks by her table. “Destiny stop! You can’t ignore everyone forever!”

“What do you want, Jeanie?” Destiny sighs, stopping and turning around to face her. Everyone goes silent, surprised that Destiny actually stopped to talk to someone.

“Oh my god! She talks…” Jeanie exclaimed, shocked, just as we all were. “Okay. Okay. Uhm, I didn’t think I would get this far …”

“Now, you’re just wasting my time.” Destiny rolls her eyes, about to walk away.

“No, no. Don’t go.” Jeanie pleaded. “I need answers.”

“Then, tell me what you want answers for, Jesus. If it’s for math questions, then you’re out of luck ‘cause I’m not in the business of giving those out anymore.” Destiny sneered at her.

“You aren’t?” Mike, from our English class, who was sitting with his friends at the table next to us questioned her. He was clearly paying attention to the conversation, just as everyone else was.

“No.” Destiny shook her head.

“Damnit! I’m going to fucking fail now.” Mike cried, resting his forehead on his arm in distress. Destiny lets off a little laugh and shakes her head.

“Okay, Jeanie. What do you want?” Destiny asked again.

“Tell me you didn’t do it. Tell me you didn’t sleep Owen that night.” Jeanie blurt out, everyone seemed to shift to their edges of their seat as they waited for an answer.

“Yeah, Uhm, no. I’m not answering that.” Destiny shakes her head, as she turns around to leave.

“Please, Destiny! I need to know! Please.” Jeanie begs.

“Why does it even matter to you? It’s not like I would’ve cheated on you if I did sleep with him. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t have cheated on anyone if I did.” Destiny questions her.

“Oh jeez, thank god Harry’s not here to hear that. He would’ve snapped.” Ally pointed out.

“Because, if you didn’t that means there’s still a chance that you’re into girls,” Jeanie chokes out, causing us to let out some chuckles.

“Jesus,” Destiny says, a small smile playing on her face, as she waves her hand tiring to leave again.

“At least whisper it to me. I won’t tell anyone I swear. Whisper it.” Jeanie tires once more. Immediately, Destiny stops in her tracks and a smirk forms on her face.

“Whisper it?” She asks, turning around. Jeanie nods. “You won’t tell anyone?” Jeanie nods again. “Alright. Yeah, okay that sounds like a plan.”

“Looks like she only doesn’t want us to know anything.” Antwon points out.

“Yeah.” Ally nods her head, as she and the rest of us continue to watch the scene unfold.

“Yay, okay!” Jeanie smiles.

“I’m whispering it, Jeanie. So, listen carefully.” Destiny warns her.

“Of course.” Jeanie nods, with a smile, happy that she was finally getting some answers.

Destiny leans in, near Jeanie's ear and whispers something into it. Pulling away, with a smirk plastered on her face she says, “It’s a secret, Jeanie. I whispered it. You can’t tell anyone.” And with that Destiny walks off, with the smirk still plastered on her face.

“Fuck yourself, Baker!” Jeanie screams at her angrily, as Destiny walks away, showing the peace sign in the air.

“She had sex with him?!” Neal questions her, exclaimed because that’s probably why Jeanie was so mad at her.

“No,” Jeanie says, glaring at Destiny walking away with Owen.

“She didn’t have sex with him?!” Liam questions her, surprised just as everyone else was.

“No,” Jeanie says, again.

“Then, the hell did she just tell you?” Zayn questioned her.

“Nothing. Nothing! She said nothing to me. The fucking girl only made whispering noises in my damn ear!” Jeanie snapped, “And that’s not even the worst part.”

“Then, what is,” Elizabeth asked.

“I fucking liked it. Jesus!” Jeanie exclaims, throwing her hands in the air as she walked out of the lunchroom through the back exit.

After a moment, of silence, we all burst into laughter. Niall tried to hold in his laughter, trying to not show everyone that he found the scene funny as well, but he still let out small bursts of laughter.
