Beautiful Thing

9

Harry and his band members started to sort away the equipment and chat amongst themselves about the show tonight before they dispersed for dinner. That's when Harry approached me and asked me my opinion on where I'd like to go for dinner since I knew the area better than him.

"So we are leaving for our dinner break now. I'd like to take you out. I would assume that you'd know the area better than me yeah?"

I nodded my head. "Yeah, I'd think so too. What are you feeling tonight?" I questioned him.

"Hmm... I was thinking maybe Italian. I'm down for some pasta. What do you think?" he suggested with a small smile.

I pondered for a few seconds. Pasta was one of my favorites; any kind really. I ran through the potential Italian restaurants that we could go to. I then remembered one that my family and I went to when we were celebrating my sister's first album release.

"I could go for some pasta. My favorite place is just a few blocks down actually. It's a bit on the pricey side though if you don't mind that but, it's one hundred percent worth it. I promise," I finished with a hopeful smile.

"No, I don't mind at all. Sounds good," he agreed. "Would you like to drive since you know the way there? It would be faster," he asked.

I nodded my head. "Let's go now to beat the rush," I smirked at him, then pulling my keys out of my purse.

Harry and I made our way out to the parking garage where my vehicle was waiting. I pressed the unlock button on the keychain and the range rover came to life.

Harry smirked and said, "Nice ride," noticing it's the same model as his back in England. He then hopped in the passenger side.

"Thanks. I bought it when I first got hired as my sister's finance manager." I spoke while putting on my seatbelt, then pulling out of the garage.

I then looked around to make sure I could get out with ease. I may seem calm on the outside but internally I am freaking out. I'm going out for dinner with Harry. It's been a while since I've been out with anyone outside my family. I think the last time was with Harry when we went to the cafe roughly two months ago. I just hope I don't make a fool of myself.

"This is quite different. I am usually the one that drives everywhere but I must say, you're an excellent driver Tess. Also great taste in vehicles." Harry spoke as I drove in the direction of the restaurant.

I smirked and for sure I couldn't hide the blush that arose on my cheeks. "Thanks. Although this is one of my favorites, it isn't my dream vehicle."

Harry seemed surprised by my sudden interest in cars. "Really? I never took you as a car person. What is your dream car?" He questioned.

I smiled at the thought of it. "A Chevy Camaro. And no not yellow like Bumblebee from Transformers, although it is quite nice, I want a sleek black one. I have a thing for black vehicles, but if I had to choose another color, I think I'd choose dark red." I spoke to him as I drove.

We then stopped at a red light and I looked at him to see his expression, he had a smug look on his face. "That's... interesting."

I began to shy away at his words, "Is that a good thing?" I spoke hesitantly. I shouldn't have told him that. He must find it weird that I'm into cars as much as I am.

Harry quickly nodded his head, "It is a good thing. If anything, I find it quite attractive, to be honest." He confessed. I then again blushed at his words; this time, I let it show.

*~*

We then arrived at the restaurant and was seated. Harry and I both decided on our meal choices. I chose the garlic farfalle since it wouldn't be messy to eat, and Harry ordered the classic spaghetti bolognese with a bottle of merlot to accompany both of us. I had one glass finished when Harry insisted I had another one but I reminded him that I had driven us here and I had to get us back; he understood completely.

While eating, Harry took this opportunity to ask more questions to get to know me better. If anyone knows me well, which is a small abundance of people, would know that there is nothing interesting about me.

"So Tess, from what I heard, you sing that well, why don't you follow the singing career like your sister? I would like to think you would go far with a voice like that." Harry had pointed out.

I smiled apprehensively at him, "Thanks, Harry. You're too kind. But I could never have a career like that. I've just grown up putting a lot of effort towards the career that I have now. I don't think I would fit in the music industry." I breathed out at the end.

Harry furrowed his eyebrows, "What do you mean, you wouldn't fit in? Tess, you have to live your life with some spontaneity. I happen to think that all this work just isn't for you."

My eyes snapped up to meet his when he spoke the last sentence, "What do you mean by that?".

"Well, really from what you told me, it's all that you know and all that you have done. It's a routine for you; a comfortable routine. I think you need to step out of your comfort zone. Do something that you typically wouldn't do." Harry paused then looked up at me, "I feel that somewhere deep down you know this yourself." He said softly.

I took a moment to think about what he had just told me. Was he really right about me? We had only met 2 months ago. I don't think I would be comfortable with doing that, "But he told you to step out of your comfort zone," my conscious told me. Whatever. It's something that I would never do. I've spent many years working to get where I am today; I'm not going to throw that away.

