The Contract

Mother Knows Best.

Luke's P.O.V.

I woke up to laughter in the kitchen. I slowly pulled myself out of bed and into the kitchen. Dani stood with my mum, coffee in their hands, chatting while breakfast was cooking.
"Good morning Luke." Mum smiled.
"What are you two lovvely ladies up to?" I asked.
"Just catching up." mum smiled.
"Catching up?"
"You'll see after breakfast." Dani smiled, rubbing my back. "We made the whole breakfast buffet, and everyone should be here shortly."
"I guess I should get what I want before it's gone." I smiled evilly, before sweeping Dani off of her feet.
"Hey!" She screamed, laughing as well.
"I said I had to get what I wanted." I smirked, twirling around with her over my shoulder.
"Luke! You already have me! Put me down!" she laughed harder.
"Fine..." I laughed along.
When I set her down she kissed me passionately.
"Ahem." Mum cleared her throat.
"Sorry." We both chuckled.
"Just making sure you knew I was still here. It could've been weird." Mum joked.
Quickly the front door was thrown open by the mates and their girls.

After breakfast the boys filed out.
"Hemmo! We're going to the beach today, you guys wanna come?" Ash asked.
"Maybe later." I chuckled, as a memory of being on the beach with Arzaylea while Dani was left out, played in my head. "We're catching up with my family today."
"Maybe we'll see you for the usual sunset bonfire then." Ash smiled, before heading out.
I walked back into the kitchen and mum had already disappeared.
"Where'd she go?" I asked Dani.
"Let's go catch up." Dani smiled, taking my hand and leading me to the basement.
We reached the bottom of the stairs, still not seeing my mum. Finally, we walked to the furthest corner possible.
"The safe?" I asked mum.
"Shh. Once this is out we'll need to sit by the fireplace and have some quiet time."
I have never been so confused in my entire life. Mum pulled my old shoe box out of the safe; my heart skipped a beat.
As we sat next to the fire place mum scanned the room. "Now what I'm aboutto tell you I've told Dani. Do you have your phones on you?"
"No, I left them in the room." Dani replied, mum smiled.
"This is a little crazy, don't you think?" I questioned.
"Just the opposite." Mum responded, "First things first. When we came home from a trip to the states Jack and Ben stumbled on some bugs in the house, along with cameras. The bugs, to our knowledge have all been found, and the cameras are on some ridiculous loop so no one actually sees anything. Worst case there's no place for either thing over here and the noise would drown anything out."
"You're scaring me, mum," I spoke.
She chuckled, "Nonsense. It gets worse."
Dani let out a small laugh and mum continued.
"The trip we came back from was your wedding, Luke."
I'm sure my face dropped, and it was hard to believe, but maybe we weren't crazy.
"At the end of the wedding Dani fell into your arms. Before rushing over, I noticed everyone was asleep all over the ballroom, then I fainted as well. On the plane we had no recolection of anything, including why we were on a plane. We just assumed we had seen you. Well, when we arrived home the place had been ransacked. Everything was turned upside down.--"
"You told me about this, I freaked out, remember. You told me the bastards were caught a week later."
"Darling, I'm getting there. A week after I had finally calmed down enough to unpack. Although my suitcase was empty I heard sliding around. I unzipped the secret compartment to find a disc, and a bunch of pictures. They were of you with Dani, and it took me a while to know who it was, but it quickly came to me when I watched the disc."
Mum slid the disc into the DVD player and we watched. It was our rehearsal dinner slideshow with all of our pictures from birth to being together.
"Now, I've put these in chronilogical, to my best knowledge, to help you both remember, but Dani never really forgot." They smiled at each other.
"I only had one sip of champagne... I had some news for you." Dani spoke, but I could barely hear anything as I studied the pictures.
There was a picture of everything from the paps catching our first encounter, to the headlines after the wedding. There were clips of a Vogue photoshoot and interview on the wdding, then a magazine sayuing the tour was still happening.
"Wait-- so did they just erase the wedding? Everything else is here." I questioned.
"No, it isn't." Dani sternly stated, then pointed at the dates.
The first encounter dated July 2 years ago, the wedding a year following that, then the tour this year.
"So what happened to us in that year?" I questioned.
"That's what we're here to find out. Together." Mum spoke.
