Cambridge (Part III)

Iced Coffee

Ashton’s P.O.V.

After slipping out of Delia’s not long after waking up, I began the walk back to my own apartment. What was I doing to myself? More importantly, what was I doing to Delia?

My relationship with Delia was so complicated, it was all so confusing. However, there was no denying that there was something between us. Things between us just felt so tainted somehow, given how we had started out. What was wrong with me? I had chased after Rachel for the better part of a year and a half, and only months after finally getting her, I ruined everything.

None of the boys understood why I had done what I had done. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t fully understand it myself. Rachel was everything I had ever wanted in a girlfriend. She was beautiful and smart and funny. Whenever I was around her, I felt nervous and excited, she made me genuinely happy. I loved her, with all of my heart. Everything with her was just so comfortable.

Then there was Delia, with her sharp tongue and her arched eyebrows. Things with her were exciting, passionate. With her sarcastic wit and her seductive smirk, she had me coming back for more, every time.

I thought back to the first time it had happened. Rachel and I had had a fight, a bad one. We were both stressed out with assignments and she had just gotten a part time job which was giving us even less time to spend together and things had really just blown up. We had left things on such a bad note that it was difficult to know where we stood.

Delia had been there for me, offering a shoulder to cry on. I had been drinking, I was upset. One thing led to another, and I woke up in her bed. The absolute dread I had felt when I woke up the next morning was the worst feeling I had ever felt. I had avoided Delia for the next two weeks, feeling too guilty and ashamed to even see her. Perhaps if it had ended there, things never would’ve turned out the way they did.

But of course, it didn’t end there. When I eventually ran into Delia again, on a night out, we ended up making out in a bathroom, and once again heading back to hers.

It was difficult to understand my feelings for Delia. I didn’t love her, not like I loved Rachel. But I liked her a lot, the way I felt around her was something I had never felt with anyone else before. The level of passion I felt with her was unprecedented, even with Rachel. I was starting to realise it was more than just lust.

What to do about it was the question. Was I ready to give up on Rachel and possibly chase something new?

Although, by the way she was draped over Louis the nigh before, it seemed she was ready to move on to someone new. Not that I even had any right to be angry, I had ruined our relationship.

That didn’t make it any less painful though, watching Rachel fall for Louis the first time was painful enough, seeing it happen again would be unbearable. Not being able to see her at all was unbearable. Despite knowing she hated me, I wanted to see her, to try explain myself.

It seemed luck was on my side, as within seconds of my wishful thinking about seeing my ex girlfriend, she rounded the corner and crashed into me, spilling her drink all over my t-shirt.

“Oh my god! I am so –“ she began a frantic apology but immediately cut off upon realising it was me.

“I guess its lucky you only drink iced frappes, huh?” I broke the ice after a few tense seconds of us simply staring at each other. “If you drank real coffee, this could have been a real disaster,” I added, an attempt to lighten the mood.

My comment seemed to break her out of her momentary trance and she quickly muttered “sorry,” and began walking away.

“Rachel, please wait, I really need to talk to you,” I followed her quickly, blocking her way as effectively as possible.

She looked gorgeous, as she normally did, with her curly pulled back into a loose ponytail, and her ripped jeans and tank top. She had hardly any make up on, just enough to even out her skin tone a little, a look I was familiar with, one she used after almost every night out.

She rolled her beautiful brown eyes at me, fixing me with a glare.

“We have nothing to talk about anymore, Ashton,” she said coldly, folding her arms.

“Rachel, c’mon, please, I know there’s no way I can make it up to you, but please just let me at least try to explain what happened,” I begged, unwilling to let this opportunity escape me.

Her expression remained unchanged, so I tried again.

“Don’t you want to know what really happened? We never actually talked about it, we just ended. Don’t you want some kind of closure?” I prodded gently.

She kept her stony exterior, but when she glanced at the ground, I could tell she was considering it. She hadn't gotten any proper closure from our relationship, it was more than likely hindering her when trying to move on.

I could tell she was coming around to the idea, so decided to push a little further.

“We could go get coffee, you know, a fresh one,” I indicated to the icy coffee currently soaking my t-shirt. “I can explain what really happened,” I added softly.

She continued to look unimpressed, but eventually sighed.

“You know what? Fine. But after this, you leave me alone for good. No more showing up in my room or pestering Skylar for information on me, we’re finished once and for all,” she lay down her conditions.

I nodded eagerly, just glad that I managed to her to agree at all.

“And you’re wearing that shirt,” she added, glancing down at the large coffee stain that was causing my shirt to cling to me uncomfortably. With the ghost of a smirk gracing her lips, she turned and began walking towards the nearest café with a sharp call of “let’s go.”

Skylar offering to talk to Harry on Rachel’s behalf is adorable! It’ll give her the perfect excuse to get to spend time with Harry alone and she’s br helping out her friend! It’s a win win!
Rachel better not say yes to Ashton! Louis would be so heartbroken! Although maybe the jealousy would be enough to get him to do something about it and they’d finally get together! Can’t wait to see how it all plays out anyways!

Rachel and Louis are so right for each other and if they dont get together soon I'm gonna scream. He's so in love with her its adorable, shes so clearly jealous over Delia, I'd love to see her and Harry have a conversation about the whole situation, maybe even when she's been drinking or something, and she could admit how she feels about Louis to him.
He's being so supportive lately, I'm loving it

gAAAHHH

I'm loving this. So much. Skylar and Luke are finally calling it quits, which NEEDED to happen I mena because Harry's obviously so much better for her.

And is it weird that I'm really liking Delia at the moment. I know she originally wanted Rachel to date Louis because shes into Ashton, but shes being such a good wingwoman, Rachel is clearly jealous and hopefully now she'll finally admit she's into Louis and they'll get back together. Theyre so perfect!!

I'd love to see them share a dance at the ball!!

Soooooo good!

I am soooo a Rachel and Louis Shipper! I love them because they are imperfectly perfect. Like, one of those long going romances that are never the right time or right place... like the movie Love, Rosie, you know? If you haven’t seen it, it is sooo good. I highly recommend it. Anyway, yeah, Louis screwed up... and so did Rachel... and watching them slowly build back up is just... awwwwweeeeee!!!! Skylar and Harry are kinda the same way... although, if you could, maybe touch more into Luke’s mind... maybe a point of view from him... when the whole gang is together... or what if he finally called the two out in front of the whole group? There is no way that he hasn’t noticed or isn’t tired of their chemistry yet.
