Just by Chance

Sky's Point of View•
I hung up from the video call. I mean, didn't he hear me earlier?! I told him i fucking love him. I started sobbing. Then i tried to keep it down. I stood up from the bed, making my way over to my drawing desk, pulled out a sharpener and a small screwdriver. Then i got into my bathroom, lightly sobbing. I took out the screw from the sharpener, and picked up the blade. It had been a long time since I've done this.
I gripped the metal blade tighter, and laid out my wrists. I closed my eyes and pressed the sharp edge onto my soft skin. Tears streamed down my face as i ran the blade further down my wrist. Then i got myself a few more wounds and did the same to my other wrist. Of course, why didn't i expect this? Nothing in life will ever go anyone's way. There will always be a change of path. Why did i even think such a superstar like Niall would even commit to such a relationship? I know he would, but why me? Of course, I'm pathetic. I'm weak, I'm ugly, I'm stupid, and i always find an excuse to mess everything up. I washed the blade before i screwed it back onto the sharpener. I walked back into my room, put back the sharpener in it's original place. I plopped down onto my bed, crying. I don't know what to do anymore.
Then my phone vibrated. I looked at the caller ID and was relieved to see it was Gen.
I picked up and put the phone on speaker.
"Hey Sky! You doing something tonight?"
"Uh, no, why?"
"Well i have this friend, she invited me to an Afterparty full of celebs. And guess what? You're my plus one!"
"What about Carter?"
"He's with his friends. I'll be there in ten with some outfits! I won't take no for an answer." She said firmly. I don't wanna go but, there's alcohol. Perfect way to get my mind off of things.
About ten minutes of waiting down stairs, the doorbell finally rang and i swung the door open. Then there was Gen. She had a big box, in which i assume are the outfits.
"Skydive!!" Gen exclaimed, pulling me in for a hug.
"Gen!" I said, hugging back.
"Okay so.. here are the dresses!" She said, carrying the box a bit higher.
"Um, Gen, are you sure I can't just wear anything from my closet?"
"Oh come on, Sky! We both know your closet still looks like a skater girl's!"
"It is not!"
"Is too!"
Then we heard. Misty's foot tapping on the stairs.
"Gen! You're here!"
"Hey Misty!"
"What's with that box and all the arguing?"
"Well, I'm taking Sky over here to a party and she insists on her lame-o Nirvana shirts."
I roll my eyes and cross my arms.
"Okay, fine. I'll wear your slut costumes."
"It is not slutty costumes!"
"Fine. Let me see it."
She pulls out the dresses, and honestly, they're pretty nice.
We both debate over a white lace dress and a strapless black dress.
We both ask for Misty's decision like 5-year olds.
"Well, the white dress makes Sky look like a bridesmaid. So the black one it is,"
"Fine." Gen pouted in defeat.
I put on the dress, got some black wedges, a black purse and a chunky golden necklace from my room, and did my makeup.
Then Gen decided on a colorful skin-tight skirt, a silky black top, some black stockings and blue wedges.
Once we were ready, we walked out the building and into her car.
We drove off to somewhere I don't even know about, blasting music from the car.
"This is, the part when i say I don't want it, I'm stronger than I've been before! This is, the part when i break free! Cause I can't resist it no more!" We both sang along to the music.

