Wasted Heart

Coffee

I was walking around the town we were currently in. We’d be here for the next three days then back on the road. There’s a lot of people around but each person minds their own business. No one was really paying attention to me, which was great. It's awesome getting to walk around without people screaming at me.

I stop in front of a statue. Art piece really. It is simple, quite abstract. I was so distracted I didn’t see the girl coming my way until she spilt something on me. My arm was wet and warm...not a good combination. I look up at the young girl. “I am so sorry. I wasn’t watching where I was going. I can have your coat cleaned for you if you’d like. I actually work at a cleaners not to far from here. Or I could even buy a new one for you if you’d prefer.” she rambled. I looked at her and gave her a small smile.

“Don’t worry about it. It wasn't even expensive.” I shrugged

“Here let me at least pay you back.”She said putting her hand in her pocket.

“No, like I said, It's fine.” I thought for a moment. “I could buy you a new coffee though.” she smiled, showing a dimple on her left cheek that I didn’t notice before.

“As much as I’d like to, I really have to go. But have a nice day. And again I’m really sorry about your coat.” She said before walking off into the crowd. I smiled and shook my head at this girl. It was one of the few normal conversations I got to had with strangers. The kind where I forget for a moment that I’m a well known musician, and think I’m just a normal kid going through life. I shook the feeling and walked back to the hotel we were staying at.

“Woah mate, what happened to your jacket?” Luke asked as I entered the room.

“Some girl spilled her coffee on me.”

“Well that’s one way to get your attention.”Michael scoffed.

“It wasn’t like that,Michael.” I said rolling my eyes. He always thinks every girl we meet wants to date us for publicity or money. “She genuinely didn’t mean to.”

“Did she ask for your number to go out for coffee to make up for it?” he countered.

“No actually, I asked her to go out for coffee and she said no.”

“Did you get her number?”Luke asked

“She left before I could even think about asking.”

“Let’s get to the real question.” Calum said.”Was she hot?”

“Kinda.”I shrugged. That was good enough to end the conversation.