After my stubborn thoughts, I started to come to the realization that maybe Harry might be right. Working in finance is all that I have ever known because it's what everyone told me that I should do. And when was the last time I had a break? Harry has put so many questions in my mind; even making me question my career choice.

"Thank you, Harry, for your concern, but right now I am quite comfortable with where I am now." I finished with a hesitant smile. After that comment, I think he got the idea that I was finished with the topic at hand.

After dinner, we had made our way back to the venue. Harry had departed to get ready for the show while I wandered around mindlessly, doing so, I stumbled into his merchandise booth. I smiled and made my way over to look at the products of Harry's tour.

There were many shirts that were displayed. I particularly took interest in the white t-shirt that said, "Treat people with kindness". That must be Harry's tour motto. It's honestly so kind of Harry to do that.

"How much for this t-shirt?" I asked the merchant. I glanced down and noticed a pile of brown journals that had the same saying on the cover. "Oh and this journal too." I finished with a smile.

She looked at me with a friendly smile and said, "The shirt is $35 and the journal is $25."
I nodded, "I'll take both." I then handed her $60 from my wallet.

She took it graciously and thanked me. I then put my wallet and the journal into my bag. After that, I went looking for a washroom where I could change into my new t-shirt to support Harry. Looking around for a minute or so, I finally found one and changed.

I then went looking for Harry's dressing room so I could wish him good luck on his show tonight. It didn't take long until I found the room with "HARRY STYLES" in bold on a door. I hesitantly knocked. The door opened up to reveal a very well dressed Harry.

Harry wore an aqua blue suit with flowers all over it. Under the suit jacket, was a black dress shirt that hung out a bit around his neck. Normally it would be something I would cringe and think why would someone wear something like that, but in all honesty, Harry pulled it off. I don't know what it was about him but he could make anything look great.

"Oh wow, Harry. You look great!" I finished with a kind smile.

Harry had a full grin, "Thanks, Tess! Please come in." Harry gestured pulling the door open wider to let me in.

Once I had walked in, Harry took notice of my attire. "I see you've found the tour merchandise. How do you like it?" Harry asked with a friendly smile.

I grinned up at him, "I love all of it, Harry! I liked this shirt the most because of the motto on it. I love what it stands for. It's very humble Harry."

Harry began to blush, "Thanks, Tess. The opening act is soon finished, then it's showtime. I'm glad you came here before I went on stage. I'm a bit nervous." he admitted.

I furrowed my brows, "Nervous? Why are you nervous. You should be a natural by now."

"Well you see Tess, no matter how many times you do something like this, something you love, you can't help but be nervous because... everyone expects you to be flawless," Harry admitted while running his fingers nervously through his hair.

I never took someone like Harry to get nervous. I get nervous every second of the day. Harry is too good to worry about people thinking badly about him. He had to know this.

I stood up from my chair and made my way to Harry with some newfound confidence. "Harry, you have nothing to worry about. I promise. If in a moment out there you start to feel this way, just look for me out in the crowd. I'll reassure you that you are fine. I won't doubt you for a second."

Harry gave me a look that I couldn't decipher but all of a sudden I think I got it when he wrapped his long arms around my body. "Thanks, Tess." He mumbled softly into my hair.

My stomach erupted in butterflies at the sudden action, "Uh... you're welcome. Anytime Harry. Really."

Harry then pulled away and smiled, "C'mon Tess. Let's go find your seat. We have a show to attend to."

I nodded my head and made my way towards the door until Harry grabbed my arm to stop me "Wait," I turned around and raised my eyebrow questioning him. He then pulled out his phone and opened the camera app, "I'd like to get a picture with you; if you don't mind."

I grinned at him, "Sure, Harry." He then pulled me in close and put on the biggest smile. I couldn't help but smile bigger at the thought of it. He then snapped the photo, then opened it up to view. It was a lovely picture. "I love it, Harry. You wouldn't mind sending it to me later would you?" I smiled hopefully.

"Sure, I'll do it after the show." He spoke slowly.

"Thanks, Harry."

"Anytime, darling."

It was that moment that I knew that Harry was a very humble person.

I think your a lovely writer, and I do hope to see more updates from you in the future!!!

Wow i love this.

Ok seriosuly love this story!!!

When I was reading them singing endless love, I kept thinking Tess was James Corden and it was the carpool karaoke all over again! It made slightly less intimate but more humorous. Also I realized Tess and I are very similar for 3 reasons.

1. We both are named Tess

2. We both love Fleetwood Mac ( for me it's more obsess over than love really. Also there should be a duet of them singing you make loving fun, I need that in my life! )

3. We both find Harry attractive (;

Great job with the writing by the way! So far it's ridiculously cute, I am in love!