We've finally arrived. There was blasting music, lights, lots of trash scattered on the front yard. We parked the car and got out, making our way into the crowded area. And Gen wasn't lying. There were my favorite celebrities, dancing and drinking. Gen pulled me along to the bar, where we sat down. Then Drake came along
and i asked for a picture. He agreed, and i handed my phone to Gen.
We were both making the wacky duck face.
Gen ordered a few shots of tequila. We cheered
"Here's to everlasting friendship!" We clinked our shot glass and drank from it.
Gen insisted on staying at the bar, while i went over to the dance floor.
I shook my body to the beat, tapping my foot. This was perfect. No stressing over nothing. I danced and took in the smell of sweat and intoxicated smell. Then someone tapped on my shoulder and i turned around to see a ginger with a killer smile, commonly known as Ed Sheeran.
"Hey. Do i know you from somewhere?"
"Not that i know of."
"Okay. Well I'm Ed, you?"
"Sky Petersons."
"Wait.. i do know you!"
"Niall showed me a picture of you! You're his girlfriend, right? Why are you here..?"
"Well, um.. yes i am his girlfriend. Technically. And my best friend invited me here." I answered with a warm smile.
"Come on, dance with me!"
He said as he took hold of my hand and twirled me around. We both moved our bodies to the beat of the song. After a little while, we had enough and went to the bar for some drinks.
"That was great, Sky."
"Yeah. I've never let loose before."
"Speaking of letting loose, drink this."
He says, handing me his cup.
"What's this?"
"Eh, just beer. Why?"
"I gotta know what I'm drinking!" I chuckled, taking a sip from the red cup.
I felt the hot burning liquid go down my throat.
"Wait a minute.. where's Gen?"
"Who?"
"My best friend. She said she'd be right here at the bar."
"Let's go look for her, then!" We both split up to search the area after exchanging numbers. I looked outside, nothing. I swarmed through the crowd, nothing. I went upstairs, and there she was. Sitting on the toilet, one leg slung over the other, drinking from the red cup. I walked to her.
"Gen! Let's get out of here! You're drunk!"
"No I'm not." Gen said.
"What do you wanna do at this party?"
"What type of question is that?"
"Nothing, making sure you reaally aren't..." i slurred. Oh shit I'm drunk.
"Ugh come on. Let's get out of here girl."
"Nuh-uhh.. I don't know where Niall is.. i miss himmmm.."
"Let's get you out of here," she said, throwing my arm over her shoulder.
"Wait, wait.. call Ed.."
"What? How?"
"I have his numberrr.." i slurred
Gen took my phone from my purse, and called Ed.
A few minutes after we got down from the stairs, Ed quickly took me in his arms. He lifted my feet off the ground with one of his arms, and followed Gen through the crowd.
We were outside the party, Ed helping me into the car. All i remember is The back seat was where Ed was, and i blacked out.

Ed's Point Of View•
It's been three hours since we got Sky to her sister's apartment. I insisted that Sky's friend goes home before her boyfriend suspects something.
She lay asleep on my lap, while i was stroking her black, soft curls. She was beautiful alright, but I'm just doing this for Niall. I know he loves her. And judging from our encounter, she's definitely a good catch. I hope Niall will take care of her. I stopped dreaming when Sky's eyes shot open and rolled off the bed, running into her bathroom. I just stayed still, still full of suddenness. I already fetched some Aspirin and some water. After what seemed like forever, she finally walked back in the room, her hand on her head.
Sky's Point of View•
I puked in the toilet, and looked at my face in the mirror. Eyeshadow smeared, lipstick everywhere, and eyeliner super messy. I took some makeup cleanser from my cabinet, and cleaned myself up. Then headache started to hit, walking out of the room with my hand on my head. I was kinda shocked to see Ed sitting on my bed patiently. He smiled when he saw me. He stood up, took something which i suspect id painkillers, and a glass of water and handed it to me.
"You okay, Sky?"
"Mhm." I quickly answered before taking the pills and drinking from the water. I reached over to grab my phone to check the time. Oh my god, it's 11:43!
"Ed! It's almost 12! Why aren't you home yet?"
"You were in a drunken state. I couldn't just leave you here! I have to take care of you. For Niall. I know he loves you." Tears stung my eyes as i hear his name, remembering what happened. I looked down at my wrists, tracing my finger over the cuts. I think Ed saw, and asked me,
"W-why are there wounds on your wrists? Where are they from?" I just shook my head and said,
"Nothing.."
"Of course there's something. Do you.. wanna talk about it?" Ed asked awkwardly but full of concern.
"I don't know.. I mean, you wouldn't wanna know anything about my pathetic life."
"One; it's not pathetic. Two; I want to know. Three; I wouldn't ask you if I didn't want to know. You're my friend. I need to know what's happening.."
I sighed, and told him about the interview.
I cried at the end, looking down at the pain i drown my sorrow in.
Ed shook his head, putting a hand on my shoulder.
"You know Niall didn't mean it, right? I know he loves you. I mean, if he didn't, he wouldn't even call what you have a 'relationship'. I know he loves you. I can feel it in the way he talks about you. He always tells me how perfect you are, asking himself how he deserved you, and other stuff. Once what you told me ended, i just felt that Niall was in his hotel room, destroying everything he sees. I've never felt this with any other girl he's been with. Ever. You changed his life, Sky. You may not see it, but I've been with him his whole career. He's dull, and only gets bubbly when there are cameras. It's like he never cares about anything anymore. He loves you. I hear it in his tone, i see it in his smile, and i feel it in him."
"Are you sure..?"
"Never been more sure in my entire life." He said, smiling warmly at me.
"I should skype him, with you." I told him.
"No, you should do it alone. I have to go back home ,anyway." Ed insisted.
"Okay. I'll see you around?"
"Yeah. Bye."
Then he walks out of the room, closing the door behind him. I turned my laptop on, and logged in to Skype. I sent a video call, but no answer. I tried one more time, and he answered. And what i saw was horrifying..
