Beautiful Thing

8

Facing fears can be a struggle for anyone. For me, it felt like the end of the world, when in actuality, it wasn't. It's typical of me to overthink things before they happen. One of those things being Harry's upcoming show in LA.

Harry had invited me to his show 2 weeks ago. Since then we have been texting and had an occasional call to strengthen our newfound friendship. Surprisingly I have grown a bit more comfortable communicating with him. Part of me believes that it's just because he is an easy guy to chat with, but a bigger part, the most hopeful, believes that I am actually accepting someone outside my family circle into my life.

Harry was someone that I hoped that would stick around, and not use me like the last one, but what would he use me for when he practically could have anything and everything with a blink of an eye. He didn't strike me to be that type of person though. To me, he was humble.

I huffed as I pulled the straightener down my naturally flat hair, just to get the small unnoticeable, noticeable to me, kinks. I really want to let loose and have fun tonight with Harry. I turned off my straightener and then applied some gloss to my lips to make them pop a little. My actions were interrupted by the vibrating of my phone. It was a text from my annoying yet loving sister.

Sarah:
Tess! I hope you're not backing out tonight! Send a snap of your outfit! xx

I sighed and opened the camera app on my phone, then walked towards my full body mirror. I was wearing a black pair of jeans with a red shirt and a jean jacket. The snap of the picture went off. I examined the picture and sent it to Sarah.

Tess:
No, I am not backing out. You have little faith in me, sis. Anyways, here's the outfit. Trying to go casual but not too casual.

Within seconds she replied.

Sarah:
LOVE IT! You look great! Have fun tonight! xox

I replied with a smiley face, then locked my phone. As I was making my way out to my car, I made sure to take one last look in the mirror to make sure I looked okay. Harry had told me beforehand that I should be at the venue around 6 PM to beat the crowd but to also mingle before he has to go on stage. I made sure I left at a decent time to arrive a little early.

During the drive to the venue, I played Harry's album just to familiarize myself with the lyrics better. In all honesty, it's a great album. It is definitely something I would listen to daily. I even caught myself singing along to some of the lyrics.

30 minutes later, the venue finally came into view. I turned on the Bluetooth in the vehicle to call Harry. A few rings went through before he answered.

"Hello?" Harry answered.

"Hey Harry, it's Tess. I'm here and just wondering where I should park." I spoke while playing with a strand of my hair nervously.

"Oh, I have reserved parking around the back. It's lot 14A. You can park anywhere in there. The guards will just ask for your ID and they'll give you your pass." He slowly answered my question. That's one thing about Harry that I found quite amusing. He speaks so slow but in total detail.

"Perfect! I'll see you soon." I spoke excitedly. Maybe too excited because my voice went up a few octaves. Mentally facepalming myself.

I heard Harry chuckle, "You too Tess." then he ended the call. I sighed as I moved the rover around to find the entrance to the back parking lot.

After a minute of looking around, I finally found the sign that said "RESERVED PARKING LOT 14A". "Perfect," I mumbled to myself as I began to pull in.

I was stopped by the huge guard at the lot. I guess if you're someone like Harry you need the protection these days. I parked, grabbed my purse, and pulled out my ID. "Contessa Taylor," I spoke my full name apprehensively to him. He looked at my ID for a moment and nodded. He reached into his bag and pulled out a pass to let me into the building. I quickly thanked him and went to find a spot.

Once I found a spot. I pulled down my mirror just to make sure I looked fine before I entered. I put my pass around my neck, grabbed my purse, then made my way to enter the venue which was covered with more guards. I lifted up my pass to show them I am indeed a VIP tonight. They moved to let me in, and I proceeded.

When I walked into the building I found myself backstage and lost. I groaned. Why does this happen to me? I shouldn't have came in the first place. I was in a building full of strangers. Damn me for being so shy.

Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted by someone I didn't know. "Hey! Are you Tess?" this man that looked around mid-twenties.

I shyly smiled and nodded my head. "Oh great. You looked kinda lost and Harry started to get a bit worried. I'm Mitch, Harry's guitarist." He smiled and shook my hand. His hand felt very rough compared to my small ones. I guess that comes with being a guitar player.

"Nice to meet you, Mitch. Would you mind bringing me to where Harry is, please?" I asked politely.

"That was my current task, love. Follow me." He smirked and lead the way to wherever Harry was currently. I couldn't help but blush when he called me "Love". Was definitely something I wasn't used to. It has to be a British thing because Harry occasionally calls me that as well.

Mitch lead me to the open arena where Harry would be performing. I heard different instruments being played and tuned. Then I heard Harry speaking into the microphone. "Okay guys, I think we should run through From the Dining Table once more." It was different seeing him like this. Being all professional but, he seemed very relaxed as well.

I looked up to see his tall figure on the stage. He turned around to see me entering the arena. A big smile came upon his face. "Tessa!" He spoke happily and made his way off the stage towards me. When I met up with him, I was embraced in a huge hug.

I giggled lightly, "Hey Harry," my voice muffled because my body was still engulfed by his. He smelled really good. I wonder what cologne he used today.

"We're about to run through our last song before the show tonight. You can listen if you'd like and then we can head out for dinner or something."

I nodded my head, "Yeah sure, that sounds fine! I'd love to listen actually." He smiled then made his way back on stage.

From the Dining Table is one of my favorite songs by Harry. Although it is very sad, I can feel the emotion through the words which means everything to me, being a songwriter as well.

They began playing the song and I immediately get goosebumps. Harry is such a wonderful singer, along with his band which, they are wonderful performers as well. He gets so into the song. You can tell by reading the emotion off of his face. His eyes were closed as if he were feeling every word. I'd hate to know who inspired this song; they must've hurt him pretty bad.

I began to sing along when they reached the bridge, which was my favorite part. Harry caught me singing, and smirked. He then motioned me to come up with him. I shyly shook my head but then I saw him making his way down towards me. I sighed and made my way towards him.

When I met up with him, he motioned me to continue singing with him.

"We haven't spoke since you went away. Comfortable silence is so overrated. Why won't you ever say what you want to say? Even my phone, misses your call, by the way," we softly sung together. Once the song finished I was blushing profusely.

"That was wonderful!" Harry spoke happily into the microphone. I couldn't help but agree with that.

Harry IS wonderful.

I think your a lovely writer, and I do hope to see more updates from you in the future!!!

Wow i love this.

Ok seriosuly love this story!!!

When I was reading them singing endless love, I kept thinking Tess was James Corden and it was the carpool karaoke all over again! It made slightly less intimate but more humorous. Also I realized Tess and I are very similar for 3 reasons.

1. We both are named Tess

2. We both love Fleetwood Mac ( for me it's more obsess over than love really. Also there should be a duet of them singing you make loving fun, I need that in my life! )

3. We both find Harry attractive (;

Great job with the writing by the way! So far it's ridiculously cute, I am in love!
